update.

Update/Brag (hopefully not a jinx!)

I guess "rich" is a relative term, but I sure as shit ain't dead.

P.S. The graph lists various limits, but all hands were played at NL200.

id say goal accomplished.

Talking Poker 03-28-07 01:55 AM

I didn't post any goals this month, but if I had, I would have failed miserably at every single one of them.

This was my losingest month ever - by a LOT - and I didn't even get in 10k hands.

And yes, I'm done playing for the month. I seriously hate poker right now and have absolutely no desire to play.

since im not playing for the rest of the month....heres a final update...goal accomplished for sure.

thrash1294 03-29-07 08:12 AM

I posted my march goals in the end of of the feb thread.

Any way I made it .It was to to get back to almost even for the year. I was down $330 in january,But since then I have climbed back to positive and am actually up $25 for the year now.

sjay2k 03-29-07 08:27 AM

I started off the month with a nice 8k downswing (just like Feb). I made a little bit of it back playing HU SNGs. I hardly played at all until I created an account on Bodog about a week ago and I've been lucky enough to win about 10k playing 2/4-5/10NL and 20/40LHE there. I love the 3-tabling because it seems to be the most optimal for me and it discourages 12-tabling nit/cyborgs from drying up the games.

Finally tally for March (including rb and yesterday's dabble into sportsbetting) should be about +6k

Congrats

That's a hell of accomplishment, especially since a few months ago it was all limit, all the time. Well done.

Zybomb 03-29-07 04:55 PM

Shabi -- (kind of off topic but) what made you make the jump to NL play?

Reel Deal 03-29-07 06:05 PM

Fuck Shabi.

PShabi 03-29-07 09:39 PM

1) Boredom
2) Months of what amounted to breakeven play at limit (i.e. up 2k this month, down 2k the next, etc.)
3) Seeing the astronomical success of board members here.
4) Trying it and seeing how much easier it was and how bad people sucked at it.

Mr. Variance, paging Mr. Variance.

I've been playing No Limit since the middle of December, and NL200 since December 30. This is a one month graph of less than 1/3 of the total hands I've played.

It's easier and the games are softer.

Edit:

Also, let's remember this. Most of you slackjaws practice little to no game/seat selection and when you do, you only look at lobby stats like players/flop or biggest avg. pot. I, on the other hand, have the WORST players at Full Tilt NL200 sitting to my right on a nightly basis.

Reel Deal 03-29-07 10:15 PM

What are you using to find them? Something more that PA-HUD and PT I take it?

Boobie Lover 03-29-07 10:25 PM

I used to be such a big whore of table selection, and didn't get any hands in because I would never have at least one huge megadonk at my table. Now, I'm a much better player, my winrate has improved, and put in way more hands than I did before.

In one of the Green Plastic videos, I remember him saying something to the effect of, "instead of focusing only on taking money from the horrible players, try to think about how to make money the regulars also." That rang true to me, and I have tried to find exploits in the people I play the most hands with, the regulars.

PShabi 03-29-07 10:30 PM

6th Sense

PShabi 03-29-07 10:34 PM

I agree. I focus my efforts on finding the horrible players, and inevitably, the regulars find him too! I keep notes on the regulars and do try exploit their tendencies as well. But I can't tell you how many times I see a table FULL of 6 regulars who I know are good players battling each other. That's pointless to me.

Honestly, I'm not trying to be the best poker player. I'm trying to make the most money. I realize there is a correlation between those two statements and I definitely improve, but for me, it's easier to beat the worst players.

bunny 03-29-07 11:27 PM

When you find them... do you watch and wait (or get in line) till your seat next to them is available? Or will you sit at their table, even though they are not to your right?

X-Longshot-X 03-29-07 11:42 PM

sit obviously, only a true moron would leave the seat to their right
