Are you sure, or do you have to actually submit it? I guess we'll know soon enough.

Robbie Robb 06-29-06 07:47 PM

From the 'My Summary' page:

Robbie Robb 07-02-06 12:02 PM

Okee....For some reason it's showing me as not having made any picks for Event 6. I don't know if that means that the picks didn't carry over or they did carry and will fill in when it's time to calculate points.

So I've now gone through and made my picks thru event 11.

There is an interesting bug though in their software it seems - it doesn't appear if anyone can see my picks. If you click on the 'view picks' for me, instead of getting your picks beside mine, you'll get a message at the top saying something along the lines of 'cannot find user robbie' and then just your picks below. I *think* it's most likely because of the space in my user name.

Sorry that it's hard to read. Here's the actual page:

Hey RD,

That's just for event #5 - that doesn't include the previous events. For others, go to that link RD provided and change the dropdown to 'Overall Fantasy Dollars'.

Here's the list:
So, as you can see, Blib is kickin' our asses but one event can turn that around...

Talking Poker 07-05-06 02:55 AM

One of the things I find most interesting about this is how many pros don't cash. I mean, I knew this, but it's actually kind of reassuring to see that when picking 15 of the best poker players in the world, it's quite common for 12, 14, or even all 15 of them to not even CASH, let alone go deep.

Robbie Robb 07-05-06 07:11 AM

I think that part of that reason is simply that whatever table they land at, EVERYONE is automatically gunning for them. Sure, the idea is to knock everyone out, but I bet that there are more people willing to take risks by pushing when someone like Raymer or Hellmuth (especially Hellmuth) makes a proper-sized raised. It really seems to limit the number of hands that the big names can actually play in. I think this is detrimental to people like Negreanu and Farha who play pretty much anything.

Sure, it would be great to make the money in any event, but think of the story you have (once you embellish it a bit) if you send Hellmuth to the rail and start him off on one his trademark tantrums.

Reel Deal 07-05-06 08:21 AM

Doh. Thanks RR.

Talking Poker 07-05-06 01:18 PM

Maybe... but what about the flop side? There are people who are intimidated by the big name players and who will be more likely to lay down a pretty big hand against them. Not only that, but what you are suggesting means it's MORE likely that they will get paid off when they have the goods.

I'm confident that this goes both ways, and pretty much evens out in the end.

Zybomb 07-05-06 02:55 PM

It's like what Howard Lederer said last year at the WSOP, everyone would just jump all over him everytime he bet or raised...he was getting played back at so much he just tightened up and let everyone come over the top of him with monsters (AA, Trip 9's etc) and double up through them... it took some readjustment

Robbie Robb 07-07-06 05:49 PM

What a difference one event makes...

Hellmuth's 2nd place clobbered us thanks to her having him as one of 'A' players. I had him as a 'C' player and Isabelle as a 'B' player. Too bad I didn't have both of them as 'A' players....

Talking Poker 07-07-06 11:51 PM

And I aparently didn't have either of them on my team. Whoops. :o

Reel Deal 07-08-06 10:00 AM

Just noticed that for event #5 I had 6 of my players cash... can anyone beat that?

BlibbityBlabbity 07-10-06 11:10 AM

Are you all playing in the freerolls that you are qualifing for? Each event has one for the top few hundred places. I am pretty sure I have been in some and not known it.....I thought it was top 100 but it looks like it is more than that. Nikita shoould be in a bunch now and is doing well toward a top overall spot too! gj

Nikita 07-10-06 11:27 AM

There's freerolls after each event?!! Well, crap, I guess that teaches me for not reading all the rules before signing up.

Robbie Robb 07-10-06 11:30 AM

OMG! I didn't even realize this! Shit! Last night was the freerolls for event #10 and event #12. The funny part is, I managed to finish 80th out of 500 for event #12 freeroll and I didn't even play!

Talking Poker 07-10-06 01:05 PM

Hmmm.... gues I forgot all about this.

Are the prizes worth playing for?

Robbie Robb 07-10-06 01:46 PM

For someone like me? Sure. $1000 Freeroll. The HORSE will have a $5K freeroll and the ME has a $10K Freeroll. For someone playing at higher stakes? Guess if you're really really bored....

That said, you and RD are both registered for the event going off tonight at 9:15pm Eastern.

Reel Deal 07-10-06 02:51 PM

LMAO!! I was going to look for a couple MTTs to play in tonight. Looks like one found me... I'm game. Thanks RR and BB.

Talking Poker 07-10-06 02:56 PM

Yes, I noticed. I'll give it a look if I'm around. Maybe I'll end up at a table with everyone else sitting out. That's always fun.

Reel Deal 07-10-06 03:26 PM

Man the site for this sure is down a lot. Blastpromo.com is going to lose this gig if they can't get their shit together.

Talking Poker 07-10-06 09:39 PM

So, I had forgotten all about the freeroll thing agin... but fortunately, I was playing at Full Tilt when it started and it popped up.

My table was completely empty EXCEPT for the person sitting to my right. Luckily for me, she was wicked passive and folded most of the time, allowing me to take the Blinds. Eventually, I busted her (see below) and had the table to myself for a few hands....

Then some tool came along and sat there, thinking he could play with me. Ask N1kita how that worked out for him.

Well, not really "exit," as he is STILL here complaining, threatening to file an "Abuse Report" with Full Tilt. I guess I raised too much - LOL!!!

Wow. Allen Cunningham really ended up kicking my ass in the standings. While, okay, not HIM per se, just all the people that had him as their 'A' or 'B' players. I'm hangin' onto 2nd by the very ends of my fingernails here...

I hope my HORSE picks pan out really good!
