No he's gonna share the load with deuce. But deuce got injured last year, he was my first fuckin pick last year, and who's to say he won't get injured and bush takes over. Kinda like when i traded Larry Johnson to you last year TP cuz he wasn't starting t hen priest got injured and that was that. Bush is an amazing talent. If he was starting i'd gamble on him late in the first round.

I just spent the last hour (or two?) doing some research for my REAL FFL auction that is on Sunday. I've been in this particular league for years and it's pretty serious (it's not about the money - it's about the pride). I've got a little spreadsheet with my position rankings, all the carryed over players marked, and of course the budget for my team (Yes, I can and will be spending $43 of my $100 on ONE RB!). This prep work may sound like a bit much, but that is NOTHING copared to some of the other guys in the league. A couple of them wrote big Access databases to handle everything... one of them is good enough that he was considering selling it. And I honestly think he could. It's basically Poker Tracker for Fantasy Football.

Anyway, I digress................

But yeah, I'm getting psyched for football season and am looking forward to stoming on you bitches in the process.

Talking Poker 08-25-06 01:51 AM

BTW - the only player I am carrying over from last year to this year is Eli Manning. He was $1 last season (I got him at the auction), meaning I can carry him for $6 this year. We have $100 to filed a team of:

QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, TE, RB/WR/TE, K... plus backups, of course.

High end QBs go for $20+ with Manning maybe going for close to $30. The Top few RB go for around $40. Top WRs go for in the low $20s, usually, and the top TEs are in the mid to high teens. Ks are $3 max.

Given that, thoughts on my holding Eli for $6? I figure he's cheap enough for me to lock him up now, and focus on spending big money on a couple of other studs instead. I'm expecting him to be better this year than he was last year.

GeoffM 08-25-06 09:40 AM

Eli would be a steal at even 11 IMO, so you'll probably be holding on to him for at least 2 years.

In terms of TE, I'd imagine that Gates would cost you WR money? If not, save the money on a high end receiver and just go after Gates at around $15. With the rookie QB and all, I'd imagine Gates will see a lot of short dump passes. He is the equivalent of Terrell Owens IMO.

And for Bush, if you can grab him in the $25 area, he would be well worth it. Since it is a keeper league, you might want to buy him low and wait a year to get bargain-basement action on him.

GTDawg 08-25-06 10:47 AM

How are you guys not gonna take Reggie Bush first? Dude won the heisman last year. I mean, seriously. That's cold.

*eyes LT at second pick*
===========

I just realized the Braves are coming in town that night as I have to be at work 9/6 at 7pm...so I probably won't be done until after 10 at least.

I'll go ahead and up my rankings, but I'm gonna have a friend or two watching things for me.

Talking Poker 08-25-06 11:07 AM

If I wanted Eli for 2 years, I'd have to sign him now (for 2 years at $11 per year). Once you give a guy a contract, that's it. You can't extend it. This league really is awesome. As for Gates, he's in my game plan. If I can get him for $14 or $15, I will. Otherwise, I'm going to get Shockey (nice combo with Eli) or Gonzo. I plan to spend more money on one of those three guys than BOTH of my WRs combined. I've also budgeted $65 for TWO RBs... I'd really like to get LT or Alexander, and then a nice low $20s player... If I can get Bush for that, and I should be able to, I might.

GeoffM 08-25-06 11:35 AM

You might want to keep your eye on a guy like Kevan Barlow and pay a little more for Alexander or LT.

kmb13592 08-25-06 12:20 PM

Any idea how much Stephen Jackson is. If he is near what Bush is I would snag him i a second. Jackson is gonna be the biggest breakout of the year.

Talking Poker 08-25-06 02:05 PM

He was carried over by someone else.

And Barlow isn't even starting, right?

Westbrook is the oher guy I have my eye on as my #2 RB...

GeoffM 08-25-06 02:32 PM

Barlow will be starting for the Jets!

And Westbrook is already hobbling.

lightfungus 08-25-06 03:53 PM

Just so everyone knows, eejit has been kicked and GTDawg should be taking his place as soon as he signs up.

kmb13592 08-25-06 03:55 PM

Can I send someone the $10 before I lose it.

jillaj 08-25-06 08:59 PM

I am sure whoever is holding the money will let you. Hell you can send it to me and I will pay 20 when they collect if are afraid you will lose the money that quickly.

Talking Poker 08-25-06 11:01 PM

Since I'm in the league, if we are doing the $10 thing (I didn't even know we were for sure), go ahead and send it to TalkingPoker on Stars.

How are we gonna do payouts? 60/30/10% for 1st through 3rd after the playoffs? Something like that?

Everyone who is in, go ahead and transfer now.

juiCe[3x] 08-25-06 11:04 PM

Is there any spots left open in this league? If so i might join in and do the $10 wager.

GeoffM 08-26-06 02:31 AM

How do we determine 3rd vs. 4th Einstein :D .

I'll send you $10 when I put money in Stars. Until then, it doesn't really matter, I'm takin' 'er down anyway.

Talking Poker 08-26-06 09:49 AM

Uh.... they would PLAY EACH OTHER. Winner gets third. Loser gets 4th.

I know that may sound CRAZY...

Aequitas58 08-30-06 08:17 PM

One week and (basically) one hour away until draft time.

Who's already in for the $10 side bet?

EDIT: I agree w/ TP's point changes except for the QB point / pass yards. I prefer 1pt. / 30 yds or even 1pt. / 20 yds. Whoever is running this thing... if you make point changes, please post them before the draft date.

Talking Poker 08-30-06 09:08 PM

Yeah, we remember how ridiculous the league was set up last year, where sucko guys like Favre were still scoring more than 2 RBs per week, despite throwing 3 or 4 picks per game.

At 1 point per 50, a 300 year game = 6 points. That's similar to a 100 yard game for RBs/WRs, which at 1 point per 20 = 5 points. In other words, it's balanced.

When a few RBs are running for 300 yards per week, I'l agree we should score them equally with QBs, but until then, this is fair.

BlibbityBlabbity 09-02-06 02:17 AM

I This the final set of settings for the league, or are more being made?

Also, are we actually doing the $10 pool? If so I will send money to TP on Tuesday (assuming my dentist doesn't give me any bad news...)

I vote to get rid of the W/R position. Anyone else?

lightfungus 09-02-06 11:20 AM

In such a big league, I don't see removing W/R as a problem and I kinda like the idea. If anyone else agrees, I will be happy to axe it.

On a side note, I just signed up for intraural flag football at 9:15 on wednesday, and thus will be missing the draft....unless you guys don't mind me bumping it to 10:30. If this is a horrible idea let me know. I just did a 14 person draft with about the same amount of rounds and it took like an hour and 30 minutes so it wasn't too bad. Lemme know, thanks.

Talking Poker 09-02-06 11:55 AM

I can do 10:30, but you better make sure everyone else can too.

And I'm more than willing to lose the W/R position... I thought you guys liked that stuff. I'm a purist.

kmb13592 09-02-06 12:05 PM

What is this position, a wide reciever or running back slot?

lightfungus 09-02-06 01:55 PM

Yes.
