Title: Mark Petrillo Folds to Survive the Bubble
Log: Mark Petrillo bets preflop, and David "Devilfish" Ulliott pushes all in. Petrillo takes a long time to consider the call, finally saying, "I think we'd be racing," and he folds A-K suited faceup. Devilfish returns the favor by showing pocket threes. It would have been a race situation, but Petrillo would be risking his tournament life on the bubble, and chose to wait for a better spot.

Edited to add: So much for the theory that TP would get to play at a soft table for most of the day. Can't wait to hear the Devilfish story.

Penguinfan 09-29-05 03:16 PM

If anyone besides TP makes this fold, the board would be all over them.

Congrats on making the money TP, you deserve it.

johnp158 09-29-05 03:57 PM

You really think so? On the bubble and everything? This isn't chump change.

2Tone 09-29-05 04:00 PM

A case could be made either way

But right on the bubble like that, I think you fold into the money. $5g is just too much to put on a horserace.

Fantastic job TP. Keep at it.

Quint 09-29-05 04:15 PM

Not sure what his stack looked like at that time, but considering his goals; make the money, reach the break-even stage for his backers, etc... it was the right play.

They've passed another bubble already and should be within 45-50 places of the break-even level for his backers.

Penguinfan 09-29-05 04:33 PM

This refers to threads of the past. I think laying that down in that situation is perfectly acceptable.

A case could be made for playing it, DevilFish is certainlly known for making a move like this with ANY two cards, putting him on a pair was a good read, hell it was a great read.

I do find it funny that he had to make a big decision like this ON THE BUBBLE considering what has been discussed here before, maybe it's a sign of things to come, like a MILLION THINGS TO COME?

Good luck TP

MAYHEM45 09-29-05 04:44 PM

Wow TP good stuff. Keep hanging in there, were all behind you!

JDMcNugent7 09-29-05 04:52 PM

keep it up man, one double up and ur all good.

Penguinfan 09-29-05 04:55 PM

Uh Oh

Wonder why he isn't listed in the most recent chip count?

Hopefully the just forgot him considering the connection problems they are having.

2Tone 09-29-05 05:02 PM

Who's more up to date?

The UB blog lists ...
MARK 'ymark' PETRILLO -- 57

which would put him not that below Cardplayer's average count and gaining momentum ...

Quint 09-29-05 05:02 PM

Got a little worried myself, but the UB log shows him at 57,000 at the end of level 12 (no idea where that puts him in relation to average).

JDMcNugent7 09-29-05 05:07 PM

average 76k

Penguinfan 09-29-05 05:15 PM

I was just looking at the Cardplayer.com log since he said they would be updating his chip count. Thanks for the info. Him and his buddies here dislike me, but I am still rooting for him.

JDMcNugent7 09-29-05 05:16 PM

man i wish we could watch this thing live. that would be so awesome.

PShabi 09-29-05 05:17 PM

Stop being a whiny little bitch.

Everybody in the world makes that fold. He wouldn't have folded AA, like some people.

If you don't leave the forum LIKE YOU SAID YOU WERE, I'm gonna have to request your name gets changed to BitchSwa.

BrianSwa 09-29-05 05:17 PM

Penguinfan 09-29-05 06:24 PM

The way he plays? No chip stack is safe in front of him. Big stack or bust it seems.
