Alien Poker

Here's the deal about "Alien Poker": they are giving players money so they can tweak their poker site. You don't get to keep the money they put in your account, but they do give you 0.25 cents per hand played. They say they should be done testing in December 15th or earlier.

Talking Poker 10-25-06 01:22 PM

So why bother? Sounds like Play Money to me.

BrianSwa 10-25-06 01:24 PM

well

I assume he is saying you get .25 for each hand you play with the play money to keep after testing.

Talking Poker 10-25-06 01:25 PM

Well, I don't believe that then. I'm "skeptical," to say the least. If they are giving you "play money" and you are ricking nothing, and they are willing to pay you 25 cents per hand that you play (with play money!), well, that just doesn't make sense.

That's $250 per 1000 hands played!

Edit: Maybe it's true... I'm just saying, I'd be skeptical. VERY skeptical. But if you don't have to deposit, there is no risk, so why not give it a shot....

BrianSwa 10-25-06 01:29 PM

K

I signed up for heck of it so far 2 people on site and $0 in my account but the funny thing is there is a way to deposit using credit card. If they are in beta why is it possible to deposit.

Alien Poker is PAYING YOU to test our software! Until December 15, 2006 (or earlier if all goes well) we will be beta testing. We have set aside thousands of dollars for testing and this pool of money will be disbursed at the rate of $0.25 per hand played at the end of the test. You will be given test money to play with after you have registered. Be sure to give our customer service department feedback on our games.

I'm also very skeptical, we shall see.

update $200 in account.

update update: game moves very very very slow right now.

omahilo 10-25-06 02:02 PM

I might try it...

if you really get .25 cents per hand played that is alot of money to earn but the thing is if they go under before December 15th you will never see any of that money.

I wouldnt see why they would lie about this promo if they want to keep a player base at their site tho...

so who knows....

if the game play becomes normal, let me know, I might give it a try.

BrianSwa 10-25-06 02:34 PM

well

I suggest if you are interested sign up because even though its not said im guesing when they hit a certain number of players they will stop taking them till after beta.

bdawg31 10-25-06 03:24 PM

This is ALMOST as crazy as someone paying people a nickel for each post that they make on a poker forum!!!

Nikita 10-25-06 04:26 PM

Brian, you only got $200? I started with $300 in my account.

It may be too good to be true, but it's not costing me any money to try so I might as well. I'm such a bonus whore.

Talking Poker 10-25-06 05:13 PM

It was a DIME, tyvm.

BrianSwa 10-25-06 07:43 PM

yes

yea I only started with $200, they most likley have a set amount of money they are spending on users and maybe they are comming to end of it.

jdiana86 10-25-06 08:17 PM

if u go broke they give u more money

thrash1294 10-25-06 08:54 PM

I remember th dime per post thing I was the 46th forum member .
I did not join the forum for the money thing as you can tell from my post count:thumbsup: I thank Tp for A great forum

Nikita 10-25-06 09:08 PM

That's good to know. Although, it would be hard to do so. At one point today there was no one seated at any of the cash tables.

BrianSwa 10-25-06 09:10 PM

well

that actully happens alot, there is no one sitting right now.

bdawg31 10-25-06 10:53 PM

Well, that is not crazy......that is FUCKING INSANE!!!!

MAYHEM45 10-25-06 10:56 PM

Hmm, they give you more when you bust? $200 flips anyone?

omahilo 10-26-06 01:47 AM

well I signed up... guess we will see what happens.

Gordogg 10-26-06 04:05 AM

I'm going to give this a shot as well.

BrianSwa 10-26-06 05:41 PM

well

I have been signed up for a sit and go for 2 days now maybe it will start in a week.

jdiana86 10-26-06 05:56 PM

Here's the deal... You have to signup of the poker club under my account. its under your play real money amount. i emailed support and they said they would start keeping track of points, which can be exchanged for cash, in a few days. looks promising.

BrianSwa 10-26-06 06:07 PM

well

hiimbob12 10-26-06 07:35 PM

hiimbob12 10-26-06 08:14 PM

jdiana86 10-26-06 09:44 PM

Tony Cheval 10-27-06 12:35 AM

Hmm, TP tables anyone? :D

BlibbityBlabbity 11-10-06 11:08 AM

So, I got $12 in my account yesterday and played in a freerooll there and I was going to send thenm some feedback, but I don't even know where to start.

Their whole MTT system is all messed up:

1) no chip racing and split pots actually being "split" to give out fractions of the minimum chip.
2) Then the betting slider bet box will not let you bet theose odd amounts, so you bet as much as you have and are left with .15 or something.
3) THEN, if the blinds hit you with less than the blind in your stack you are out instead of being all in in for what you have.
4) The blinds are like a super turbo.
5) SLOW, slow and slow!

I went out in 4th (3 pay) with 1100 left in my stack when the blinds went up to 600/1200 (after less than an hour) and I didn't quite have the 1200 BB. The big stack was 6500 or so.

Talking Poker 11-10-06 12:55 PM

Gosh..... that sounds..... um......

Yup, pretty much exactly like I expected.

Seriously though - that is BAD. I wonder why these new small sites try to program everything themselves (I assume that is what they are doing), instead of buying decent functioning software from someone else...

BlibbityBlabbity 11-10-06 01:29 PM

it gets worse, apparently there are no tie hands. Straight flush on board and QJ beat Q4 (neither playing in the SF). SF, with QJ kickers, lol

Talking Poker 11-10-06 01:36 PM

That's awesomer.

I wonder if "3 pair" can win when that player is actually playing the board. For example:

Board: 9944K
Me: AQ
You: 33

I wonder who would win?

BlibbityBlabbity 11-10-06 01:39 PM

Better:

Board: 99449
Me: AQ
You: 33

Does the dual FH win or the AK kickers? Based on what I have seen so far I would gues AK takes it with the high cards....lol

This is a SICK SICK site. They also have you post dead blinds in an MTT if you are moved to a new table in MP...

I understand that this is beta freeroll time, but this stuff should have been pre-beta, IMO

Zelgadiss 11-10-06 04:56 PM

That explain what happened with me in one freeroll.

The blinds are fine, 10 minutes, i guess. But is too slow, then, look like a super turbo because you are playing less.

And i got 9.75 for beta testing.

And the "new" rules are strange. You can win with a "sidekicker".

Tony Cheval 11-11-06 12:55 AM

Yeah, I got a whole $4.50 from the beta. And the freeroll I was in crashed and was cancelled.

Also in MTTs at least, there are no autoplay options. Yeah I know you shouldn't make a habit of using them, but it's nice to at least have it when you get 72o and want to grab a drink while they're playing the hand out (though I suppose the fact that no one else has them either means the hand should be slow enough anyway).

BrianSwa 11-13-06 03:50 PM

welp

ended with about $176 from beta, requested a withdraw we shall see but im not counting on it.

hiimbob12 11-13-06 03:57 PM

Wowow, i only got like 3.75 or something lol.

Tony Cheval 11-13-06 04:48 PM

Hey thanks for letting us know you were playing.

BrianSwa 11-13-06 06:27 PM

well

didnt know I ever denied it?

Nikita 11-13-06 06:58 PM

So did you actually send them a copy of your photo ID? It seemed like a hassle and something I've never had to do for any other site. And I didn't see any other way to get the money out of there.

Tony Cheval 11-13-06 07:27 PM

Eh, all I know is I only got one other person to join up when I set up the private table, that got kinda boring.

BlibbityBlabbity 11-13-06 07:33 PM

Well as soon as they get the bugs worked out it would be ok to have a private table there. But with the wrong hands winning at showdown there isn't much point to putting any real money (assuming it really is yours) on the table yet.

BrianSwa 11-13-06 07:50 PM

no

not yet I'm waiting on there email asking me for it. If they ask I will send it to them, I wouldn't for a couple dollars but for $176 I will. Like I said I'm not holding my breath here.
