Donkeytest
This was on the frontpage of cardrunners this morning, take the test then post your score here. I got a 112 while talking on the phone and MSN at the same time, pretty dumb of me, but i got called right after I clicked start on the timed test. That probably affected my score a bit. I'm interested to see what some others here get on it. |
Your PokerIQ is: 116
Your Complete Poker Intelligence Profile has been generated and can be accessed immediately for only $9.95. Wonder if that complete anaylsis thing would be cool? I kinda rushed this considering I have to leave for work now... but I dont think it changed much |
Your PokerIQ is: 107.
As its mainly a cash game question i expected that. And ill admit i had NO CLUE as to "the reverse implied odds" question. |
Your PokerIQ is: 110
|
I also had a 116. I was hoping to be in the low to mid 120s range, to be honest.
The test took me longer than I expected - about 40 minutes to complete - not sure if that affects my score or not. I had a couple of distractions early on, and then admittedly took forever (3-4 minutes) on one question towards the end. The one where you need to figure out what all three players had. I felt like I knew the answers to many of the questions, but I will gladly admit that some of them were VERY tough situations where I just wasn't sure which answer was better. I'll pay for my profile and tell you guys if it's worth it. |
I think this test may be pretty decent - So far, the scores posted in this thread don't surprise me... and please don't anyone take offence to that... Remember, 100 is average.
Also, I just noticed this LOL-testamonament on their site: |

OK, here is what the paid results look like. I'm not exactly sure what the numbers in the graph represent.. I think the "This score is better than xx.xx% of all persons taking this test" ones are much more important.
BTW - as you can see in the graph, I got penalized for my (lack of) speed. Even without distractions, I doubt I would have been above 50% of the other test takers though... For some reason, it's way easier for me to "see" poker than it is for me to "read" poker. I found myself having to reread quite a bit as I was going through the test. The only that that really surprises me in my results is my terrible Tournament score. I don't think there were enough tournament questions, to be honest, and I'm very surprised that I finished that poorly in that category. Meh. I can't say my suckiness with big pairs (better than exactly 50% of the other test takers) surprises me, honestly. Conversly, check this out: Anyway, here is the full text of my report, in case anyone else is considering purchasing theirs: |

Now that I have seen , I definitely would have liked to score in the 120s (and maybe I would have, if not for the distractions/interruptions that killed my time). I still think this test is pretty accurate though.
They have had 43,546 people (and counting) take the test so far, so the 100 mean score thing should most definitely be accurate. |
Your PokerIQ is: 110
Cool test. |
We should place bets on what JD will score.
I hope all the regulars here take this... will be very interested to see if anyone scores REALLY high - or if anyone will admit to scoring less than 100, even though that's to be expected for a lot of the less experienced players here. |
112
I think I push all-in too much. |
I'll burst the bubble. score of 95.
Took me just about an hour as soon as I started I had to get my ass kicked at Candyland (I even cheated and my 3.5 year old still won) and feed my 1.5 year old. For pride sake I would like to take it again, but I guess that score would be biased so I will have to live with my low score. Alas, I suck. |
I bombed
92, though in my defense I had to really rush the last third or so due to an upcoming meeting. But my low score does serve as an endorsement of the test. As predicted with that score, I am not beating 1/2 NL live cash games.
The analysis you get seemed pretty good, and I'll retry the test again when I have more time to see what impact that has. |
I feel for you...
I can't tell you how many times I was a double red or better from the Candy Kingdom and then BAM! I draw Mr. Mint. My daughter's maniacal laugh makes it feel even worse! |
Me and TP in the lead at 116 so far (till SJay or JD respond most likely -- eh who knows maybe not)
Out of curiousity (DONT READ IF YOU DIDNT TAKE THE TEST YET) What did everyone put for the 118k stack T5o in the BB to the 10k CO push? I folded, but Im thinking I maybe was supposed to call with any two there |
Easy call. Anytime you have 10x the chips in your stack what the raiser is pushing, call with any two.
|
I clicked call. Didn't even think much more about it.
|
I don't think we should talk about any more questions from the test (not for a few days anyway), as it would be impossible for people who haven't take it it to not apply when they read here.... but since the cat is out of the bag on this one already, I also clicked fold and I also believe that is incorrect. In my mind, this was VERY close and I almost went the other way with it. Fortunately for me, I'm not in this situation often. :o
|
I chose call because of my stack size relative to the pushers stack. I thought for a moment that folding might be the right play because I don't want to give the shortstack a good shot at doubling up against my weak holdings. But, after thinking more about it, the reward of him being out of the tourney if he lost outweighed the risk of doubling him up.
|
I called
The key for me was that it was "late" in the tourney, when presumably the value of knocking a player out is greater than earlier. It didn't say whether doing so puts me ITM or whether that is already the case, but stack sizes seemed to justify calling with any two in this case.
Then again, I scored below 100  |
I bombed as well but almost broke 100. :p
Your PokerIQ is: 99 I was also doing stuff during this but thats not an excuse :D |
123
test was good, a few were really close, but as I filled out a few i knew most people would get them wrong. i actually thought i would do pretty bad on this cuz i dont really read poker i just learn mostly by playing. pretty sick that bldswttrs got 150 i think i folded a few too much, but some of those situations were really weird - i mean so many were 4bet on the flop, and i dont remember the last time I've had a hand like that that wasn't a huge cold deck. |
108 for me
|
I got a 112.
|
One of the lower scores, 99.

Poker IQ Score
Your General Poker IQ Score is 132 and shows how skilled you are in general. Anyone with a score this high is considered to be a high stakes pro. This score is better than 98.36% of all persons taking this test. You have a strong technical understanding of poker and should expect to do well in most high stakes NL hold'em games. You scored higher than your average percentile score in 7 individual ability categories. 3 of these better scores could be called statistically significant and may indicate special abilities, or that you were distracted on those parts of the IQ Test that counted more heavily in the other ability categories. Position Solving many of the IQ Test's problems required the ability to analyze your position at the table, considering blind levels and stack sizes, the tendencies of your opponents and the strength of your hand.. Many poker situations require analysis of position. The ability to play in and out of position strongly is required for skilled NL Hold’em players. Your Positional Play score of 88% is exceptionally higher than your average score. This score is better than 99.83% of all persons taking this test. Blinds Understanding what changes occur when out of position but required to put in half a bet are important. By far, the blinds will be any NL Hold’em player's least profitable seats. It is important to play out of the blinds correctly in order to minimize losses over time. Your Blinds score of 82% is exceptionally higher than your average score. This score is better than 99.44% of all persons taking this test. Tournaments This is the ability to change your strategy, hand strengths, calling and pushing ranges as blinds and antes rise. It is most useful during tournament play, but is useful in dealing with short stacks in deeper stacked cash game play. It is important to learn tournament skills even for cash game specialists. Strong tournament skills should translate to more tournament cashes and deeper finishes. Your Tournament Play score of 47% is significantly lower than your average score. This score is better than 52.66% of all persons taking this test. Big Pairs The ability to play big pairs correctly is important for any successful NL Hold’em player. Although over time big pairs will be the most profitable hands, playing them incorrectly can lead to disastrous results. Beginners get themselves into trouble by slow playing and/or overplaying big pairs, and often try to be excessively tricky with them. Although poor players sometimes play their big pairs correctly, it is rare. In general better players will win more and lose less with JJ+ as they gain skill and experience. Your Big Pairs score of 72% is not significantly different from your average score. This score is better than 96.41% of all persons taking this test. Small and Medium Pairs The ability to play small and medium pairs is typically difficult for beginners. Typically beginners will call too much pre-flop with these hands and overplay overpairs on the flop. Folding a set is rarely correct but sometimes necessary. Your Small and Medium Pairs score of 100% is exceptionally higher than your average score. This score is better than greater than 99.99% of all persons taking this test. Bluffing Bluffing is big part of NL Hold’em. Bluffing and semi-bluffing at the right times is important. So is recognizing that an opponent is likely to be bluffing and acting accordingly. Balancing your own bluffs and adjusting opponent calling ranges is essential. Your Bluffing score of 64% is significantly lower than your average score. This score is better than 89.74% of all persons taking this test. Flop Texture Adjusting your play based on the "texture" of the flop is important. The flop cards should be analyzed in light of your opponent's tendencies, his suspected hand range, and the strength of your own hand. Failing to include the flop texture in your post flop decision making is a typical beginner mistake and is easily disastrous. As you gain experience in NL Hold’em and play against more experienced opponents, it will become second nature and of paramount importance. Your Flop Texture score of 81% is exceptionally higher than your average score. This score is better than 99.32% of all persons taking this test. Pot Odds Sometimes you are required to call when you know you're losing because the price is right. Sometimes you must fold because you're facing a bet that is too big or because an opponent does not have enough money behind to justify an implied odds call. Failing to make the correct odds calls is a major error. Sometimes it is correct to call in some surprising situations. Your Pot Odds score of 63% is significantly lower than your average score. This score is better than 88.49% of all persons taking this test. Logic Logically analyzing the action during a hand is important. Players with strong logical ability are quicker to see where a given set of conditions is leading, better understand the technical aspects of the game, often move up quickly in stakes and have little trouble with bankroll management. Your Logic score of 80% is not significantly different from your average score. This score is better than 99.18% of all persons taking this test. Betting Patterns An awareness of betting patterns serves a number of purposes. It is useful for analyzing the playing styles of opponents and for finding errors in your own game. Often beginning players have no awareness of common betting patterns. Experienced players are sometimes able to watch a hand, adjust for the skill, experience and tendencies of each player and determine almost exactly what each player holds. Your Betting Patterns score of 79% is not significantly different from your average score. This score is better than 99.02% of all persons taking this test. Hand Selection It is important choose which hands to play by adjusting for position, stack sizes, and the tendencies of your opponents. Beginners often have no awareness of relative hand strength, often play weak hands out of position, or easily dominated hands against tight opponents. Your Hand selection score of 76% is not significantly different from your average score. This score is better than 98.36% of all persons taking this test. Aggression Aggression is important in poker. It increases your equity in most hands by giving you an extra way to win the pot. Your opponent may fold. Playing passively yields only one way to win -- with the best hand at showdown. Beginners typically play too loose and too passive. Excessively aggressive players will lose less than passive players. A balanced tight aggressive strategy is typically best for NL Hold’em depending on game conditions and stack sizes. Loose aggressive style is more difficult to master but can often be extremely profitable. Your Aggression score of 75% is not significantly different from your average score. This score is better than 98.06% of all persons taking this test. Computational Speed Solving problems quickly indicates a combination of experience and card sense. Experienced players can often play most hands automatically, and only require significant thought for the most complex situations. Experienced players should easily answer a good amount of the questions on this test, leaving extra time to focus on the more complex situations. Your Computational Speed score of 79% is not significantly different from your average score. This score is better than 99.02% of all persons taking this test. Too bad this test isn't the end all be all of poker skill or I would apparently own ass. Tournies are for sure the weakest part of my game as this test confirmed. |
i dont believe it (and you wont either)
I scored a 126. I forwarded the email score i got to TP as 'proof' (yes, i could doctor it - but he knows me, i wouldnt lie :-) .
I am going to log on to see my breakdown. I totally focused on this - tv off and everything (now that is dedication). To be honest - i had totally expected to literally get the worst score that anyone had put on here. If i got rock bottom, as embarrassed as i was going to be about it - i was going to post it. I was actually NERVOUS to take this - would this confirm my last year of total ass-kickings!?!? I am embarrassed at the fact i was nervous to open that email. Believe me when i tell you that a year of getting your ass kicked can do funny things to you. While i was taking this test, i kept asking myself "am i finding the fold button too often?" But, when i found it, i found it and went with it. I know this has been a leak in my game while playing, especially the last 6 months or so after frustration set in. I had talked with TP about the fact that i had considered just going back to focusing on limit - because i seem to have that one collosal mistake (mini-mike matasow breakdown) that kills me. I dunno. OKay, off to read the breakdown i guess...... edit: didnt know the breakdown was $10.00 - i am not buying that. I am now assuming they just gave me a high score to get me to buy the breakdown :-) |
Got a 118. Did a little better than expected but not as well as I hoped for. I am bad at reading poker scenarios and getting an answer that i would get if I was playing. I should see what I get just randomnly clicking.
edit just took it again and clicked whatever bubble i saw first and got a 98. I wonder how much the quickness with which I was done affected that. |
Your PokerIQ is: 101
But I stopped at question 43 out of 55 questions(I think its 55). This was after like 35 min and I thought my time would be up or something so I went ahead and clicked submit. Wish I had finished. Oh well. |
Well I passed....
with a score of 104.... Kinda of just below the middle, which is good I guess |
pretty good scores really.
w/o this forum we would all prob score like 50 |
I used to be in the 140s. You tools have dumbed me way down.
No, seriously - very good scores overall (of those who posted). I hope sjay takes the test... He was my pick to score the highest, but that was before I saw Van Broke's ridiculously high score. vn, btw. |
That's why I'm here
95. Hey, I guess that is why I come here. (to learn)
Now if only I could snatch the pebble from Van Broked's hand... (for the very young, that's a "Kung Fu" reference) |
93. :(
This score made me think about the future, my future (in the poker world). I am pretty sure I am a better player than I was before I came here, but I don't think I will ever be as good a poker player, as many of you already are. That being said, as soon as I am done clearing my bonus or maybe sooner, I will leave this and poker behind me. (I hope) **As for my Two of them (goals 2 & 3), have moved into my APRIL Goals and 1 & 4; have been met. |
Being a "good poker player" isn't the most important thing in the world. My marriage has improved a lot since I realized that.;)
Seriously though, as long as your not losing money and you're having fun, why quit? Also, I have a confession to make. I wrote the "Donkeytest." You're actually a donkey if you spent 45 minutes taking this test instead of actually playing poker and maximizing profit. Guess everybody's a donkey except me! Noobs. |
I brought up the rear a sickly 89 and no excuses:eek:
|
well obviously shabi scored <85. :D
|
lol thanks i'll give it a try now
|
86, eh?
|
DAMMIT, JD... Beating me to an easy joke....
Looking forward to sjay's results. I'll predict > 130. |

i didn't really like the test. Questions like this are pretty ridiculous, imo:
"5/10 NL Cash game. 10 handed. Everyone has about $1,000. Solid player UTG limps. A tight player in middle raises to $40, a tight aggressive player behind him re-raises to $150, and the button puts in a third raise for half his stack to $500. You are in the BB with KK" Firstly I wouldn't play 6-handed against four good TAG opponents. And how often will you be facing a cold 4-bet with KK in the BB? I chose raise all-in here because I will never fold KK for 100BBs, but I'm almost certain the answer they wanted was fold and I lost points there. From your comments above it looks like I got the big-stack tourney question wrong (calling with T5 just seemed wrong to me, but i know absolutely nothing about tourneys). |
The test isn't supposed to be 100% realistic. It gives a number of extreme examples and marginal situatiuons with multiple answers that COULD be ok - it's up to you to choose the best one.
Looking at the results in this thread, and from what I have heard elsewhere, I think the test is pretty darn accurate, give or take maybe 8 points. 127 is a VERY good score. |
I wonder what score i would have got , lol.
|
Wow. I forgot that you only moved to NL then. You used to grind out limit at Pacific, right?
|
I also think this test can be skewed because it doesnt not require a thought process behind answers.
A very bad player can choose fold simply because he's scared money , while a very good player can choose fold because of the range of hands that act this way and a read on opponents play and the strength of hands etc etc. They might both pick the same answer but for very different reasons. Similarly a very bad player can call because he is a station while a very good player can call because of the range of hands he puts his opponent one based on his actions throughout the hands and the % that he beats etc. Because of this , this may skew your score in one direction (either up or down). Im also curious as to who wrote this test and if there is a "correct" answer for each situation (i.e if its played out 1 million times whats the right play) and if so how they know this... While I think this test is a solid one, I think one has to keep this into consideration This is not by any means meant as a shot at anyones score (my own included) high or low by the way |
BTW Im also interested to see what Kurn scored on this test
|
Go read their FAQ. Some of this is addressed there.
No poker test will ever be perfect, but the issues you bring up should work themselves out by the end of the test. Calling stations and scared money WILL end up with lower scores than good, thinking players. And 100 will be EXACTLY the average (well, mean, I guess) score for this test. |
I finally got around to taking this (and didn't get interrupted!). Somehow managed a 121. I'm thinking being a fast reader/test taker helped me on this (finished in under 25 minutes).
Anyone want to trade $10 on PayPal for $12 on Stars so I can order the full analysis? Pretty please? PM me if you do. Thanks. |
