Charity Poker Tournament

Thanks to Mark for allowing me to post this!

My name is Chane Steiner, I'm the owner of TheRoundersRoom. My nephews Braeden (4) and Bronson (2) both have neurofibromatosis (NF) type 1, and as a result have bilateral optic glioma brain tumors. In addition, Braeden has congenital pseudoarthrosis of his left tibia (leg bowing) due to his NF. Braeden has successfully completed 60 weeks of chemotherapy treatments and one day his tibia will likely be replaced with a steel rod. Bronson began chemotherapy treatment on February 27.

We are having a tournament at Full Tilt (and running in a 10k race) to raise money for the Children's Tumor Foundation. You can read more about it here:

Here are the details of the tournament:

Where: Full Tilt Poker
Title: Rounders Room Charity
Password: charity
Date: March 24
Time: 8 PM EST
Buyin: $5 + $5 $5 for the pot, $5 for CTF
Game: NL Holdem

We would love to have you play with us! Feel free to give the password out to EVERYONE you know!

If you have any other ideas to help us out, please contact me. If you would like to see more pics of my gorgeous nephews or have any questions about NF or CTF, just reply in this thread!

Thanks for your help!

I hope to see some TPers in this tourney. I'm going to try to make it. Actually, I'm going to register now anyway, and if I can't make it and end up sitting out the whole time, so be it...

Monday, 8 PM - be there! Maybe we can get a low limit TP cash game going on afterwards.

Invigilator 03-20-08 04:01 PM

I am in and registered. Pre-register wieners! Who cares if you can make it.

bunny 03-20-08 04:50 PM

My suggestion would have been to -not add a password- if you really wanted to get as many players into this tournament as possible, but since it's probably too late to correct this, I will do my very best to spam your tournament to all sites I am a member of and to my friends as well.

I'm not 100 % I can make it, but seeing it's for a good cause I will pre-register just the same.

All the best to you, your nephews and your nephews' family.

CalifNaughti 03-20-08 07:58 PM

Im going to go register in this one and may be late arriving. I moved Melting Pot to Monday nights because I got alot going on on Wed nights now. I try to make all charity events even if I have to sit out.
Thank you for letting me know about this and I will be sure to tell other forums.
Cali

Invigilator 03-20-08 10:43 PM

FTP could probably do this (at least I don't see why not), but it since it is done under the structure of a private tournament, so the password is standard.

chane 03-22-08 12:15 AM

Yeah, I wish they would have just made it a public tournament and explained the $5 fee in the little tournament information area.

There are actually a bunch of things I wish were different about the set up of the tournament. I had my tournament director set it up and didn't explain to her how to do it.

We may be having 1 or 2 more tournaments before our deadline of May 3. So, hopefully Mark will allow me to post about that one as well.

Anyway, thanks to everyone who is playing with us and telling others about it. It really means a lot to me. If you ever need anything, hit me up!

Invigilator 03-24-08 05:06 PM

I am registered, but may miss this one. If I do, have fun kids.

Talking Poker 03-24-08 05:20 PM

Thanks for the bump. I forgot about this. I need a break from normal poker anyway, so I'm going to try to make this tonight.

Talking Poker 03-24-08 08:44 PM

Looks like only 4 TP Members ion thios tonight:
Me
Bunny
Invig
Cali

And Invig and Cali are sitting out. Nice of you guys to play though.

I missed the first 2 minutes and have been a freaking card rack ever since. LOL that FT chooses THIS TOURNEY for me to cach in my Sklansky bucks.

Anyway, I've decided to give whatever I win to the Children's Tumor Foundation - so here's hoping I take it down.

Talking Poker 03-24-08 09:15 PM

I have almost triple the second place stack right now.

Ha!

OK, he just took someone out - only 2.5 times now.

Talking Poker 03-24-08 10:03 PM

And TP takes it down!

$65.25 going to the charity.

bunny 03-24-08 10:07 PM

Congratulations TP!

chane 03-24-08 10:16 PM

Congratulations man and thank you very much! You're a good man!

If you ever need anything, you know where to find me.

Invigilator 03-24-08 10:29 PM

Nice Job TP!

Sorry I missed it. I had to run into the city to look at a bicycle.

I picked up a Raleigh ten speed from the late 80's and the thing looks and runs like it just came out of the store.

Beats the hell out the full suspension mountain bike I used in my triathlon last year. It was a great deal at $70.

chane 04-01-08 05:32 PM

Alright guys, last one was fun, but it was a learning experience and I didn't have much time to prepare.

This one is going to be huge, we're going all out! I've got lots of people helping with this one. If anyone else wants to help spread the word, that would be great.

We're going to have some Full Tilt pros playing in this one. I will announce their names as they sign up.

We also just had a gentleman donate 18 autographed copies of his new poker book and another gentleman donate a few copies of Rounders DVDs. (These will be given as prizes.)

Here are the details of the tournament:

Tournament #44269053 20:00(8 PM)ET

Name/Title: Children's Tumor Foundation
Password: charity
Date: April 23
Time: 20:00(8 PM)ET
Buyin: $5 + $5, The fee goes to the charity, the buy in to the prize pool.
Game: NL Holdem

We would love to have you play with us! Please sign up as early as possible so that we can see how many will be participating! The more that sign up, the better the prizes will be!

Don't forget to tell a friend or 5!

If you have any questions about NF or CTF or about the game, post away.

Thanks for your help!

Pics of my nephews coming up. :)

chane 04-01-08 05:33 PM

chane 04-03-08 03:45 PM

Hey, I promised you guys I would tell you when pros signed up to play with us.

Phil Gordon, Karina Jett and Chris Klecz have just signed up to play and Andy Bloch has agreed to play as well.

I'm waiting to hear back from a bunch of other pros and I will continue to contact them until the day of the tourney.

For $10 you can play against some of the best players in the world AND raise money for the Children's Tumor Foundation. Can you think of a better way to spend 10 bucks? I can't.

Sign up now! The earlier the better!

Talking Poker 04-03-08 04:40 PM

As defending champ, I guess I have to play in this. ;)

See you there.

CalifNaughti 04-03-08 04:44 PM

Count me in too! If you don't mind I would like to post On other forums if thats ok? Please let me know. I am always willing to donate to a good cause. Thank you for inviting us. :)
Cali

Talking Poker 04-03-08 05:10 PM

I'll speak for chane and sya that yes, of course it is ok. He said to tell friends and I know he appreciated that you did last time, so post away!

Invigilator 04-03-08 10:15 PM

I am in (again), and will actually be there to play this time.

chane 04-04-08 12:40 PM

Yes, tell everyone!

We got 2 more pros!

The lovely Lynette Chan has registered and Paul Wolfe has agreed to play if he is around that day, but didn't want to register yet in case he wasn't.

Plus, the famous defending world champion Troll Pie is in!

We already have 22 players registered 19 days before the tournament!

With only 900 spots, I really think we're going to fill this one! I'm so excited! Make sure you get in early and make sure you mark in on your calendar!

It's going to be the best tournament EVER! :D

Talking Poker 04-04-08 12:51 PM

Tell Paul Wolfe to man up and spend the 10 bucks. If he can't play, so what? It's $10 and it's for a good cause.

In fact, I heard that's what Troll Pie did last time, he missed the first 20 minutes of the tourney, and STILL managed to take it down!

chane 04-04-08 12:57 PM

I actually did. He said "I don't know if I'll be around". I said, "Well, why don't you register anyway, your presence will help attract other players."

He was like, "That wouldn't be fair to sign up and then not play." He kind of has a point. If people register thinking he's going to play and then he doesn't, they may feel cheated. But, I'm sure it happens all the time.

But, don't worry, I will stay on him...and every other pro I come in contact with.

drewjax 04-04-08 01:56 PM

I'll gladly play (even though I think FTP is teh debil!), if someone can transfer with me.

TP (or whoever), can you transfer $10 to AnniesBigPapi on FTP, and I'll send $10 on Stars?

GL with all of this Chane, and +++++++++++rep for doing this for your nephews. They sure are cute and have great smiles!

All the best to them and your family.

Invigilator 04-04-08 10:43 PM

Shit! That's what I did and $10 bucks is more than 1% of my current online roll. (:Di like buying stuff:D)

Talking Poker 04-04-08 11:45 PM

I tried to do this, but it said your user ID doesn't exist after I cut and paste it.

Transfer however much you want to Rogue23 on Stars and give me the correct FT username.

drewjax 04-05-08 01:05 AM

Ya, I think Fildy tried to transfer with me awhile back and the same thing happened?

idk, lemme look.

I dont think its there if I sit at a table (or when I set it up), but it looks like there is a space....

Annies BigPapi

try that. If it doesnt work, can you look it up thru your affiliate or w/e. I signed up with rakeback thru you.

I'll send to you, and if it doesnt work you can just send back whenever.

ty

Talking Poker 04-05-08 01:19 AM

It worked. Needed the space.

drewjax 04-05-08 01:32 AM

Got it, registered.

I want Phil Gordon!

thanks TP

and +rep to you too for all you have done for this so far.

Its a ridiculous understatement, but anything that has to do with sick (or mistreated in any way) children is the most worthy of all causes.

chane 04-06-08 12:13 AM

PRO UPDATE!

We now have 10 pros playing! (If my math is correct.) :D

Phil Gordon, Lynette Chan, Karina Jett, Mike Swick, Adam Schoenfeld and Chris Klecz are already registered to play!

Other pros that have shown interest, but haven't registered yet:

Andy Bloch, Paul Wolfe, Kristy Gazes and Michael Craig. These pros will register the day of the tournament if they are around.

I'm waiting to hear back from a bunch of other pros as well and I will continue to contact them until the day of the tourney.

Invigilator 04-06-08 09:48 AM

Tru Dat!!!

Little Green Book was my starting point in poker education. I'd love to be able to play against the man I named my cats after.

melioris 04-06-08 11:57 AM

registered, although it is highly unlikely I will remember to play. FT should really make it open with no password.

Nikita 04-06-08 01:36 PM

I'm registered too, but I will be an hour late.

chane 04-07-08 02:49 AM

Awesome! Thanks guys!

chane 04-11-08 03:34 AM

Quick update:

13 Pros - 104 Total Players - 12 Days to Go - Only 900 Seats!

I'm so hoping it will max out at 900! That would be incredible! I'm optimistic!

Akverno 04-11-08 04:13 AM

I'm registered, looks like chip jett is in. I wonder, does this tournament qualify under Full Tilt's policy of a three hundred dollar bounty on the head of each pro as long as thirty players register?

chane 04-11-08 04:44 AM

No, not for private games.

chane 04-15-08 12:28 AM

Another quick update:

13 Pros - 145 Total Players - 8 Days to Go!

Anyone else in? Anyone think we'll hit 900 players?

Invigilator 04-15-08 05:59 PM

From a charity stand-point, I hope so.

From a poker stand-point, I like the smaller field.

chane 04-18-08 09:33 AM

Hey guys, this tournament is becoming HUGE! Everyone is talking about it - it's been talked about on Rounders Radio, Hold'em Radio and just about every poker forum online.

I believe it's going to be broadcast live on Hold'em Radio!

I just wanted to drop by and let you guys know that all of the pros are now bounties!

You will receive an autographed copy of Mitchell Cogerts brand new book "Play Razz Poker to Win" for taking out a pro! (Limit one book per player.)

All you have to do is PM me your name, address and hand history at my forum or at this forum or email me at chane [at] theroundersroom.com.

The top 10-15 finishers will also get Phil Gordon's DVD (if we can get a hold of him again), Rounders movie DVD or Tony Korfmans autographed book, " HoldemPoker, Tournaments, cash games and embarrassing social gas". (All prizes are subject to availability.)

We got 5 days left to go. Our goal is 900 players - we currently have 177 players. We're on our way to 900, but you can help us out by telling a friend!

This could end up being the best $10 tournament you've ever played in (or missed, if you don't get in NOW!) :)

hackers238 04-18-08 10:28 AM

I'm in, will sign up tonight (If there's still space! ;))

chane 04-22-08 07:04 PM

24 hours til game time! Players will be pouring in! Get in now!

I asked them to raise the limit from 900 to 3000 just in case, but they haven't gotten back to me yet. I hope everyone gets in who wants to play.

No pressure to repeat, Troll Pie. :D Don't let it get to you and take you off your game. lol Just kidding. Good luck!

MAYHEM45 04-22-08 07:14 PM

Registered. Hopefully im around in time to play.

Talking Poker 04-22-08 09:28 PM

I may actually have a live game that I'll be playing in tomorrow night. Maybe I'll take a laptop and play both. I mean, I do have a title to defend and all.

chane 04-23-08 01:25 PM

Yes, you do! It'd be an absolute shame if the defending champ didn't show up!

We got 16 pros (I think about 4 more will play) and 312 total players with about 6 hours to go! How exciting!

Invigilator 04-23-08 05:16 PM

I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Talking Poker 04-23-08 08:17 PM

I made my customary late appearance (I wasn't as late this time) and have already double up. KK > JJ - how crazy is that???

I will once again be donating 100% of my winnings from this event to the Children's Tumor Foundation.

GL everyone.

hackers238 04-23-08 08:33 PM

lol TP you are up there... 15th as of right now! gogogo!

I'm 109... :(

I'm such a donk at MTTs it's not even funny.
