WSOP 2008 - When are you going?
 

I know we're still a couple of months away, but if you know when you are going out for the WSOP this year, post your dates here.

I'm trying to plan around a couple of other things, so I'm still undecided.

June 29th to July 3rd. Playing event #52 $1500 NLHE

First weekend of WSOP Main Event coincides with the 4th of July, and there's no expo this year. So I'm not railing the ME this time, and instead going one weekend earlier.

Friend of mine is playing Event 49 $1500 NLHE.

I'm kind of sick of Vegas. I'll probably only play and be there for the main event.

I'm not sick of Vegas, but the only event I'm planning to play is the ME as well.

Sweet. I didn't know you were playing. Have you won a seat yet, or are you planning to do so, or are you going to buy in?

P.S. Sick of Vegas = :rolleyes:. What happened to the Drunk WSOP thing?

I wish i knew --- ill be there for SOME part of it (maybe even most of it) but Im still unsure...ill update when i know

I think I'll be doing another USA trip, probably from about mid-June to early July. No idea if/when I'll come to Vegas for the Series, I'll be traveling with my friend who doesn't play poker.

Ill be in vegas for a weekend in mid may, not sure if ill make it down during the series or not.

I'll alert the Utah border patrol...

I thinking I'll be out there for the first 3 weeks of June.

mid june Razz tourney and maybe another stud event.

I am disappointed that there is no expo this year. Oh well, maybe I'll at least get to meet Storm and Kurn.

I'm looking at 6/24 or 6/25 through 7/5 or so.

But I haven't booked anything yet, flights are annoying, and I'm actually considering not even going. I dunno. TBD. I guess I better figure it out one way or another in the next week or so.

I booked my flights tonight.

I'll be getting in to Vegas late on the 24th and staying until the morning of July 4th.

I'm not sure what Events I'll be playing in yet, but I will figure that out soon. I will probably play in one or two WSOP Events at the most, and maybe some of the Venetian Deep Stack Events or something similar, plus those juicy cash games. I will probanbly play in Event #52 with Invig, at the very least. :thumbsup:

I may see if I can get some backing and play a lot more if I do. I'd love to play in the $5k 6 max Event on 6/26, but I'd only do that with backing.

Maybe I'll pull a Fildy and sell some shares of my WSOP action.

I am also planning on being there june 24th - july 1st?? I havent completed my reservations yet tho... id also likely play in event 52 -- and would consider playing others w backing as well.

I'm heading out there anyway, so I think I may set aside 1-2k for live sattys and if I win another seat, I'll play it.

The M.E. is such a huge crapshoot and takes so long though... I dunno. I'd prefer to play in a few smaller field sized events... like maybe the $5k 6 max event.

Then again, it is in the freaking Main Event.

I'll figure this all out in the next couple of days.

I don't really know what your current life is like nor do I know your plans for the future, but I think you HAVE to play in the Main Event this year. It seems like you have very little constraints on your time at this moment. Maybe I see it wrong, or maybe you plan on keeping it that way, but again those are maybes. If the time commitment is feasible for you to make now (even if it not your preference) than you got to do it. Who knows what the future will hold, but it is possible you will find yourself in a situations where the time commitment is not possible.

You have stated that live donkaments are one of your favorites (why is beyond me all live poker=devil IMO), you have the opportunity to play in the Main Event for free, and it may be possible to take to the time to do it. So man up, change your airline tickets, sell me a large % of you (at a discount because you know I am right) and give it your best shot. The worst case is that the entire world finds out you are a donkey like Jamie Gold or Jerry Yang.

You make a good case for this, but there is one error in your logic, noted above.

It's not free. Because I have the money (or will) if I don't play, playing costs me $10,000. So, let's see, using a 2% buy in rule for donkaments, what should my roll be? :)

I'm sure you see my point. While the $10k lottery ticket is appealing, I think it's a better decision for me to spread that money around to a number of smaller buy in tourneys - including maybe a couple of shots at M.E. sattys where the prize is a must-play seat. It will lower my variance significantly. Yes, it lowers the chance of a 7 figure score too, but I'm ok with that.

I see your point, but i think by making yours you are missing mine. The opportunity to play in the Main Event (getting a seat, having the time, being able to give the time) is a rarity for men of our age. Maybe you will continue to get that opportunity in years to come, but that is not promised. I say this as someone will probably will never play in the WSOP. It is not just that I lack the desire, but I can not foresee a time in my life where I will be able to, and then want to, take the time from everything else to play in the main event. The money is the least of it.

you final table one event every wsop. might as well make it the main event.

Honestly, if I hadn't played it in 2006, I'd almost surely play this year.

If I ace that hole, I will be done with the round and will never swing a golf club again.

I can't think of a better way to end a golf career.

Call me when you get there. I'll probably be playing. I definitely want to have some TP get togethers, but I intend to play a lot of poker this trip. No golf for me.

My trip is tightly scheduled around event #52. I'd like to get together with people the night of the 29th.

Well i wasnt planning on playing alot of poker ;) lol Where ya staying? And will you be planning on finishing your stake before that? Cant wait to hang. Last year was a blast!!!!!

I'm arriving with a large crew on the 27th, staying two nights. Hopefully I'll be in for a get-together as well. Mark, I'll text you Fri night.

I'm staying at like 3 or 4 different places and actually don't have all the details worked out yet. heh. I suppose I should figure that out soon.

My stake will be done before then, fopr sure - this weekend.
