If we will want to kick this off at the beginning of the month, should we get a signup going [if so, here it is...] so noone gets left out?

We could also just include all "active" members in the first set of matches and then if people have to/ want to drop out we can shuffle those extras to play eachother?

...but, It would be REALLY cool to have everyone on the forum involved in this! Sounds from TP's email that this will be free, so no issues about deposits.....times (if this is how we are still doing it) will be determined by the two people in a match, so that should not be prohibitive to anyone....

At the very least it would be nice to know what site we're going to play on so those folks that don't already have an account there can get one (unless it's UB I fall into that category).

Depending what days these are held, I would count me in too. I'm sure TP wants part of the action, but if he's really busy and can't find the time to play these, we could set up something where the winner takes him on heads up for a prize or something.

I'm in, I'm not losing, and I will determine the brackets.

Right now, the first 8 people to say they are "in" in this thread wil be guaranteed to get in. If we can get to 16 (and we should be able to), that first 16 will be in. 32 would be awesome, but I don't see that happening. #17 will be a reserve if someone from the Top 16 disappears, and so on.

Once we have our list of participants, I will assign numbers to the entries and then randomly generate the brackets. I'll explain how I'm doing everything as we go, but I've got it all figured out.

So, let the signups begin! (Or continue, I suppose)

I'll get it all figured out when get home. Don't worry, you'll have plenty of time to set up your account (no deposits will be required) if you don't have one. The leading contenders ae Poker Host, JetSet, and Absolute. I need to contact each of them and see who can take care of us best, but those three seemed the most willing to take care of us...

BTW, it will be the responsibility of each "pair" to find a time that's good for them. We'll probably need to get each "round" done in a 3 or 4 day time frame, but I doubt that will be a problem for anyone.

And again, I'm planning on this being a $0 entry freeroll, with me kicking in some cash for the winner. Any and all side bets are fair game, of course. We'll have to draw up Vegas odds on everyone after the brackets are drawn up.

If I was in charge...

I would make sure the forum members who have been here for a while have top priority "getting in." It wouldn't be right if a regular had to be "reserve" because we get an influx of new members who want a chance at free money.

Agreed. It's first come, first served for the people with decent post counts. Hopefully we can fit everyone else in too, but if not, I'll probably decide by post count or something along those lines...

For example, I had a couple of beers with Me. 2Tone at the Golden Nuggett today - great guy, btw. He's in, regardless of when he adds his name to this list. I should have clarified earlier...

Of course, if the new people start posting a bit more, that will definitely help their cause :) Depending on the final number, we could always have a fw people get byes, if need be.... Those could be awarded randomly, or better yet, by total post count. Check me out making it to round 2 already!

I'm in but got some questions, Is this gonna be single elimination? also is it gonna be best out of three or something? Is this contest gonna be just like say me vs. aeq one match or something because that would kinda suck. If it is single elimination should be best out of three matches or something because anyone can get lucky once, doesn't mean they are better player.

I'm in but my days are pretty packed like many are gonna be kinda hard to get the schedules down.

Ok, here's how this is going to work:

If we get exactly 32 participants (we won't), yeah for us! If we have LESS than 32, some people will get byes into Round 2. If we have MORE than 32, some people will have to play in a preliminary round to see who moves on to Round 1.

I will determine how it all shakes out and who falls where. This will be mostly based on post count, but not entirely. Overall post quality (purely subjective, as seen by me) will also come into play. Not to name names, but yes, while kkirk has loads more posts than Kurn, for example, I don't think there is a single member of this forum who would disagree with me when I say Kurn has contributed more. So if it came down to those two (it won't, but hypothetically), kkirk would have to play in the preliminary round (or Kurn would get the bye, as the case may be).

I've just started the process of finding us a host for this tourney. I'm going to make sure the prize pool is at least $100, plus probably some other goodies. I'm hoping one of the poker sites will pony up some cash for our business, but if not, I will.

Right now, let's just keep this list going so we can have everything ready to go by August 1st.

Oh, one other thing.... I'll write up all the details later, but right now, I'm thinking we'll give each pair 3-4 days to play their match. If they can't come up with a time that's good for both of them, we'll have to deal with it. In most cases, whichever guy wasn't able to play (or disappeared completely, which I supect will happen) will forfeit. I guess we'll handle it on a case by case basis. Worst case scenario, we'll vote to see who moves on. By the time we get to the Round of 8, if not sooner, I doubt this will be a problem any more.

This is going to be WAY cool. There's still some big names missing from the list though. Come on, people - step up!

PS: Ive done these brackets for several years (college beer pong tournaments lol) so if u need any help with breaking down the extra matches/byes, lemme know Im a wiz by now :D

I guess I'll be the 32 seed and take down the giant in round 1 :D.
