Heads Up Battle Royale Part Deux!

I'd like to make this at least a monthly thing, but I don't feel like waiting until the end of March, so let's do it right away!

Talking Poker Forum Heads Up Battle Royale II
Wednesday, March 1, 2006, 9:30 PM

$10+1

Since I didn't end up having to pay the bounty I put on myself - what with me winning the whole thing and all ;) - I am going to place another bounty on my head this time. Here's how it works:

Be the person to eliminate me (Rogue23), and you will win:
$25 if you have 100+ posts*
$15 if you are a member of this forum but have less than 100 posts*
$5 if you are not a member of this forum

*Post count is being determined right NOW, as I am posting this. So there is no need to go on a crazy posting spree over the next 2 days. It will do you no good.

Here's hoping we can get at least 16 people registered for the tourney. We had 18 last time.

PShabi 02-27-06 05:37 PM

DUDE! It's confirmed! You have a great mind, TP! You see, I was thinking the same thing today!

I was about to make a thead just like this and make a tourney for Wed., March 1. I was going to make the first Wednesday of every month Heads Up Battle Royale Day!

This is weird, but Great idea!

kmb13592 02-27-06 05:40 PM

I couldn't play in the last one because my computer had a virus, but I'm in this one. Registered and ready to dominate. Just curious how many places got payed last tourney, or was it winner tak all?

Talking Poker 02-27-06 05:44 PM

I like it. The first day of every month it is!

I'll even sweeten the pot a it and let the winner have a custom title for the entire month. I know that's not a bonus for you 1000+ posters, but it's a nice touch for everyone else.

Talking Poker 02-27-06 05:48 PM

4 places got paid. We had 18 players, so 14 people got first round byes. Actually, a better way of looking at it is that 4 people had to play an extra round. Then we went from 16 to 8 to 4 to 2 to 1. And after winning 4 straight matches, yours truly was the grand champion. Not that there was ever any doubt.

What I am wondering is how who has to play that first buy in round is determined. I was hoping it would be the last people to register (which would encourage people to preregister), but I think it must be random. Well, as random as having 3 Canadians and the big shot bdawg play an extra round can be anyway.

Robbie Robb 02-27-06 08:13 PM

definitely wasn't last people to register as I was one of the first :)

I do, kinda think though, that Nikki & I having to battle WASN'T a coincidence. I'm wondering if they look to see if there are multiple entries from the same IP and punish them :)

That said, I'm in. As soon as I fire up PS to register.

**Also, not to hijack - just as a reminder - WWdN Robbie Robb Invitational TOMORROW night (TUESDAY) at 8:30pm EDT!

PShabi 02-27-06 08:21 PM

First Wednesday of every month.

Talking Poker 02-27-06 09:09 PM

Eh.... either way. April 1st is a Saturday, so yeah, moving it to the 5th would be a good idea.

Nikita 03-01-06 03:38 AM

Well, count me in this one now as well.

I didn't think I'd be able to make as I wanted to build up my bankroll a little more, but don't have to worry about that now, since I took down the MTT I posted about in the Railbird section. :D

Talking Poker 03-01-06 11:35 AM

That's right you did!

Just a little reminder to everyone that this is tonight.

PShabi 03-01-06 01:57 PM

I rarely, RARELY, miss a forum function. However, I must declare myself a game time decision.

Talking Poker 03-01-06 02:53 PM

It's ok to be afraid, pshabi. We won't think any less of you.

Robbie Robb 03-01-06 03:24 PM

Yeah, I did give him quite the spanking in the last one. :D

PShabi 03-01-06 06:18 PM

Whatever, bitch. I know how you think. Your EV goes WAY THE FUCK UP with me out of the way! So, try to soothe me into not registering, huh? I may register and sit out just to spite you!

PShabi 03-01-06 06:20 PM

If going all-in, getting called by a monster, dropping to your knees and praying like an alter boy, only to hit a miracle 4 outer on RiverStars is a "spanking" then you are THE SPANKER!!!!!!!!!!:D

sjay2k 03-01-06 08:05 PM

I'm in!

Robbie Robb 03-01-06 08:07 PM

85 minutes till the cards are in the air! Let's get some more people out for this one! Hurry Hurry HURRY!!!!!

Talking Poker 03-01-06 08:14 PM

Funny thing is, if you do that, you'll probably still outlast bdawg!!! :D

Only 5 registered so far. Weeeeeeeeak. Let's go, people. Don't be scared. Need I remind you about the bounty on me, which makes this +EV for everyone?

eejit101 03-01-06 08:31 PM

Im in. Now everyone is -EV. TP first round please, i think ive made more than 100 posts:D

Tony Cheval 03-01-06 08:47 PM

Hmm yes, and how many outs did you have when you busted me, again? :D

Gordogg 03-01-06 08:56 PM

Well shit, don't really have the roll for this now, but I'm in. Going to take out TP to guarantee myself some cash. ;) :D

Talking Poker 03-01-06 09:09 PM

20 minutes to go, 10 signed up.

Would love to get 6 more.

bdawg31 03-01-06 09:14 PM

bdawg is IN

i cant do any worse than the first one (in theory)

Talking Poker 03-01-06 09:17 PM

Hey, who let the dead money in?

13 and counting. Here's hoping for 3 more. If we get more than that, maybe we'll be treated to a Robbie Robb/N1k Round 1 matchup. hehe...

pokerfreak25 03-01-06 09:23 PM

hey i just registered should be great fun my name on ps is thebeerroom

Talking Poker 03-01-06 09:30 PM

Attention Zybomb, BlibbityBlabbity, pshabi, JD, mayhem, Aeq, etc: You suck.

Wooohoooo - I just got myself a first round bye! Ok, I forgive you guys. But you are still a bunch of lameos. :)

GTDawg 03-01-06 09:41 PM

so much for slow playing my trips on the flop

Only to watch my money go byebye to a boat on the river

Talking Poker 03-01-06 09:59 PM

For what it's worth, I think you played the river badly. You didn't need to go broke there. when he minimum REraised you, you had to know your trips were no good.... I wouldn't have HATED a call given the size of the pot, but min reraising AGAIN and then calling his all in after that??? Yuck.

GTDawg 03-01-06 10:04 PM

Yeah

As soon as I did it I wondered why I did it.

I just kinda spaced out and started pressing buttons

eejit101 03-01-06 10:33 PM

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Runner runner kings................

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

KK is now the "donkeys" favourite hand.

Talking Poker 03-01-06 10:35 PM

Yeah, silly me getting my money in with the best hand.

Here's my big "suckout" vs his 12 outs (minus my redraws, like so).

Meanwhile, you know I lose this matchup every time. Amazingly, my KTs held off his K6o a hand or two later. That truly was amazing.

Crippled and though I was able to double up a few times afterward, it ended badly when I was pot committed with two overs and a gut shot. I probably should have went all in preflop:

Robbie Robb 03-01-06 11:06 PM

Well, sorry I couldn't bring the pain to you guys. I was too busy hoarding the pain all to myself.

Talking Poker 03-01-06 11:17 PM

Bummer.... I could have beat you in the finals!

Talking Poker 03-01-06 11:18 PM

Congrats to kmb4 for taking it down and winning the bounty.

I made a big (incorrect) laydown on the very first hand (I'll post it in the HSIHPT section in a minute), and then I called his all in later on when I KNEW he had an overpair to my TP. Stupid Rogue...

Aequitas58 03-01-06 11:26 PM

Wednesday nights I'm in a pool league.

MAYHEM45 03-02-06 12:43 PM

Wednesday nights is 6 dollar pitcher night. I had a couple two tree of em last nite.

redbank09 03-02-06 12:46 PM

wow 6 dollars is a special, try 2 dollar pitcher night, now thats a special.

MAYHEM45 03-02-06 01:05 PM

6 dollars canadian. Thursdays is 5 dollars at a different bar. It's a wonder I'm still alive.

redbank09 03-02-06 01:12 PM

whats the exchange rate from canadian to US. i forgot you were from canada.

bunny 03-02-06 01:56 PM

$1.00 ca = .88 us

PShabi 03-02-06 02:37 PM

Forget that weak-ass shit. The bar is no longer there, but TA TOM's, on the beautiful red-brick campus of Purdue University used to have "Penny Beer Night."

Yep, $3 cover, 16 oz drafts for a penny each. You actually had to put a penny down on the bar to get the drink!

10 cent pitchers.

Oh yeah, and before someone starts to get wise. I've been out of college for less than 5 years. So, no, I didn't have to backpack 6 miles to the bar, barefoot, in a blizzard, with my dick in my hand.

Robbie Robb 03-02-06 05:03 PM

Dude, I hope you're happy. That just made me bust out laughing. And see, laughing hurts like hell right now cuz of my ear infection (which has now seemingly spread to my lower jaw - well, at least the pain has!)

MAYHEM45 03-02-06 05:51 PM

Fuck, ten cents. I could buy like 12 pitchers!

EDIT: on second thought, I think I would just see how close to a dollar I could spend that night.

Im guessing this was just a yearly thing? Oh wait I forgot, american beer is just piss anyway.

kmb13592 03-02-06 06:05 PM

This doesn't really have to do with anything in the thread, but I was just wondering if you had a job TP?

Talking Poker 03-02-06 06:08 PM

You're right... as if we weren't off topic enough. There's no way I'm going THAT far off topic here.
