TP Admin v. Aequitas58 - Part II
The match goes on.
Adjusted rules: Game: HE NLHE on Stars Money: $0 if TP wins, $50 if I win. Date / Time: TBD Also, to make it more interesting... whoever wins, has to buy the other a TP.com teeshirt. Let the shit-talking and side-bets take place. |
ok
And when is this taking place and on what casino I have got to see this!! |
Good stuff. Cant wait.
Aequitas, do you have acct. on Royal Vegas? saw this name there today attempting to play in that sorry ass freeroll. Is it you, did you play, and how did you do?? |
what site???
|
To me. I only have accounts on Party, Stars, and FullTilt.
Must have been an imposter! |
Read the original post. Date and time to be determined - and it's taking place on PokerStars.
|
awsome
if im not working ill be there if its during the weekend or early day im there cant wait. |
yeah id like to watch this... like 8ish on a weekday would be cool cuz thats the only time i have free time... wow why am i posting this, its ur match, do whatever
-jB |
Hey,
I think this match is very cool and would like to watch you guys battle it out :). I was hoping perhaps you guys could post the HHs of this HU match, in case some of us miss it? Thx, Gutzz |
I don't know about TP, but I'm not in favor of this idea. When you play heads up, and you can watch both players (especially knowing what they have) it says a lot about their game - what they do in certain situations, hands they tend to bluff w/, how they play monsters, etc.
I'd rather just leave it open to spectators. |
I can go either way with this. We have to at least post the HH from the FINAL hand (or any critical hand throughout the match where we both push in)...
Have you determined yet how we are going to play on Poker Stars? Do they have heads up (or private) NL play money tables? I don't play there very much, so I really don't know. And I have yet to play a single "Play Money" hand in my life, so this will be a first for me :) Anyone know about this? |
You guys could play a HU s/g, I don't believe they have HU playmoney tables (could be wrong).
Or, you could just go to a NL penny table, both start with like, say, 3 bucks and the winner wins. Only downside to this the rake will eat up the stacks if it's long. But it is only pennies... Or... you could each contact PS and ask them to create a special match for you. I have heard them do this for players who wanted to play a 25k HU match, why not for you guys? *grin* Cheers, Gutzz |
someone else suggesed, and i think it would work great to play on pokerroom. 1500 starting chip stacks are nice. do you both have accts. there? I am pretty sure TP does, and Aeq. doesnt but it could work if Stars wont work.
Also, if you cant setup private tournaments on stars, how would we set up a TP.com only tournament that has been kicked around here? Maybe we should think about pokerroom for that as well? whadayathink?? |
We have a decision to make.
I checked out Pokerstars. They do not have 1-on-1 play money tables, but they do have 1-on-1 penny NL tables. Of course, if we did play on the real money (penny tables) there would be a rake. (Although small.) I also looked into the 1-on-1 SnG tournaments on Stars. The cheapest limit is $5+.25. To me, this is a better option than the penny NL tables. I did not contact PStars support to create a private table. This is an option, but I doubt they would make a $5+.25 private table... maybe they would. If you wanna go the "private route" let me know. I looked at what PartyPoker can do for us, and it's not much. I can create a private table, very easily I might add, but they only offer limit hold em. Party doesn't have any kind of 1-on-1 action that I can find: play money or real money. So, I'll propose this, let me know if you like the idea. If you don't, reply here, send me a PM, or contact me on AIM: We log onto Stars and sit at a $5+$.25 1-on-1 SnG. The administrative fee of $.25 each is definitely reasonable, and it would be easy for the railbirds to watch the action. We would each start w/ 1500 chips, and the blinds increase every 10 minutes. Although this would be a tournament format where the blinds would increase, it would encourage action. (Not that I think that's a problem in this case! Re-raise!) So, let me know what you want to do. If you have another proposal, let's hear it, but I think this might work pretty easily. Sidenote: given Murphy's law, and judging from past experience that "shit happens" the SnG idea is good because if something comes up for either one of us, then it can easily be rescheduled. Who knows when internet connections go bad, something comes up, etc. Date / Time: Because of my crazy and hectic schedule, the best time for me would be this upcoming Thursday night. I don't know how good that is for you, so you'll have to let me know. I'm kind of addictied to the Apprentice, so I was thinking we shoot for a start time of say, 10:15 est time. Again, that's Thursday 12/9 @ 10:15pm ET. Pokerstars: $5+.25 SnG, 1500 chips each. Let me know if this is amicable to your schedule. |
PokerRoom
From what I hear, PokerRoom is probably the best bet. BUT, I don't have an account there. I plan on opening an account there soon, but I want to work up my bankroll a little more more so I can maximize the deposit bonus. Always need to take full advantage of that.
I'm sure TP will find this understandable. |
My schedule is really flexible... day, night, whatever. 10:15 next Thursday night is NOT good for me though, as that's the BIG NL cash game I play in, and I'd rather not miss that. Could we do it earlier? Like around 7 or so?
As for the buy-ins, are we just considering that added money (makes your EV better!) or are we factoring that into what we are playing for? Me - I vote that it's just added money. |
If you sign up through my links, then yes, I will ;)
One thing to consider though, PR offers reload bonuses regularly... so even if you don't get the max first time deposit money ($100), at least you'll have an account there and can get any reload bonuses that are offered between now and wheneven you were planning on making your first deposit. |
Actually, since we are "both" adding the buy-ins, it wouldn't positively or negatively effect my EV.
I have $2.99 on PStars right now. LOL. In the meantime, I will try to build this up to $5.25, and we just make the buy-in added money. If, though, I can't build it up, or I lose or whatever, we'll need to do a $5.25 transfer, and it'll just be a part of what we're playing for. If you win, you get your money back (minus $.25). If I win, I'd win $10 total, and then you'd only owe $40 more. |
Sorry - forgot to address your concern for Thursday night. 7pm EST time sounds fine to me. How long do you foresee the match going? 1/2 hr - probably less?
I have a feeling you're gonna be a douche bag - trying to put a move on me when I have the nuts, you lose everything, and just say that I got lucky. Hah. |
Sure it would. Let's look at an extreme example. Say we were each adding $1000. Then we'd be taking the $30 I owe you and playing for $1000 if I win or $1050 if you win. surely you agree that's a better EV for you than $0 or $50 (on your $30).
My local game for tonight was just cancelled. Any chance you want to get the show on the road and play tonight? If so, just name the time and I'll make it happen. Later would probably be better, as far as railbirds are concerned. Maybe a 10:00 or 11:00 start time? Surely you can get $2 into your account by then, one way or another. If not, I'll spot you. |
LOL... I would like it if it went on for a while, but I can't imagine it will even last a half hour... probably 10-15 minutes, max. Depends how crazy you play and how willing you are to throw all your chips into the middle. With low blinds, there's no reason to hurry, so I plan to just wait and then smack you around when I have the nuts. Ooops - I'm giving away my strategy!!!
|
Tonight doesn't seem like a good night. I haven't seen my girlfriend in a few days, and we're going out later on. If we don't, then maybe it'll happen. We both have AIM, so it would be easy to pop on, but to give the railbirds notice might pose a problem.
It's probably better to put it off. Besides, shouldn't you brush up on your NL heads up play? |
Yea right - don't give away too much, killer.
Hmmm... 56 suited? Raise. Shit, now I'm giving away MY strategy. |
Who - wait a minute. Wait just a damn minute!
Am I reading this right? Surely I must be misinterpreting something here. Are you saying... no, you can't be. It's just not possible. I mean, it can't be true. Has the whole world gone topsy turvy? YOU have a girlfriend??? |
this is the lamest flame war i have ever seen. can't you guys think of some good yo mama jokes?
|

Yes, I have a gf - you ass.
I'm saving up for this - but it is going to be REALLY expensive. |
That looks nice.
|
but your
but your like the best poker player in the world (self proclaimed) that should be like a week worth of earnings for you ?
|
LOL - grinding away at 1c-2c. I started w/ $2.99, got it up to $4.05. Big pre-flop raise w/ QQ. Call. 593 flop. Big bet, Call. J turn. I go all-in ... putting a good read on the guy w/ overcards. He calls... AQ... catches his ace on the river.
So, I'll need you to transfer me $5.25 prior to our matchup. |
This is like Ali/Frazier, McEnroe/Borg, or Phil Hellmuth/Sam Grizzle!! I dont know if I'll be able to pony up the $49.95 for the pay per view though. I'll have to catch it on HBO or ESPNclassic.
|
You can't make a deposit yourself? How you gonna pay me back when I win?
|
That has to be "THE" lamest thing I have ever heard.
I would be embarrassed to type that. :o |
What are you talking about? If you transfer me the money, and you win, then you'll win the money back. MINUS a quarter.
Hello, McFly!? |
LOL - I now right.
I can't deposit the money myself - I think the min deposit is 50... but all of my money is tied up on Party. |
Umm... yes, I'll win MY money back, but what about the $5 you were supposed to put up that I should have won? LOL... I think you should go arond Stars challenging people to play for $1000 heads up. Then tell them they need to transfer you the $1000 first, so you can play them. But fear not - if they beat you, they'll get THEIR $1000 back!!! How could anyone ever pass up on a great deal like that???
HELLO??? You're one of a kind, dude. |
My dad can beat up your dad.
|
YEA RIGHT.
I don't believe I ever said that... ...maybe I was under the influence of a substance. :) |
I can tell math wasn't one of your strong suits.
Ok - say I deposit $50, so I play you in this SnG. Hypothetically, if you win, then you'll win my $5, and that's not part of the deal, Turbo. |
TP, you better stop this arguing or your going to be playing for $100 instead of $50 when Lou hits his 1000th post still trying to work out these details. :D
|
I say dont play or pay. I have rarely seen someone so ungratful and picky of free money.
|
HAHAHA turbo... nice
|
Devil's advocate
But I thought the $50 from TP was added money so if you bought in for $5.25 each you would actually get $60 total, his $50 and the $10 in the pot.
|
He's either drunk, stupid, or maybe a little of both. I guess I need to spell this all out very clearly. Maybe if I type r e a l l y s l o w l y, genius boy will be able to follow along.
LOU: You suggested we play in a $5+.25 SNG. Fine by me (I'll play you in a $100 heads up tourney, if you like). I asked: You responded with this: Since you said we are ADDING the buy ins, I took that to mean that was additional money we would be playing for (even thought the rest of your statement was incorrect, as this does help your EV). So, I figured this is where we are at: $5+.25 buy in each = $10 in "prize pool." ON TOP OF $0 transferred to me if I win or $50 transferred to you if you win. Are you still with me, math major? Everything look ok? But now you are asking me to front the entire additional $10 prize pool. That's fine, since you can't seem to scrape up 5 bucks, but all I asked was how am I supposed to get the additional $5 you'll owe me when I win. For some reason you seem to think I wouldn't be entitled that that $5 of yours, and that by me winning MY OWN MONEY BACK, I will have somehow received your $5. Um.......... yeah. Ahhh... now I see this quote from you: Reading THAT tells me you don't want the $5 to be "on top of" the other money (which was helping your EV, remember), even though you had earlier said we'd both be adding money. I guess you need to make up your mind. So, if THAT is the case (treating the buys ins as part of the original deal), that brings us to this: $5+.25 buy in each (paid by me) = $10 in "prize pool." ON TOP OF $0 transferred to me if I win or $40 transferred to you if you win. Maybe instead of throwing around insults, you could have tried to clearly explain how you wanted to handle this... Anyway, this leads me to this question: Will Stars allow a $5.25 transfer? Isn't the minimum $10? Do you seriously not have enough mopney in the entire world to come up with $50 to fund your Stars account? Can't you take some of that money you have "tied up in Poker Room" and move it to Stars? You're freaking killing me here! |
Since the $5.25 seems to be such an issue, why not go back to the play money heads up match. Bugsy's club/Pokerpages (free part) has a good tourney structure and if Lou doesn't have that site TP has a link to it so would even be helping him out a little more there. Then if Lou wins transfer whatever amount you decide on through whateveer account you want.
This is funny but I would have to compare it to Dennis Miller doing a play-by-play of a root canal. Play some poker already!! :D |
Tell me about it!
|
If this is true... then $5.25 is way more than your bankroll can support.
I wonder if If I were to mouth off to Phil Ivey about how bad I would whoop him in a game "IF" I had the entry, people would start to believe it. The moderator votes that if there is one more post about this challenge by anyone not fully willing to fund their own entry then all previous postings by said person be checked to see if they are worthy for the 10cents per post eligibility. Anyone care to second that? |
I'm probably in the vast minority here and if you don't agree with me don't bother telling me how stupid I am, we just disagree. This isn't some big corporation giving something away, I think we all understood coming in that it was one guy trying to start up a forum and shelling out cash out of his pocket and maybe, just maybe we should all have a bit of understanding. The other side says "hey he promised me xxx amount of money and now he ows it to me", well I get it, but let's look at the big picture here. Almost all of us came from RGP and this is a giant step up the food chain from that hell hole, YOU WERE POSTING ANYWAY and now are gonna get a few bucks in the deal. If your plan was to post here, take his $25 and turn it into a fortune, well that wasn't gonna happen, face it. This was for fun and money makes it fun.
If this were my decision I would post a set of rules I was comfortable with as far as the heads up matches go and everyone would play by the same set of rules, with the possible exception that the buy-in (that each side put up their own) could be negotiated. If your on the other side, well your right too, TP did promise the money for the posts and if you followed the rules then yes he owes you, I mean your word is your word, but let just take a step back and look at the big picture and exactly what we are dealing with here, if you came here just to run up a bunch of posts and worry about $25 of $30 or $50, well, hhmmmm...... I am not playing on a gigantic bankroll here either where I can just say $50 is chump change, but if the deal was I had to go back to RGP after getting the money then TP could keep it and I'd stay here. |
I don't think you're in the minority at all, Penguinfan. Everything you said makes sense (same goes for ChipFish).
And in case I ever was unclear, I never even once suggested that I wouldn't pay Aeq what I "owe" him. I only said that if he wanted to play me heads up, sure, I'd be all for it, but he can only "double" up to $50, and not $60. That's it. Then it got blown into this huge thing.... Had I realized ahead of time that Aeq's bankroll coun't support a $5.25 buy-in, things would have taken a far different direction. |
I agree with you penguin- people shouldn't be complaining, but whatever- I just want to see this heads up match!
|
Has there been a conclusion to this?? Is it 12/9 on PS @7pm ET? I dont have a stars acct. and need to figure something out to see this. we need a catch phrase for this also, rumble at the table or something more clever than that. suggestions??
