TPF League II - $125 Added!!!
This is the official summary thread for the TPF League II. Here you will find the official rules, the signup list, and eventually the Results and Overall Standings. I will keep this updated with the current rules if there are any changes.
____________________________ RULES: 1) League consists of 20 events - all Private tourneys. The password for every tourney (unless stated otherwise) is: talkingpoker 2) Each event has a $10+$1 buy in and payouts based on the standard Poker Stars MTT payout schedule. 3) Each player also pays a League entry fee of $10 (payable to TalkingPoker via Poker Stars transfer prior to the first event the player plays in (not necessarily Event #1)). 4) The winner of each league event is awarded points based on their place in the event (see points distribution list below). 5) Overall point leaders at the end on the 20 league events will be awarded portions of the prize pool as described below. 6) TP is adding $100 to the League Prize Pool!!! And the winner also gets some TP.com loot, including a TP.com hat if they don't already have one. . 7) pshabi is adding the $25 he won from to the League Prize Pool too!!! 8) Of the $125 added, $25 will go directly into the prize pool for the top 4 league finishers. The remaining $100 will be set aside for a Tournament of Champions for the Top 9* finishers in the league. This will be a $100 freeroll (an $11 value - more than the league entry fee!) at Stars held on July 12, 2006 at 9:30 PM ET. ____________________________ LEAGUE PAYOUTS ($245 Prize Pool + $100 T.O.C.): Based on overall points total from each's players best 10 finishes: 1st (40%): $98.00 2nd (30%): $73.50 3rd (20%): $49.00 4th (10%): $24.50 PLUS the $100 Tournament of Champions Freeroll for the Top 9* finishers! *If necessary, ties for the 9th spot of the T.O.C. will be broken as follows: 1) Highest Average Score for events scored in (person to get to total with least scores) 2) Highest Individual Score (if still tied) 3) 2nd Highest Individual Score (if still tied) 4) Next Highest Individual Score (if still tied) and so on... Note: There will be no tie-breakers for the Top 4 league payouts. For example, if the players in 3rd and 4th place have the same total score, the prize money for the two spots will be added up and split evenly between them. If two people tie for 4th, they will split the 4th place money. ____________________________ POINTS DISTRIBUTION FOR INDIVIDUAL EVENTS3-5 players 1st - 75% 2nd - 25% 6-9 Players 1st - 50% 2nd - 30% 3rd - 20% 10-12 Players 1st - 50% 2nd - 25% 3rd - 15% 4th - 10% 13-15 Players 1st - 45% 2nd - 25% 3rd - 15% 4th - 10% 5th - 5% 16-18 Players 1st - 40% 2nd - 25% 3rd - 15% 4th - 10% 5th - 6% 6th - 4% 19+ Players 1st - 35% 2nd - 25% 3rd - 15% 4th - 10% 5th - 6% 6th - 4% 7th - 3% 8th - 2% ____________________________ SCHEDULE: Event #1 - Tuesday, 5/2/06 Event #2 - Saturday, 5/6/06 Event #3 - Wednesday, 5/10/06 Event #4 - Sunday, 5/14/06 Event #5 - Thursday, 5/18/06 Event #6 - Sunday, 5/21/06 Event #7 - Wednesday, 5/24/06 Event #8 - Saturday, 5/27/06 Event #9 - Tuesday, 5/30/06 Event #10 - Sunday, 6/4/06 Event #11 - Wednesday, 6/7/06 Event #12 - Saturday, 6/10/06 Event #13 - Thursday, 6/15/06 Event #14 - Sunday, 6/18/06 Event #15 - Wednesday, 6/21/06 Event #16 - Saturday, 6/24/06 Event #17 - Tuesday, 6/27/06 Event #18 - Sunday, 7/2/06 Event #19 - Wednesday, 7/5/06 Event #20 - Sunday, 7/9/06 Event #21* - Wednesday, 7/12/06*Event #21 is the Tournament of Champions - A $100 freeroll for the top 9 league finishers. Only your top 10 point scores will count. If someone enters that is not a member of the league they WILL generate points (their play will add 10 points up for grabs in that event) but at the end they will NOT recieve points BUT WILL block points for that place. For example, if a non-league player wins an event there will be no 1st place points awarded. This is what we did last time and it worked ok. In other words, even if you aren't in the league, you are more than welcome to play in one or more of the tourneys with everyone. You simply won't be eligible for the prize money at the end of the League. |
I just made some edits, and I'm about to make a bunch more... including some added money to the league prize pool!
Thanks for taking care of this, Blibbity! |
Yes, thanks to BB once again. And thanks to TP for boosting the prize pool. Tasty!
I just transferred, so count me in. Hey TP, $20 says I place higher than you in this league. |
$25 says you don't!
|
$25 it is.
|
I've also tweaked the points distribution to be more uniform. Unless anyone has any strong objections, I think this will be an improvement over last time.
|
Thanks, Blib. And very cool thing with the money add TP.
Oh and by the way, since I didn't play in the last league, I have decided that I'm going to kick all your asses and win this one! |
If i cant make the first games, can i pay the $10 after the start of the season, and play the last 10 or something?
|
Did you even read the first post in this thread?
Short answer: Of course. |
I just sent in my $10 - i am in. I don't even know if i will be able to make 10 games - but i am crazy like that.
|
Thanks to pshabi, we now have $125 in ADDED money in the League Prizepool. Huge +EV here, people.
If any of you bloggers want to spread the word, I'm ok with it. In a way, I'd like to keep this mostly familiar faces, but I'd also like for us to have more players every week, and I've always had positive experiences with the blogger crowd (WWdN, etc). |
Paid
|
do we have a TP HU thingymajig to look forward too?
|
Well, it's supposed to be the first Wednesday of each month but since league event #1 takes place tomorrow night it may need to be rescheduled. TP? Shabi? Input???
|
Good point. I think I'll set the HU for tomorrow, as I'll be in San Francisco on Thursday. Stay tuned.
|
What???? No!!! Tomorrow is the first league event!!!!
|
What, you can't multitable?
|
What!!! im broke currently!
dammit man, reschedule it for after thursday, an a non league day, to give us three things to do in a week:thumbsup: |
Only Sudoku. :D
|
Oh, then what's the problem? We'll play the HU Wednesday night, as scheduled. I thought you guys were saying there was already a conflict.
I suppose I should set up all these tourneyts tonight. Takes so freaking long! |
No problem. I just wasn't sure that people would want to do Forum stuff back-to-back nights. I'll be there for both. Even though Lost is a new episode. Thank the gods for PVRs.
|
Watch out guys
I decided I could reach in my cheap-ass pockets and play with you guys.
I just signed up just now TP. My Stars handle is mcash2. I figure where better to learn tourny play than with you guys. $100 among fiends(oops, I mean friends,) shouldn't *sniff* hurt too *sniff* much. |
I do. Almost daily. :D
|
I'm setting up the first 10 tourneys now. Someone remind me to set up the remaining 10 in a couple of weeks.
The password for each tourney is talkingpoker and I am advertising the added $$. Maybe that will get a little attention and we'll end up with some new members. Remember, "crashers" to these events aren't necessarily a bad thing, as only the people who have paid their League Entry fee will be eligible to receive points and any money from the League Prizepool. And they way we have this set up, with only your Top 10 (max) scores counting, people can join the league very late and still have a decent shot at the prize money. Ok punks - Event #1 is tomorrow night. Let's get registering, shall we? |
Reminder:
Starts TONIGHT! |
ahh crap, gl people
|
have a 5% chance of making this.
depends if my mate in cardiff is drunk enough, hes in Uni, nuff said:D |
Quick last minute reminder:
Everyone is welcome to play tonight, but if you want your results to count towards the LEAGUE prize pool (with the added $$), you need to transfer $10 to TalkingPoker BEFORE we begin tonight. Also, please post in this thread once you do. I see a couple of people signed up for tonight's tourney who haven't paid their league dues yet. That's fine, but I want to make sure they understand that in order for them to keep any points they might earn tonight, they need to pay up first. Ok, scratch all that. Just dot notification for 2 transfers. So.... who is RaiseOCthulu? Looks like a new member... |
i dunno, he signed up about 2 hours pre league game
|
Yup, new member. Mathbabe sent me.
Though if you blinked during the tournament you would have missed me. :) RoC |
I just added all 20 Events to the . You have the ability to request reminder emails for each event, so no excuses for forgetting any!
|
Hmm. I kinda have an idea what collusion is... and, oddly enough, it looks like this:
PokerStars Game #4816683578: Tournament #24047715, $10+$1 Hold'em No Limit - Level VI (100/200) - 2006/05/02 - 22:57:47 (ET) Table '24047715 1' 9-max Seat #9 is the button Seat 2: Robbie Robb (7150 in chips) // husband Seat 4: N1kita (1595 in chips) // wife Seat 5: Boobie Lover (2315 in chips) Seat 8: EsqWire (4155 in chips) Seat 9: studiopet (5785 in chips) Robbie Robb: posts small blind 100 N1kita: posts big blind 200 *** HOLE CARDS *** Dealt to EsqWire [Jc 8s] Boobie Lover: folds Robbie Robb said, "gg jd" EsqWire: folds studiopet: folds Robbie Robb: raises 600 to 800 EsqWire said, "fold = collusion" N1kita: raises 795 to 1595 and is all-in Robbie Robb: folds EsqWire said, "WHAT" N1kita collected 1600 from pot EsqWire said, "LOL!" Wow.... that does look pretty bad. But I don't believe it. I'll chalk it up to a terrible play by RR.
What did you have they Robbie? And how in the wolrd could you fold ANYTHING for those post odds??? |
hmm, it does smell of collusion to me......
I mean come on rob, about 3-1 on the call, 800 to win 3200? id call with 2 3 off suit. 3 - 1. no possible hand can have u beat by that much. well it can, but not by a lot |
Fat lot of good it did me. Freakin' river. Boooo on you taking me out Aeq. ;)
Oh and if any wants to see, I had a legitimate hand. The HH is below. PokerStars Game #4816683578: Tournament #24047715, $10+$1 Hold'em No Limit - Level VI (100/200) - 2006/05/02 - 22:57:47 (ET) Table '24047715 1' 9-max Seat #9 is the button Seat 2: Robbie Robb (7150 in chips) Seat 4: N1kita (1595 in chips) Seat 5: Boobie Lover (2315 in chips) Seat 8: EsqWire (4155 in chips) Seat 9: studiopet (5785 in chips) Robbie Robb: posts small blind 100 N1kita: posts big blind 200 *** HOLE CARDS *** Dealt to N1kita [9h 9s] Boobie Lover: folds Robbie Robb said, "gg jd" EsqWire: folds studiopet: folds Robbie Robb: raises 600 to 800 EsqWire said, "fold = collusion" N1kita: raises 795 to 1595 and is all-in Robbie Robb: folds EsqWire said, "WHAT" N1kita collected 1600 from pot EsqWire said, "LOL!" and i can do this.... Robbie Robb: posts small blind 100 N1kita: posts big blind 200 *** HOLE CARDS *** Dealt to N1kita [7h 2s] Boobie Lover: folds Robbie Robb said, "gg jd" lol, j/k ul though with AEQ |
Show me the money.
Lucky tournament for me. |
Okay, here's the UNEDITED HH from my end. I was trying to steal her blinds and she came over the top on my raise...sigh. As I said in the chat, TP has seen Nikki & I play live and hopefully understands exactly how competitive we are. Of course, it could always be argued that the game in Toronto was just a ruse to setup this one hand here in the league. :D
PokerStars Game #4816683578: Tournament #24047715, Hold'em No Limit - Level VI (100/200) - 2006/05/02 - 22:57:47 (ET) |
Well, for 3:1, that's a tough fold to make. Unless she has 88 or 55, you're not in THAT bad of shape, even to an overpair.
I totally believe you, but surely you can see how bad that looks. |
True, but it probably would have also looked bad if I called her and turned over 85. I think either way I was looking bad here. I didn't even THINK about how much I already had in the pot and the pot odds I had. It was a simple attempt at a steal and when she raised I went "fuck!" and clicked fold without really thinking about it.
|
Well, I know for the most part that you guys are joking, but I do want to make sure. Rob and I are definitely competeing against each other and we both want to win. Of course, we both agree that the best possible out come is for us to place 1st and 2nd (I will argue that I should get first and he will argue that he should ;) ).
Anyway, if anyone has any issues with us playing together please let us know. We don't want there to be talk of collusion because it just isn't there. But, there may be someone out there really isn't joking, and if there is and it's going to cause problems, I'm perfectly willing to not play in the league. I really enjoy playing poker with everyone here, but I don't want any hard feelings to come of it. I'm probably being too girly sensitive or maybe just paranoid, but I have to make sure. |
n1kita = girly sensitive
eejit = feminine issues i dont care if u collude! im not playing yet:thumbsup: |
Misc:
1. Rob, it's not a weak attempt at a steal. A steal is raising with nothing, representing something, and hoping to take the pot or blinds down. Trust me you don't need cards to "legitimately steal" because if you had cards, then it'd be a value bet. 2. Even if you make the raise with 85 and you're popped, you can't let it go here. Your cards are likely live, it's not much more to call, you can knock her out and get closer to 2nd place. :) 3. I'm not accusing. Honestly, I don't think you two were colluding but the situation is just... there. :) Come to think about it: even if you two were colluding, I don't think the Robbie / N1kita tandem really scares anyone. gg. |
And not only that, but it would have been just as easy for you and I (or any other two people) to collude last night on AIM or the phone, etc. We're playing in a league where everyone knows each other (to some level), so we can only trust each other to not collude. IMO, there's more pride on the line here than anything else, so I don't think it's going to be a problem.
OH, and Robb is such a freaking luckbox, he doesn't need to collude. |
Thanks and valid point TP. Like I said, I just wanted to make sure.
|
I thought we agreed we'd keep our deal PRIVATE?!?!
|
Yea
It will take a team working together to take me out... OH, what no it didn't. Scratch that last comment from the record.
I trust you all - that's how I roll. Collude - that's a funny word... hee, hee. Son-of-a. |
Tourney tonight. Let's get some more people signed up. We don't want Rob getting anymore points. :)
|
gl guys, my vote for tonight is on JD.
|
Where is everyone? Only 4 people registered?
