Hellmuth Going for #10???

As much as I like ribbing this guy, I have to admit it would be cool for him to get his 10th bracelet.

It would probably be cooler to see him get to heads up and lose it on some sort of sick beat, but either way, it should make for good tv.

They are down to 11 players now, and he's currently second in chips:

You'll notice that our girl Isabelle Mercier is currently 5th (she just took someone out) - I would LOVE to see her make the tv table.

Marcel Luske is still in, and Vinnie Vinh is the chip leader.

Pics of Isabelle (also attached to this post) and lots of comments on her play can be found at the , specifically (since the main page changes), right here:

Talking Poker 07-06-06 01:58 AM

They are down to 10 players now, on the official Final Table bubble.

I'm nervous for Isabelle. She's currently in 8th place with 188k in chips. The short stack has 128.

The blinds are 6k/12k + 2k ante.

Talking Poker 07-06-06 01:59 AM

No way.... I just read this on the Stars Blog:

If ESPN isn't taping this.... oh man, what idiots.

Talking Poker 07-06-06 02:02 AM

There is some nice money on the line here too:

1 - $818,546
2 - $423,893
3 - $233,872
4 - $204,638
5 - $175,404
6 - $146,170
7 - $116,936
8 - $87,702
9 - $58,468

Gooooooooooooooooo Isabelle!

Talking Poker 07-06-06 03:03 AM

The final table is set, and Isabelle is still alive.

Go get 'em, girl!

I dedicate this post to my friend, Robbie Robb.

Robbie Robb 07-06-06 07:40 AM

Many thanks my friend! Gotta stick with my fellow Canucks.

For the others that have gotten this far in the thread (and not stuck droolling on the shot where you can see her tummy like I was for a minute or two), let it be known that our girl is in 4th place going into the final table. I believe Hellmuth is in 2nd.

EDIT (to add): I'm trying to figure out what URL she's pimpin' on her sleeve of the jean jacket.

Talking Poker 07-06-06 01:34 PM

Damn is she ever sexy......

TP, your one lucky SOB to have met her!

Talking Poker 07-06-06 06:24 PM

Play is underway. Marcel Luske doubled up thrhough Vinnie Vinh (AK vs AJ) and is now the chipleader. Isabelle is in 5th.

Live Updates here:

Talking Poker 07-06-06 08:37 PM

And then there were 5.

Isa is still alive with 20+ BBs, guaranteed $175k.

Would love to see her get HU with Phil or Marcel - currently 1st and second in chips.

Talking Poker 07-06-06 08:43 PM

Good news! I guess with this lineup, they decided to get off their asses and roll some tape (like they did with Johnny Chan and Phil Laak last year):

Brad is doing a great job with the .

omahilo 07-06-06 08:52 PM

I hope ESPN is filming this...

Go Phil... he needs to win this.

Talking Poker 07-06-06 08:58 PM

I love this:

:D :D :D

Dodoubled 07-06-06 09:00 PM

I swear to God I was just about to copy and paste that quote in here, but you beat me to it ...

Talking Poker 07-06-06 09:04 PM

Ouch. Not a good sign if he's making THIS call - with KING HIGH!

I'd really like to see how that developed. Must have been a busted straight draw or something. To muck without even seeing your opponents cards - not good.

-----
Hellmuth Takes a Monster Pot Off of Mercier
After the river card is dealt, Isabelle Mercier bets $100,000 and Phil Hellmuth makes the call. Mercier immediately mucks her hand and Hellmuth turns over king high to rake a huge pot. Mercier is down to around $140,000 chips.

Robbie Robb 07-06-06 09:05 PM

From Brad Otis' Blog @ Pokerstars:

Oh Oh! Say it ain't so....
Yikes! Mine too! (granted, this portion of the quote is taken entirely out of context.)

Robbie Robb 07-06-06 09:07 PM

NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She's out in 5th. No details yet.

omahilo 07-06-06 09:07 PM

when Phil is on its like as if your playing with your cards face up.

Talking Poker 07-06-06 09:09 PM

It certainly can be. As not-as-good-as-he-thinks-he-is (the BEST) as Phil is, Phil is one hell of a tourney Hold'Em player.

jaeh00d 07-06-06 09:19 PM

i really am rooting for phil here...where is it you guys are seeing these live updates...

jaeh00d 07-06-06 09:25 PM

Robbie Robb 07-06-06 09:52 PM

Actually, you may be right. I just went and checked the top 6 when you said "went from 1st to out in 8th" and didn't see his name there.

jaeh00d 07-06-06 09:58 PM

well yea he placed 8th... if you go to the page before and look at one of tp's earlier chip break downs he's listed there in 1st

Talking Poker 07-06-06 11:23 PM

Luske is out. Three left and Phil is still chip leader.

Talking Poker 07-06-06 11:27 PM

Correction: Phil is heads up now.

Phil has 1.55 million chips.
Jeff Cabanillas has 1.2 million.

Phil has got it, he wants it sooo bad, and he is on, there is no point in hiding ur cards.....phil knows exactly what u got

Talking Poker 07-07-06 12:48 AM

I don't know... this guy seems to have had Phil's number for the entire Final Table.

But my money is still on him. Here comes #10.

jaeh00d 07-07-06 12:57 AM

11:00pm... Hellmuth and Cabanillas pulled even. The unknown kid who is playing in his first tournament was jawing back at Hellmuth after Hellmuth attempted to tilt him with his verbal abuse. Here's a sample of the exchange:

Hellmuth: "I can't believe you called with K-J."
Cabanillas: "I did and I also called with a pair of fives and they held up."

11:15pm... Players went on a break and Hellmuth is on the verge of mega-tilt unless he calms himself down and does some yoga in the hallway. Hellmuth admitted, "This kid is good. he's good." He's down 1.85M to 1.25M.

Talking Poker 07-07-06 02:48 AM

He's really got a great blog, huh? Excellent coverage.

jaeh00d 07-07-06 02:52 AM

wow.... hellmuth down to 500k in chips... this guy jeff now has over 2.5mill in chips... Phil needs to push here soon... good luck phil

jaeh00d 07-07-06 03:07 AM

phil doubled up by catching a nut flush on the river.... still only with 750k... rooting for phil. still plenty of chips to play with the big blind is only at 50k..

Robbie Robb 07-07-06 08:21 AM

Didn't actually check to see what time this ended, but end it did - with Phil taking home.....second place.

No bracelet for Phil. He raised all in on a flop of 6-4-3 and is called. Jeff turns over 5-3, Phil 5-4. Phil turns his trips but the jack on the river gives Jeff the diamond flush.

I'd be willing to bet that, even with it being Phil, there wasn't an explosion. I'd more suspect it would be like letting air out of an air mattress - just a slow, deliberate deflation.

Talking Poker 07-07-06 11:37 AM

That my guess too.... it sounds like he maybe had a bit of bad luck on a couple of hands, but nothing TOO major. Overall, I think he was outplayed.

That kid just went from being a complete nobody to someone everyone will have their eye for the rest of the series and beyond. Winning any bracelet is a big deal, but this was a life changing tourney for him, for sure.

Reel Deal 07-07-06 01:47 PM

I loved the quote in that blog... "Tonight history or a hissyfit will be made."

Priceless.

eejit101 07-07-06 04:15 PM

hes still THE best Tourney player in the world. Plus i just love watching him, its really fun to watch. People like that do mroe for poker for people who know the game than Hachem and other big winners.

EDIT - this post makes no sense

X-Longshot-X 07-07-06 04:21 PM

Quite possibly the first thing u have ever said that DOES make since..
