PLEASE, whatever you do, don't use that ridiculous QB only scoring system Aeq set up last year.

I can post a good one for you if you want... does Yahoo have a default one though?

This is a league I've been in for years. We've tweaked the scoring system year after year, and IMO, it's really good:


It's lower scoring than the typical fantasy league, but the best teams win.

The thing I see with that is yahoo doesn't subtract for missed field goals, which means our league would be kicker friendly, and in my mind thats stupid. Lower the kicker points and stuff for that. I don't mind the rush/rec TDs being one more than the passing TDs, but we should adjust Yahoo's defaults first I think:

My first suggestion is to add actual individual defensive players in addition to a team defense.
And I also liked having quarterback's a completion percentage matter, like 1/2 point for a completed pass and 1/2 point for incomplete pass.

Ladies and Gentlemen, we have our league! I decided to go ahead and set it up and this way we get a decent draft time and lots of time to modify things. Hopefully we can get a whole bunch of people in this, or maybe you guys want to limit it, another thing we can change. Anyhoo, if you want to sign up now or in a month, feel free.

I hate the scoring system :), and as it stands, there's no way I coul make that draft time, since that's when my REAL FFL draft is.

Apparently it all sucks, but try to break the problem areas down a bit so I can try and modify, Mr. Constructive. And what day is best for everyone? The times go quick in the next couple of weeks so let me know. I want to point out though, that at least this system doesn't contribute to Peyton's team winning, like last years. I think this one is pretty balanced.

It's way too high for defense, for starters. I hate when defensive scoring (more of a crapshoot than anything else) decides fantasy football games.

I would recommend scheduling it for a Wedensday night, around 9:30 - those are our best turnouts for tourneys, so it stands to reason they would be for this as well. During the day on weekend is a bad idea. How about the Wednesday after you have it now? 9/6? That's right before the season starts, so any last minute injuries will be known too.

As I agree with, and now remember, that defensive scoring is fickle at times I went ahead and lowered their point values a good bit. However, I do not think it is so fickle as to delete individual defensive players all together. And the draft time has been changed to September 6th, 9:30 EST :thumbsup: .

Geoff, since you were posting the point totals, I figured you may have an opinion on my system. I essentially doubled the points to allow for a little more tweaking room. Let me know if you guys have suggestions!!

To be honest, I am probably not the best person for a football pool. However, I will have a look. The point totals I used were from the other pool I have and my draft is next week.

As for the baseball pool, I'm setting that shit up next year. I have the best pitching and unfortunately there are 9 hitting categories as opposed to just 8 pitching categories.

Hmm, taking a quick peak, I think we might want to add 1 point per reception. Receivers look mighty weak otherwise. 1 point isn't much, but it won't negatively affect receivers as much.

Of course, the problem is, this will also strengthen backs that much more.

Your hitting is still terrible. You would need 12 or more pitching categories to help you out.

Most of that is due to the cumulative stats, such as ER and BB. I am 1st in ERA and WHIP, but somehow I am in 6th in BB and 5th in ER. I've noticed nobody plugs in their pitching.

I certainly do, but damn I was slow the first 2 or 3 weeks, and I just can't catch up.

Or we could boot you anyway, since you probably won't take it even remotely seriously. If memory serves, you played along last year for a few weeks (5 or 6?) and then completely disappeared, leaving your team on auto-pilot. It's not really that tough to beat a team that's made up of injured players and guys on bye weeks, you know. Kinda wrecks the league for everyone else.
