Tiger Wins!!!
Yay!!!!
|
He's been on an impressive run lately, I'll give you that.........
I liked his shot that went on the clubhouse roof the other day. *I* can hit a shot like that! |
"Tiger wins"
And in related news the Sun is going to rise in the East tomorrow. |
I'm still wondering where some of those balls we hit at Amanda's wedding went ...
|
Tiger is the best... nuff said.
He plays like 12-15 tourneys a year, wins aleast 5 of them (2 of those being majors). Its insane how much better he is than the rest of the tour. |

hehe... I forgot all about that. I think I still have photos from that somewhere...
Yup. I wonder how many people who left their cameras unattended that night were surprised to find drunken self portraits of the two of us when they reviewed their photos later on. Good times, good times... |
Look at those follow-throughs! The contact shot was great. Pulitzer-quality, if you ask me.
|
The guy in the blue shirt and tie has a NASTY reverse pivot going in that swing.
|
And a sweet death grip.
|
What the hell are you talking about? I have a great swing. :)
The pics don't do it justice. You'd need to see video, which I don't have. Reverse pivot. Death grip. Pffffft! |
Golf is gay.
|
I thought the ties (this was during a wedding reception, by the way), gave us a nice old-school look, a la Sarazen or Bobby Jones. Actually, I may start playing golf for good in suspenders and a tie. Just so I can feel cool.
|
You certainly look cool... but maybe that's just because you don't have a reverse pivot and a death grip.
|
Dodouble does look like Bobby Jones alittle bit...
TP is Walter Hagan, the great golfer who was always drunk lol... Speaking of Bobby Jones, you guys should watch the movie Bobby Jones: Stroke of Genius sometime, thats a awesome movie about his life. |
If thats not a reverse pivot I would love to see where you are at the top of that swing.
You don't hit a lot of shots fat? |
Nope.
'Splain to me exactly what a reverse pivot is (I honestly don't know), and I'll tell you if I have it or not. My game is far from consistent, but my swing is pretty mechanically sound. |
that grip is messed up or is it the pic?
|
I intentionally keep my right thumb a little bit behind where it "should" be. Other than that, my grip is fine. I used to interlock my fingers, but quit doing that... oh.... 10 or 12 years ago, I guess.
I'm gonna have to shoot and upload some video of my swing, aren't I? I hardly golf any more, so I'm not great, but I'm far from BAD. Have you all forgotten about me winning against Defendent just one year ago??? I just reread the whole thread - great stuff! |
All I know is TP can putt with the best of them!
|
And if you did happen to interlock your fingers, there'd be nothing wrong with that. It's pretty rare to see pros do it, but it so happens that two guys named Jack and Tiger do just that.
|
TP...
After your drive with the putter, did you just start putting towards the green or did you use the putter like a iron as well till you got to the green? |
I used it like a driver from the tees, like an iron from the fairway/rough/sand, and ONLY like a putter from the greens. The toughest shots I had to make were approach shots to the green where I had no "touch" - I went well over a number of greens. It's a lot harder than you think to hit a putter exactly 60 yards. Or 110. Or 170. Or whatever.
|
The hell is a reverse pivot...?
/single handicap golfer |
Wow, this went from "Tiger Wins!!!" to "What the hell is a reverse pivot" while also venturing into "18 holes with a putter"
How do you putt 200+ yards?! |
Club speed. :)
Remember, a putter is basically just a very short 0 iron. |
Ideally your wieght should shift, as you start your backswing, to your back foot and then move to your foreward foot as you swing to and through the ball. In the photos your head is WELL behind the ball as you approach it and then your head is above your back foot in the finish photo.
This means that too much weight is on your front foot as you make your backswing and thus can't be rushing foreward, costing you distance, and most likely shifting a bit from front to back, thus the term "reverse pivot". Next time you are swinging a club take a full shot and hold your finish position then see if you can lift your back foot completely off the ground without shifting any more weight foreward, if you can't then too much weight is on your back foot and not shifting foreward during your downswing, again costing you distance. In the fisnish photo for your head to be as far back as it is I would say a lot of weight still has to be on your back foot as your head is ALWAYS the center of balance, even as you simply walk around, thus your head should be directly over your front foot as the swing is completed. |
|
Yeah, my swing is fine. First, and this doesn't much matter, but those two photos were from two different swings. Secondly and more importantly, note the angle of the camera vs. how I am standing. The camera is not directly in front of me. It's at least 3 to 4 feet behind me center, which I suspect is what is causing the optical illusion.
I shift my weight properly during a swing. I could very easily lift that back foot if I wanted to after I finish, including the swing in the photo above - you just can't tell because of the angle of the camera. |
Tiger wins again!!!
And in other news ...
TP, you may want to take a look at this. It's Negreanu's blog. Check out the second entry (about 29 grafs in from the top of the page). |
You're right.... I SHOULD start playing Negreanu for money! His reverse pivot sounds a hell of a lot worse than mine.
$600k in the hole??? Wowzers. I wonder what it's like to have THAT much money that he can donk off over a half million on the golf course. |
What i want to know is how can you play for that kind of money if you dont even break 100 consistently ?!?!? I mean...Ill play for 200 at a time, but at least I can break par, and my scores are predictably consistent (69-74, anything outside is rare)...
|
this with handicap, or without? And TPs swing aint that bad, just needs a little more balance to the follow through. I hit a putter 150yards.....it was slightly downhill...and a very slick fairway. Im sure i read somewhere of someone using a new putter to drive off once, and hitting its 225 yards. Would love to see a vid fo that |
If you read the thread I linked to where Defendent and I made that bet last year, you'll see that I was consistently hitting my putter 200+ yards. STRAIGHT.
|
holy shit, gonnna read that now, edit to come i guess with me saying "holy shit" some more EDIT - holy shit. 1. your mad. 2. id have paid to round that with ya, that would have been some awesome fun. Take a few dollar bills and make shot by shot bets or something:) |
