win $300 if im an idiot

if anyone sees me playing ANY Limit poker, or 10/20 or 25/50 NL, then ill give u $300.

I just checked poker tracker, and last 15 days i won 21k playing 2/4, 3/6, and 5/10. Awesome, except i lost 21k playing 100/200 Limit, 10/20 and 25/50 NL.
so i suck, and need to stop doing that.

RESTART FOR ME. new poker tracker DB and everything. I'm actually gonna keep to this plan for once. Just grinding and bringing in a much steadier income with less variance and risk will be nice.

eejit101 11-11-06 11:30 PM

Keep yourself unblocked from searches, itll help you contain the urge

PShabi 11-11-06 11:45 PM

I just don't see what the new database thing accomplishes.

JDMcNugent7 11-11-06 11:54 PM

just gives me a feeling of a fresh start.

JDMcNugent7 11-11-06 11:57 PM

Whoa, "My playing privileges have been revoked"
What the Fuck?

Made me sit out at every table and now I can't sit or anything, no email.

Gordogg 11-11-06 11:59 PM

Full Tilt or Stars? :D

JDMcNugent7 11-12-06 12:03 AM

um stars, but apparently I can't play there anymore so who knows.

PShabi 11-12-06 12:32 AM

WTF? How much $$$$ did you have on there?

eejit101 11-12-06 12:33 AM

WTF is with that:confused:

JDMcNugent7 11-12-06 01:07 AM

wowowow.
Stars is trying to save me from myself apparently.

At a 3/6 table I was talking with Tdomeski when we were playing HU.
I go "I just lost 5k at 25/50"
he said "sucks, do u have the roll for that?"
I said "No, just a gambling problem lol"
- some railbird sent the chat to support and they closed it and sent me an email saying...

Our policy regarding gambling problem admissions is very strict. We do not
wish to cause anyone any problems.

I am sorry for any inconvenience this has caused, but saying you have a gambling problem is a
lot like saying "I have a bomb" when boarding an airplane, and we must take
all instances very seriously.

My e-mail back:
While my taking shots at 25/50 could be considered a gambling problem, because I do not have an edge there, thus I am gambling instead of expecting gains in the long-run, I don't think thats enough reason to close my enitre account. Please look at my records and you will see I am definitely a winner on your site and just need to stay away from the higher limit tables.

Then they sent this:

Thank you for your email.

We offer our games to have fun and maybe make money for players -
it is not our intention to destroy anyone's life, and letting a person with
a gambling problem gamble is exactly that.

Given your explanation (and your status as a lifetime winner on our site),
I do believe that you were probably just joking and do not really have a
gambling problem. I have reopened your account, but please do not joke
about this matter again in the future.

Best of luck and enjoy the games.

Regards,

Jacob

Stars support is so fast, while I don't like how they just closed my account based on one word I said jokingly, they got it up and going again pretty quick.

Dodoubled 11-12-06 01:18 AM

Wow. Though I wouldn't exactly compare it to, say, yelling "Bomb" on an airplane (THAT's a federal offense), it does show that at least it seems to give a shit about the welfare of its players. If you were at a casino blowing all that cash, they'd just offer you more free beer, and maybe comp you a room on the hunch that you'd be back the next day, losing some more.

Talking Poker 11-12-06 02:22 AM

That is fascinating... I really can't believe they did that. In the end though, I think it's a good thing.

Anyway, good luck with fresh start new plan #72, or whatever it is.

eejit101 11-12-06 02:34 AM

wow, thats...interesting.

Its damn good to see they care, but not so good they didnt check with you first or email to tell you this

Boobie Lover 11-12-06 02:57 AM

if its that big of a deal, why can't you just e-mail stars and ask them to block you off from the high limits?

JDMcNugent7 11-12-06 05:05 AM

they wont.

Robbie Robb 11-12-06 08:34 AM

That's crazy. I guess it's sorta good.

Of course, it kinda makes you wonder what would happen if, in the chat, you DID write that you had a bomb on an airplane...

New Guy 11-12-06 01:50 PM

It all sounds like they care but with them turning it back on with jus an e-mail makes me think its them just covering thier asses.lets face it a guy on crack that needs a hit will e-mail(or say) anything to get that hit so just e-mailing and saying you we're kidding and getting it put back on ,how much does that really show care???In JD's case though i'm glad it was that easy but for someone thats having problems I dont see it as helping that much with such an easy process of turning back on!!

MAYHEM45 11-12-06 02:10 PM

Him being a huge winner on the site probably factored into the decision.

Penguinfan 11-12-06 02:18 PM

Absolutly, actually it may have been the deciding factor. I have heard stories on other forums where people could not get their account turned back on.

In each of those examples it was them being pissed about a bad beat and e-mailing support asking for their account to be closed because they have a gambling problem, be careful what you ask for.

Tony Cheval 11-12-06 03:01 PM

In Stars' defense, they really are in a bit of a tight spot at the moment, holding the line on allowing US players and such, the last thing they need is for some sore loser to go running to the media.

JDMcNugent7 11-19-06 08:09 AM

i followed a fish up to 10/20 tonight so u all missed out on $300.
i am gonna end it for 10/20 tho, but for 50/100 limit + and 25/50 NL offer still stands.

PShabi 11-19-06 11:47 AM

I got mad love for you JD, but

Wow. You have zero self-discipline.

Good luck man. Another "goal" that barely makes it two weeks.

JDMcNugent7 11-19-06 11:55 AM

you do realize i follwed a known fish, took all his $, and happen to have 60 buy ins for 10/20.
some people would call me a nit for 10/20 not being my regular game.
for 3/6 i have 200 buy ins.

its not really like im out of control or putting a large portion of my BR on the line.

the class thing is certainly a problem tho. i'm having so much fun at college and am learning alot actually, next semester will be alot better and ill be going to alot more classes.

PShabi 11-19-06 12:08 PM

You set the goal, not me. Why would you set it if it wasn't a big deal?

S: (n) self-denial, self-discipline, self-control (the act of denying yourself; controlling your impulses)

bunny 11-19-06 12:37 PM

What is your Stars account name, JD?

I'm going to be your new stalker.

JDMcNugent7 11-19-06 12:39 PM

i dn, i set stupid goals way too often.
but you're right, there's no denying that i really lack in the self-discipline department.

Love the chat box!

Talking Poker 11-24-06 11:13 PM

hahaha - Score!

Question: Is the $300 offer still valid for the rest of the month, or were you only paying once?

JDMcNugent7 11-25-06 12:25 AM

Valid until Nov. 30th.

Gordogg 11-25-06 01:56 AM

gay, like boobie needs the money.

Boobie Lover 11-25-06 01:57 AM

I'm going to donate the $300 to that bad beat on cancer.

Gordogg 11-25-06 02:01 AM

donate it to a tp forum freeroll
lol

or donate it to the Gordogg backing/loan fund in the backing section. Fwalgman said so.

JDMcNugent7 11-25-06 05:06 AM

for everyone except boobie, cant win it twice.

Penguinfan 11-25-06 07:41 AM

Big props to you my man.

Good karma coming your way.

Talking Poker 11-25-06 11:58 AM

Awesome.

Penguinfan 11-25-06 01:29 PM

Get it right, come on, you've been at it long enough.

bunny 11-25-06 04:35 PM

That's really a sweet & generous thing to do. I'd give you a hug, but a +rep will have to do.

On behalf of all cancer survivors and their families, I thankyou.

bunny 11-26-06 09:45 AM

Made correction to above post.

BrianSwa 11-27-06 04:59 AM

yep

added a little something.

eejit101 11-27-06 05:12 AM

Was boobie being serious?? if so, nh sir

I actually believed JD wouldnt take a shot at it. My faith was misplaced.

However, he made like $5k at that one table i saw, so does he care?

Boobie Lover 11-27-06 11:49 AM

Unlike other individuals that lie to make themselves look more impressive on the Internet, I did donate as I said I would.

Talking Poker 11-27-06 12:41 PM

Classic eejit.

No need for me to respond to the first line, as Boobie already has that covered. nh, Boobie.

But for the rest, YES, he should care. Your statement is a fine example of being results oriented about poker. Just because something works out doesn't mean you made the correct decision. Even if you win the pot after calling a massive all in bet preflop with 72o and suck out on your opponents AA, you don't get to pat yourself on the back and say how great of a play you made. The same goes for things like this. If this was important enough to JD to actually set a goal about it AND he had so little self control that he placed a bounty on his head in hopes that would deter him from doing this, and then he STILL failed to meet said goal, then yes, I think he should care, even if he ended up winning money at the table. I'm sure you (eejit) don't see it, but there are signs here of a potential gambling problem, if not one that is already in full swing.

I've said it before, but I'll say it again, I have no idea how people can not meet goals that are along the lines of "Don't do ______." If you can't NOT do something (along these lines, anyway), then you have no self control and really need to step back and examine the bigger picture. IMO.

JD - I hope you aren't taking this as a shot at you, because it's not meant to be that. But yes, I do have some concerns about all of this, and I don't think it would be right for me not to voice them, just because you are a winner. shabi's posts in this thread () are spot on. IMO, you've got a little SWA in you. Brain's SWAness is just more obvious, because his involves him blowing his entire roll over and over again. Yours is a little harder to see, because you are a (big) winning player and you manage to stop yourself before things get too far out of control. But the SWAness is still there, and to deny it would be lying to yourself and potentially a very costly mistake someday down the road... Accept it, learn to deal with it, and hopefully overcome it.

My :twocents:.

Reel Deal 11-27-06 12:48 PM

^^ This is a smart person.

Nice post TP.

Tony Cheval 11-27-06 03:02 PM

Very nice, Boobie. And I love the avatar.

BrianSwa 11-27-06 03:46 PM

nice

very good post TP and yea pretty much agree with all the swa stuff you said, since all my blowups I have learned to control myself to a point. Do I have a gambling problem? most would say yes, myself I don't really know....maybe. I think JD just loves to gamble which is exactly what I used to feel, lately though the gamble part has gone away and the controlling my bankroll has set in.

I actually do have a suggestion in all this though, I think you should take out alot of your bankroll and leave just enough in to say play 2/4 NL and at end of each week withdraw. So lets say you want to stay at the level 2/4 NL you need 20 buyin for that so that would be 8k right? OK so end of week take out all the money over 8k, this is what Chuck and I plan on doing with our bankrolls but we are playing at much smaller scale and playing limit.

something BB said awhile ago rings true, I used to say how bored I was playing low limits and he said it shouldn't matter what level Imam playing with as long as I'm playing, playing poker is playing poker no matter what level you are at. I actually don't have any money on line right now and like I said earlier this month I don't want to play until next month and I'm sticking to that and wont deposit till beginning of next month but when I do deposit I will be playing real low limit like $1-$5 and $3 re-buys, $3 re-buy satties, .25/.50 limit ( yes I said limit, I like this game its easy and with my $600 bankroll I'm well bankrolled for it) I will never go broke playing this level and poker is poker right?

I hope to one day show that I'm not the same SWA player I was in the past but I'm man enough to admit that I earned that name from my past.

JDMcNugent7 11-27-06 03:52 PM

look at that, sit down and win 5k and donate $300 cancer, im awesome.

Actually, I'm totally kidding cuz im a big loser at 25/50. It's horrible that I even play it and really the only time I do is when I'm having a significant losing day and my brain decides to think like an idiot and try to win it all back fast.

ive been real pissed at myself for this for real. it really is just completely ridiculous i cant hold a goal for a month. i think i have a gambling problem when im down alot of $, but all other times I think much clearer and wouldnt think of playing 25/50. I havent played really at all the last 2 days and I'm not sure I'm going to for awhile. I don't like losing $.
