WSOP WPT Starting Chips (denominations)

I have looked around but have been unable to find...

What are the starting chip denominations given to players in a standard $10 000 buy-in tournament?

10 000 broken down into...

# of $25
# of $100
# of $500
# of $1000
# of $5000 (if any)

I thought maybe Herschel would know ;)

Well, this year they started the WSOP with 20k chips. I've played in WPT Events that have started anywhere from 10k to 25k starting chips.

The starting chip breakdown doesn't really matter, but's it's usually pretty simple. For 10k chips , it's usually something like:

1 $5000
3 $1000
2 $500
8 $100
8 $25

The only thing I'm not sure about there is if it's 3 $1000 and 2 $500 or 2 $1000 and 4 $500. I'm pretty sure I have it right though.

Go to and do a search there. You can get all the info you need on the breakdowns, not to mention some killer poker chip ideas, group buys, etc.

Beware though...it can be addictive.

TP's breakdown looks pretty close/spot on though.
