The power of K3s

So, I was playing a SnG on pokerroom, 15-30 blinds, mid position, I get dealt AQo. One raise in front of me to 150, so I call and a guy behind me calls as well. Flop is As8s3h. One check, so I raise 450, size of the pot. The guy behind me calls. Next card is the Qd, so I push him all in for 800 more. He calls and...flips over Ks3s.

And rivers a 3d.

WHAT THE FUCK??????

First of all, who calls a 5 big blind raise with K3s???

I guess his call on the flop is questionable but oh well.

But the ALL IN when he misses on the turn???? WTF????

It's still a bad beat but he was probably calling because of his nut flush draw. It's still a series of horrible calls and a tough beat, but its not like he rivered a gutshot or some other insane 2-3 out hand.

Although he was in it for the flush draw, he hit one of his pair (or trip) outs.

fonzerelli_79 12-13-04 02:04 PM

you have to remember that you only had one pair - top pair isnt as strong as people think it is, certainly not with a flush draw on the table

A few people called. With 2 spades on the table there is bound to be someone hanging around chasing that final spade which mean that they could have anything. I think the guy played it well - he had 2 outs on the 3s to win the hand and 9 outs on the flush plus another 3 outs on kings to have two pair. Most good players call if they have a low pair and a flush draw

how much cash did he have - did he have more chips than you? Perhaps calling your all in didnt hurt his chip count much and gave him an opportunity to take someone else out of the game bettering his overall chances of winning.

i'm guessing when he said "i put him all in" that the other guy didn't have him covered. no, he DIDNT play the hand well. calling before the flop with K3s? idiots playing online will call with any suited cards, practically any face card, it's ridiculous.

Kidd7138 12-13-04 03:31 PM

Calling an all in with 14 outs on the river is NOT playing the hand well, especially when you combine that with his call preflop.

Defendant 12-13-04 04:51 PM

WTF are you talking about? This is NL, I bet the size of the pot, and then all his stack. That is more than sufficient to chase out any flush draw. Remember Potodds? 35-65 to catch, 50-50 on the money...Not worth a call. Also...read the post again, please. I put HIM all in.

And in case you didnt notice, I had 2 pair, aces and queens.

Wow the content of that post is incredibly stupid. I think there is a new village idiot ... Brian, you're off the list - I have a new favorite.

fonzerelli_79 12-13-04 08:09 PM

i misread the first post - i was playing at pokerroom at the time and thought you only had one pair (i still think my original point would be valid it was one pair and not two)

Aequitas58 (Lou) - theres no need for the abuse mate. If you disagree with what i said, fair enough but from the previous threads and posts ive read here i dont think this is the place for petty name calling - theres enough of that on other forums. :)
