ING Direct referral?

Does ING offer cash for exisiting account holders who refer friends?

Spidey44 10-12-05 12:25 AM

I was looking into that as well, but I haven't seen anything.

They have the $25 signup bonus (gotta keep account active for 90 days I believe), but that's all I found.

2Tone 11-02-05 02:23 PM

I'm now ING-ing

Don’t know why I waited so long. My meager winnings are now growing at 3.4% annual yield, plus I received $25 bonus for opening the account through a referral. PM me your full name and email if you’d like a referral – you get $25, I get $10.

Talking Poker 11-02-05 02:45 PM

Can you post a link? I honestly don't even know what you're talking about, but I'll look into it. Is this some sort of Neteller alternative?

2Tone 11-02-05 03:29 PM

Just an online bank

Ing Direct is an online bank. You've probably seen the big orange ads.

The advantage is the high interest rate -- it's basically a good place to store a chunk of cash, more fluid than a CD. It’s FDIC insured, and you can make electronic deposits and withdrawals from your regular physical bank whenever you want.

It can not be used to fund poker sites directly. However, you can attach you Netteller accnt to it, just like any other bank accnt.

For the canadian website, I did the refer a friend to get $13 both for my account and the friend that opened an account.

I believe the US site has a similar promo, but I think the only way to tell is if an existing member logs in.

*Edit - maybe next time I'll read the entire thread.

MAYHEM45 11-02-05 05:28 PM

What kind of account do you have? Im pretty dumb about all this bank stuff.

Would it be better to get the savings account or a GIC?

2Tone 11-02-05 05:45 PM

The savings account is 3.4 APY

You can check out
and

I did the savings account, which pays 3.4, with no fees and min balance.

MAYHEM45 11-02-05 06:10 PM

Looks like Canadians get screwed, we only get 2.5.
Or can I sign up for an american account?

Talking Poker 11-02-05 06:27 PM

Cool.... I have heard of them, but wasn't sure how it applied here (poker). Makes sense. Thanks for the info. I'll check them out and if I decide to open an account, I'll let you know for the referral.

My main concern, and this could definitely be another thread entirely, is tax consequences. I'm not saying I plan to cheat on my taxes (and I don't), but the more places I have money that the IRS knows about, the more red flags may go up and the more they may be inclined to question my income reporting. By moving money in and out of Neteller (who doesn't have my SSN and therefore doesn't talk to the IRS) and NOT in and out of my bank (who has all of the above), I feel like my life will be a little bit easier when it comes time to pay the tax man.

BTW, I'm assuming ING 1099s you at the end of the year. If this is incorrect and it's all off the books (other than you linking it to your primary bank account), please correct me.

Spidey44 11-11-05 09:31 AM

For anyone with an account, can you send me a referral? I think I saw yesterday that the person who sends the referral will get $10. Let me know.

The rate is up to 3.5%

Talking Poker 11-11-05 12:27 PM

PM 2Tone. He deserves the kickback...

PShabi 11-11-05 06:00 PM

I just opened up something similar with .

4%

Just sayin'. ;)

Spidey44 11-11-05 10:31 PM

Ewwww...4%. I'll definitely look into that.

thrash1294 11-13-05 08:27 PM

Yes the refferal thing to ing direct works I got a free $25 a year ago

2Tone 11-14-05 01:05 PM

Spidey, your PMs are full

But I've sent you a referral. Thanks!

Spidey44 11-14-05 06:11 PM

Thanks 2Tone!

2Tone 01-20-06 05:32 PM

ING Promo -- 4.75% through 4/15

Anybody who wants a referral for a new account ($25 for you, $10 for me) PM me your full name and email.

Spidey44 01-25-06 01:31 PM

Damn... I just signed up with HSBC a couple weeks ago for 4.25! Might have to start moving some money around.

PayPerView 01-29-06 04:27 AM

If anyone needs the voucher

If anyone still needs a 25$ free upon 250$ initial deposit offer, I have a few left, just PM

Spidey44 01-31-06 06:06 PM

Just an fyi...HSBC has upped their rates to 4.8%. ING is only a promotional deal and only for new money and will revert back to the previous rate. HSBC increase is not a promotional rate.

eejit101 01-31-06 06:15 PM

Ya this rate is for real, its variable and only so high because the bank of englands rates are so good. And my dad is an HSBC manager and told me about this for poker, but ING direct looks good too. But HSBC is the safest IMO
