hey yooooooouuuu guuuuys.

So I'm back, for alittle while atleast, did ya miss me? lol

So i decided to send PokerStars a email just to ask where they stood on the ghosting subject ( refer to this thread to catch up ), and before anyone flames me for snitching or anything like that I didn't mention any names or any forum names, my email i sent was this :

Hi,

I'm sending you this email to clarify where PokerStars stand on the subjectof ghosting. I recently got involved in a debate on a forum where someonewas asking to be ghosted during one of you battle of the planets games.

I replied that I think being ghosted is unfair on the other players and that I think it is cheating. whilst some on the forum supported my view most did not and infact basically dissmissed it and said it isn't against the rules and therefore not cheating. I have since left that forum but wish to hear what are the rules/views of PokerStars on this topic.

Many Thanks

Thadeas

so within a very quick amount of time I got this response :

Hello Thadeas,

Thank you for your email. PokerStars requires that each account is played by only one player, and eachplayer may only play on one account.

Of course, there is no way to control where that player might get advicefrom - if they have a book in front of them that details how to play a handin a particular way, we do not prohibit that.

Similarly, if they have someone by their side (or on the phone or whatever)giving them advice, this is not possible to prohibit using any commerciallyavailable technology today, nor against our rules. As a general principle,PokerStars tries to avoid implementing rules that are impossible to enforce.

Clearly, it would be unreasonable and inappropriate for PokerStars to evenconsider accessing a user's webcam to figure out who else is in the room - so we don't.

Thus, while we would prefer if 'ghosting' didn't happen, since there isliterally no way of enforcing such a rule, we do not have such a prohibition.

By the way, providing such advice if you were dealt into the same hand isobviously against the rules, but I understand that you weren't asking about this.

I trust that this has been helpful to you, but please feel free to contactus again anytime if we can help you further.

Now this response sort of vindicates me as much as to say that if there was a way to check/enforce such a rule they would do it, but since they can't it is not against the rules even though they may like it to be.

Most of you will read this and dissagree with me but meh.

the other interesting part is what i've put in bold, maybe i read it wrong but are they saying that even sharing HH's and asking how someone else would play a hand different is against the rules, or are they implying that if on the phone/Instant messenger with someone asking to play a hand is against the rules?

I relise i'm gonna get flammed for comming back and bringing this up but again meh, I don't believe I owe anyone a appology, I am simply sticking to my beliefs which we are all entitled to.

Thadeas.

No, they are saying that if two people are in the SAME hand and one gives advice to the other, that would obviously be against the rules (since they have specific information about the cards in play in the hand that the other player does not).

claudioxcore 07-06-09 11:27 AM

Lol we weren't arguing your standpoints on this situation, we're were pointing out what a total oblivious and ignorant tool you are.

thadeas1 07-06-09 12:39 PM

Comming from you I will take that as a compliment

Talking Poker 07-06-09 02:53 PM

So, basically.... their response to you was EXACTLY what we said it would be ("we" being those of us who already knew the rules), and you came back to apologize? Oh wait, you said you specifically are not apologizing. So, I guess you came back to admit you were wrong while going out of your way to point out that you are not apologizing?

How very mature of you.

And the bold is exactly what it says. If you and I are playing at the same table, we can't discuss our hands because that's collusion. Ghosting is not.

claudioxcore 07-06-09 03:17 PM

I just +'ed the fuck outta this. rofl.

thadeas1 07-06-09 03:35 PM

Well TP you and the others were right, it isn't against the rules so congrats on that.

The reason I wont applogize is because I still feel it is wrong and I dont agree with it, i'm allowed my opinion.

If the sites could police it i'm sure they wouldn't allow it, but since there isn't currently a way to do this they can't as the email says prohibit it.

still doesn't sit ok with me but meh.

claudioxcore 07-06-09 04:25 PM

Thanks for coming back and telling us we were right all along, sir.

jillaj 07-06-09 04:27 PM

More of this IMO

claudioxcore 07-06-09 04:28 PM

lmao.

thadeas1 07-06-09 05:16 PM

dont worry i'm sure i wont be around very long.

Talking Poker 07-06-09 07:22 PM

No one is asking you to apologize for your feelings/beliefs/whatever. We think you should apologize for being wrong and attacking the people who were right.

Like, I don't care if you think the speed limit on I95 in Florida is 40 mph. You can believe that all day long, but when you confirm that it's actually 70, you should probably apologize to the people you were calling names because they correctly knew it was 70. After that, you can go on thinking it SHOULD be 40 all day long.

So, how is your search for a poker forum where everyone believes ghosting is wrong going?

thadeas1 07-07-09 06:31 AM

Ok so not everyone thinks the same as me on this issue, I get that, and not everyone will agree with me on other issues, I get that also. As you well know TP the internet is a wash with forums on all manner of subects and there are dissagreements everyday which is part of the fun.

claudioxcore, I still believe that ghosting is wrong or at the very least unethical but it isn't against the sites TOS and therefore I appologize for jumping to some sort of conclusion about you.

there appology done.

claudioxcore 07-07-09 11:06 AM

Apology accepted.

Reel Deal 07-07-09 11:15 AM

LOL, I think JD thinks its 140 mph.

Talking Poker 07-07-09 12:20 PM

Well now, that wasn't so hard, was it?

GL at your new forum(s).

thadeas1 07-07-09 01:41 PM

there are no new forums, just the same old ones i always use, this is one of them and until I get a banhammer your gonna have to put up with me :D
