Your Best TRICK/Getting New Players To The Game??

A friend of mine has been running a game for nearly five yrs and the game has started to become a little stale.

I can't think of any good tricks to bring this game back from the dead.

What's your best trick?
Need some help!

We keep ours very friendly (the by-product is that the play is not very high end). We have a very low buy-in and if a person has never playe NLHE before, their first tournament is onthe house.

Oh yeah, is it a tournament? That will draw more new people than ring games, since that is what the media has made them most familiar with and they know their potential loses are more or less fixed.

Have you been playing strictly NLHE? If so, split it up like an hour of NL, and an hour of dealer's choice...especially if it's a friendly game.

There was a game here that attracted people by having a freeroll SNG to get things started and then the cash game afterward. They'd kick in like $300 for the freeroll and then play a 2/5 NL cash game after. Most people would feel guilty just playing the freeroll and leaving, but they would show up in time to not miss it, rather than come hours late (if at all), leaving everyone else shorthanded.

I would assume that is a raked game...no?

Mandatory straddle

How about requiring a straddle that 2X the big blind, with straddler getting last action?

Well yes, obviously.
