ouch

Talking Poker 11-09-05 08:12 PM

That stings.... I'm surprised you kept raising on the river though, after it was pretty clear you were beat. Not that it makes much difference, but I would have saved $20 on the river. Well, $14, I guess, since you were playing $5/$10 with only $84 sitting in front of you for some reason (tsk, tsk, tsk)...

Robbr25 11-09-05 09:01 PM

Yeah I was down to 84, had no cards before this hand.
Yeah when he reraised on the river I figured he had 99,
but figured WTH.

wdson01 11-09-05 09:03 PM

ya just bad beat....everyone hates those but it makes poker poker i guess but you jus gotta keep your head up :-)

Talking Poker 11-09-05 09:06 PM

Hmmm.... I'm not so sure figuring WTH is +EV... you may want to reconsider that in the future.

Good read though, if you really put him on exactly 99.

Robbr25 11-09-05 09:11 PM

Sure the read on the river was 99, if he had AA he would have reraised the turn, which he did not. Cause if he had AA he also had a str8 draw.
WTH is What the Hell and yes +EV, lol Just saw that guy today.

Talking Poker 11-09-05 09:23 PM

I know what WTH means. My point is I don't think saying "WTH" and continuing to put MORE money into pots (by reraising) when you know you are beat is a a good idea in the long run.

And I have no idea what "guy" you are talking about...

Robbr25 11-09-05 09:28 PM

The videos he makes fun of Hellmuth +EV

Yeah I know it is wasting money unless my read is wrong.
Chop that up to some tilt.

Talking Poker 11-09-05 09:45 PM

And that's why you CALL, in case your read is wrong... but by reraising, you're just tossing $20 out the window.

EV = Expected Value. Common Poker Term. Don't give credit to Hellmuth for it, cause I'm sure he didn't come up with it...

Robbr25 11-09-05 10:30 PM

It ok, I up on the night now.
Was able to come back from losing that big pot.

johnp158 11-09-05 11:22 PM

Do you make money at 5/10?

Robbr25 11-09-05 11:23 PM

I have so far.

JDMcNugent7 11-10-05 01:07 AM

how long have been playing poker?

Robbr25 11-10-05 06:50 PM

Holdem since 2002

5/10 for about a year, before that I played 1/2 mostly.
I like 5/10 though.
