If you are interested in filling out a bracket...

This is the thread to respond in.

Here are the details I think should come into it -- this is FAR from final (although it needs to be in the next few days), so if people have other ideas, or would do something differently please let me/us know.

5 dollar entry fee -- this should be low enough so anyone that wants to participate can, it'll provide a little extra to the winner but nothing major...and it adds a little more fun to it. (Edit if everyone is interested in doing it for a higher amount, as long as it wont result in a loss of people participating that is fine.)

There needs to be a certain # of people interested in order to get this going -- i dunno what the minimum # should be -- but lets hope its not an issue.

Fill out an entire bracket (please make sure your match ups for the later rounds are correct -- if someone wants to post a bracket style list of the matchups to make it easier thatd be fantastic, although i dunno how youd get it to fit. As long as you pay a little bit of attention it should be too hard to figure it out though).

Round of 32: 1 point each
Round of 16: 2 points each
Round of 8: 4 points each
Round of 4: 8 points each
Championship: 10 points

If two players are tied we can do one of two tie breakers.

-- The player who advanced further in the tournament gets the tie breaker

-- Everyone guesses the time it'll take for the championship to be decided, the closest time breaks the tie

The should be a winner takes all event, unless there is an unusual amount of interest (i.e all 32 players fill out brackets -- which btw is how it should be)
If that is the case 2nd and or 3rd place may be rewarded as well

All brackets must be posted BEFORE the start of the 1st match

If you are interested reply to this thread so we can see if there is enough interest (and theres no reason there shouldnt be) to get this going

Unrelated Side Note: I also think that all matches should be posted in a special thread started in the rail me section, saying what day and time they are being played -- that way people can rail (and spy on their future opponents perhaps :D )

Ummm, Im sure Im forgetting plenty, so yell at me. If you hate something about this let me know (specifically the point totals). If you think itd work better if we changed something lets hear it.

I'm interested in the bracket and this (above) will be happening. I'll set it up.

lightfungus 07-29-05 09:08 PM

Im in, definately. I cant resist a good bracket.

Talking Poker 07-29-05 09:13 PM

I assume you have TP going deep in your bracket, right? Cause I have fungus going deep in mine :)

lightfungus 07-29-05 09:21 PM

Actually yes, that was my plan :o

Lightfungus' picks can be found here:

I'm going to whip up an Excel spreadsheet with the brackets for people to fill out. Then we'll post them all here.

BTW, don't forget to send your $5 entry fee to "TalkingPoker" at Poker Stars. Because of the relatively limited interest so far, I think this should be winner take all.

PShabi 07-30-05 11:12 AM

I'm a bit confused. I haven't kept up with the threads like I should.

$5 is for brackets right?

Do we need to post any cash for the actually Heads up challenge? Or is that what the $5 is for?

What's the winner (who, moi?) of this thing get?

lightfungus 07-30-05 01:26 PM

Done.

Zybomb 07-30-05 02:33 PM

If you wanna fill out a bracket (and you and everyone else should!) its $5 (the rules of the bracket are explained in this 1st thread). There is no fee for the HU tournament. Depending on the final # of entries the bracket with the most points gets the whole pot (unless there is a significant increase in interest then 2 and or 3rd may get something also) The winner of the HU tourny gets.....I dunno?

PS: Fungus how do I fill out my bracket like you did?

PPS: COME ON PEOPLE, for sure more people are interested

PShabi 07-30-05 04:08 PM

I'll have one in before midnight tonight.

lightfungus 07-30-05 04:18 PM

Right click on the pic of the posted bracket in whatever thread it is in, and save it. Then find it and right click and open with paint. Then just use the text box tool and fill it in. Its a gimp way to do it but thats how i did it.

Talking Poker 07-30-05 05:31 PM

The HUC is free. I was hoping to get a poker site to kick in some prize money, but they all suck, so I'm taking care of it myself. Prizes will be announced when the official rules are posted, most likely tomorrow (maybe later tonight).

The brackets are optional and cost $5 per bracket. Feel free to fill out more than 1 if you like.

kkirk1329 07-30-05 05:40 PM

im not gonna play for the money but im going to fill in one for fun and post it

Talking Poker 07-30-05 05:58 PM

No offense... but don't bother.

This is all confusing enough. We don't need extra brackets floating around.

AEQ over Cheval but that was a tough decision. Cheval's good, but Lou beat TP before.

Oh wait, so did Kirky and Brian LMAO!
