superbowl square

somebody man up and set up a talkingpoker.com superbowl square. I'd be good for a couple of squares at least. Somewhere in the range of $5-20 a square, whatever the highest denomination is that you think we'd get all 100 squares sold.

I'd do it, but I suck.

Talking Poker 01-28-08 08:44 PM

I also suck.

I've got a $200 square in another pool.

lightfungus 01-29-08 06:31 AM

What is a square?:o

Kurn 01-29-08 08:19 AM

You draw a 10 x 10 grid. You write, NE on the top (for example) and NYG down the side. Everybody puts up $x per square for the right to claim that square in the grid (100 total), when they're all claimed you randomly assign numbers 0-9 to each row and each column.

Each grid spot then represents a number for each team. Say NE 5, NYG 2.

At the end of each quarter, if your numbers match the team's score in the 1's place (Say NE 15 NYG 12) you win the portion of the prize pool for that quarter.

Depending on who runs the pool, each qurter may be worth an equal amount, or there may be increasing prize value as the game goes on.

Now the obvious question. How is it possible you've never seen this before? Its been pretty damn standard in every bar, workplace, home party, etc. for at least 20-30 years.

MAYHEM45 01-29-08 08:42 AM

Id be willing to set this up. Give me till later tonite to come up with the logistics (aka steal everything from the 2p2 pools ideas).

CalifNaughti 01-29-08 11:19 AM

Im in 3 SuperBowl pools riight now..make one up and I will buy a few squares! :)

MAYHEM45 01-29-08 11:45 AM

K I think ten bucks a square is a good middle ground and will sell the most squares. 100 x 10 = 1k prizepool. well do 200 for end of 1st and 3rd quarters and 300 for half and end of the game.

ship the money to mayhem45 (windsor) on stars. I will buy whatever squares are left over as well as reserve 10 for myself.

melioris 01-29-08 11:53 AM

good work. I just shipped $50 for 5 squares on Stars. I will split whatever is left over with you 50/50, as long as you don't mind me sending you money on fulltilt, as now I got nothing on stars.

MAYHEM45 01-29-08 11:58 AM

k that makes 17 squares sold so far. 83 left people!

k new guy has 5 as well. 78 left.

5 for studiopet. 73 left. hurry people.

bdawg31 01-29-08 12:05 PM

I will buy a square (maybe another if you have trouble moving them). I will send you the $10 tonight if i log on my home laptop (i am at work now).

studiopet 01-29-08 12:08 PM

Got my 5

BTW

Talking Poker 01-29-08 12:27 PM

10 for TP. Shipping $100 to "Windsor" now.

You manned up and agreed to run this, so we play by your rules... but may I suggest splitting the money with more on the Final score somehow? Like maybe $200, $250, $200, $350. Meh, whatever. Not like I'll win a number anyway.

BTW, how are you going to assign the names and the numbers? I've never done a square pool "virtually" before.

If anyone wants to see some CRAZY square rules, how about these from the $200 ($20,000) one I'm in:

The "opposite" rule is pretty cool (and simple) if you want to give a few more prizes.

MAYHEM45 01-29-08 12:37 PM

Jesus Christ, id rather not spend all nite sunday making transfers, So i think we'll keep it simple and only have 4 prizes. Im all for the 200,250,200,350 breakdown tho, as long as noone who already transferred funds disagrees.

Talking Poker 01-29-08 12:47 PM

I wasn't suggesting doing those! Was just sharing the rules from the big pool I do every year. Don't forget to tell us how you're assigning squares.

Edit: If it was me, I'd make a list, numbered 1 through 100 and fill in people's names as they pay, ie:

1. Mayhem
2. Mayhem
3. Mayhem
...
11. melioris
12. melioris
...
16. New Guy
17. New Guy
...

You get the idea. Then, after you have the list filled in (or at any time, really), go and generate a sequence of 100 numbers. Write those numbers in the boxes of your grid (0,0 Top left - 9,9 bottom right), starting in the top left square and going across and down, like you would if you were writing. Then simply add people's names to their square and Tada!

jillaj 01-29-08 01:04 PM

I am in for 10 squares if I can get a transfer from FT or pay on FT.

Reel Deal 01-29-08 01:55 PM

I'll take 3.

MAYHEM45 01-29-08 02:32 PM

Anyone who wishes to pay on FTP my name there is fghtffyrdmns. First letter of city is W.

I didnt put this in the original post because of the high probability of typos, lol. Probably best if you copy and paste the name from this post.

MAYHEM45 01-29-08 02:34 PM

Yeah I know, I just feel bad for whoever is running your pool, lol. Yeah I was gonna google a random number generator after everyone had paid, but that one looks good. Thanks TP.

MAYHEM45 01-29-08 02:36 PM

This is first come first serve based on payment btw, looks like it will sell out too. If I get too many transfers I will transfer back to whoever misses the deadline ASAP.

Kurn 01-29-08 03:10 PM

I'm in for 1. I'll transfer on 'Tilt.

Kurn 01-29-08 03:11 PM

$10 transferred

CalifNaughti 01-29-08 03:22 PM

I'm in for 2 squares. Money shipped.
Cali :)

Wes 01-29-08 03:41 PM

I don't really understand how this is going to work, but fuck it I like 0 EV gambling. Give me 5.

melioris 01-29-08 03:52 PM

damn tp for a guy who sucks you sure got a lot of ideas about this

FTW

Talking Poker 01-29-08 04:33 PM

Ohhh, fancy....

And yes, I suck (suck = uber lazy), but I still want things done right!
