DOJ going after eCheck

Fildy 06-09-09 03:01 PM

thats probably why it said "temporarily unavailable" when I tried to deposit to get the 300k freeroll reload bonus.

MAYHEM45 06-09-09 08:09 PM

the sky is falling yet again. Front page of yahoo.

Talking Poker 06-09-09 09:00 PM

Yeah, this one looks bad, but I've been around long enough to know not to panic yet.

You should all fucking move to Europe.

Greece is nice this time of year.

Kurn 06-10-09 08:25 AM

If I were single, I'd already be living in Spain. Or Panama. Or Costa Rica.

Although the "vacation home in Nova Scotia" idea may still be viable.

Isn't military service mandatory for all Greece citizens?

Talking Poker 06-12-09 04:47 AM

Post from John Pappas, Director of the PPA:

Mogul4 06-12-09 07:31 AM

No. Theres many different mandotory things you can choose from.

Military is one of them. And Aliens, i believe, do not have to do this.

Mogul4 06-12-09 07:39 AM

"At this time the PPA is not organizing a letter writing/call campaign into the Doj, White House, etc, focused on this issue. A full blown campaign organized by us, could be more detrimental than helpful at this critical juncture – this could change. I am aware, however, that individuals on this forum and other place are taking the initiative on their own and we welcome that."

So what are they doing............................

Apparently nothing of any use. They give you 4 options of things to do to help.

1- Send a letter
2- Get other to send a letter
3- Join the PPA
4- Pay $20 to join and get cool stuff.

So, pay $20, get "some cool stuff", probably free stuff, and write your own letters to people!!!

What a load of shit.

Kurn 06-12-09 07:38 PM

It's not, actually, a load of shit. In fact, what they're doing, i.e., contesting the actions of the DOJ and SDNY in court, is precisely the correct way to handle this.

Start a visible letter-writing campaign that gets into the newspapers and you bring the issue to light to the millions of US citizens who normally don't give a shit. Those people are more likely to fall for the opposition arguments: Offshore Gambling = mafia/terrorist/drug cartel money laundering fronts. DOJ types, Republican or Democrat all tend to support these specious arguments. Even the most liberal administration's DOJ is comprised of former cops and prosecutors who tend to view the world as made up of two types of people: Moral majority types and scumbags.

The secondary truth is make this issue front page news in this economy and the vast majority of US citizens will see it as a non-issue and prefer the status quo, and the current status quo is no good for us.(as opposed to the status quo 5 years ago which was good for us).

Get the attention of the right people and the best chance is to have key people i congressional finance come to the realization that there is a lot of tax revenue available in online poker, and since the bills are eventually going to come due for this "skittles for everybody" administration, maybe the current trend can be reversed.

That's a long-winded rant on why I think the PPA is taking the right course here.
