Anyone ever have this happen to them?

This was not that recent, but it just came into my memory.

We're playing a home game, regular guys every Wednesday, good friends and such.

I go all-in with pocket 6s and a good chip stack to force a smaller stack to get all of his chips in or fold. It was just the two of us.

He deliberates and calls, only to show me pocket 6s!

He then beat me out when the board ran off 4 clubs in a row to hit a flush.

That was a tough one to swallow.

Funny thing is, I said, watch him hit a flush, right before the flop. Seems like if I ever call out what can beat me, it appears. The other night, I had my buddy down and on the river, he needed an Ace to back door a wheel. I said "anything but an ace" and you know what came up. I'm shutting up now.

I believe the odds are about 11% of one of you catching a flush, but I may be wrong with this.

I've never faced someone all in when we both had the same pocket pair. That's funny.

the other night i had an epic hand.... down to a pretty low stack because of a maniac's reckless draw-outs, i dont think he understood what pod odds are. i get 77 in 1st position, go all in for less than a normal buyin. everyone folds around to the guy.... he has 88. I'm like whatever.... this just isnt my night. then my friend who folded pulls his hand out of the muck and shows me he had 77 also... it was worth losing a tiny stack though cuz we kept laughing about it for 30 minutes.

I had that beat once, in a Pokerstar $3 in the final 30s. Big days to final table. Me and another stack get all in with AK. S/he has AK too an runs off 4 hearts. I felt queesy after that.

i find those to be the absolute worst kind of beats. although, i guess it is worse when you have AKs, and the other person has AKo, and they still pull out the flush on you.

Yeah had kk vs kk last night and he hit flush.

Also had aa vs aj / aj / jj to which was a strange one. I lost to str8

Checking the odds on the twodimes poker calculator we get this...

pokenum -h 6c 6s - 6h 6d
Holdem Hi: 1712304 enumerated boards
cards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EV
6s 6c 37118 2.17 37118 2.17 1638068 95.66 0.500
6d 6h 37118 2.17 37118 2.17 1638068 95.66 0.500

so it seems that you have about a 2% chance of catching a flush, assuming that there is no other way to win without getting a flush (which there isn't).

Thanks for the info, I must have been thinking about something else.
