Sports Betting this weekend

I havent posted sports betting in a while.

Although I had a losing week last week, I should have posted the steal of the year which won for me Michigan at home getting 3.5 with every stat to back them (penn state hadnt beaten them 96 for starters). An underated bc of the first two games Michigan team vs an overrated Penn State IN THE BIG HOUSE getting points? Boom. Too bad others didn't come through.... but anyway onto my point of this thread

I know there arent too many boxing fans here, but Im a huge boxing (and semi huge MMA) fan. While not a guaranteed winner here, the price on this is too good to pass up

This Saturday is the Middleweight Championship Fight between undefeated champion Jermain Taylor and unbeaten power puncher Kelly Pavlik.

Taylor is getting +220 if you pick him to win by decision

- Taylor while beginning his career as a knockout artist has developed into a boxer/puncher and with each fight is utilizing more footspeed, movement and a lead jab rather than power shots.

- In Taylor's last 6 or so fights he has not had a KO... this includes fights against Kassim Ouma and Cory Spinks, both blown up welterweights clearly smaller and weaker than Taylor

- When Pavlik faught his biggest test against once beaten Colombian power puncher Edison Miranda , Pavlik took some tremendous shots from a huge puncher and walked right through them, continuing to move forward and keep the tempo high before eventually KOing Miranda in the 7th

Given this, a Taylor KO is unlikely -- so if he wins it will be by decision.

As for the fighter, I give a slight edge to Taylor due to experience, hand speed, foot speed and maneuverability. Taylor also has a great lead jab to keep Pavlik back and counter his charging in style of fighting. Pavlik's advantage is his power, however Pavlik is still relatively untested outside of the Miranda fight (and there are those who believe Miranda was overhyped)

The official line for the fight has Taylor as a slight favorite at -130, and that seems about right. Although I can see Pavlik winning, I'd give a small edge to Taylor.... then ontop of that getting over 2:1 on my money (since I really can not see a Taylor KO victory) this (Taylor by Decision +220) is a bet I simply cant pass up

I miss Penguinfan's sports betting posts. I remember he ran really badly for a while and then lost his whole roll (after putting it all on once game) and left the forum, but I always enjoyed his analysis.

I'd only bet on boxing if I was going to watch the fight, and I'm not watching this one.... GL though.

I cant believe Liddel got knock out by Jardine. Cost me a ton. I did pick Forrest Griffin to upset Shogun Rua though.
