Tim Donaghy

I'm like 99.9% certain that the same applied to game 5 of the jazz-lakers this year.

I remember watching that game in Portsmouth NH in some shitty fucking bar and thinking the fix was in. But it is nothing new, it is in the best interest of the NBA, and it has been for a long time, to have Kobe be superstar.

I always have a hard time believing something that comes from a disgruntled idiot that also happens to be a convicted felon.

melioris 06-11-08 05:04 PM

from this on ESPN-

"After the Lakers lost Game 2 of these Finals in Boston, shooting only 10 free throws to the Celtics' 38? After the Lakers took a must-win Game 3 at home to slice the series deficit to 2-1 and save their season, shooting 20 of the evening's first 24 free throws and with Kobe Bryant going to the line 18 times?"

surely hasn't cornered the market on fixing matches?

So, please show me someone in tennis (either an official or a player) who is an admitted game fixing gambler that has been convicted of a felony related to match fixing. Go ahead, I'll wait...

I'm sorry, but Donaghy's credibility is zero with me, that's the point of my comment.

Go back to your cheese, little thin lab-coat wearing person.

Meh. Squeky-clean good guys rarely have access to or knowledge of shenanigans. Informants by nature are shady.

On the other hand, if his info is good, he's a rat and because of that, he won't have an easy time on the inside.

Nor should he.

My senior year of high school we played a game where we were outshot 33-4 from the line. Yes 33-4. Just saying.

Spidey44 06-11-08 07:40 PM

I just read an article talking about all this... Donaghy officiated a game in which the free throws were 47 for the Lakers and 6 for the Knicks. 41 shot difference???

Box score:

Game 12 of the season? Against a dogshit NYK team?

This happens at all levels and citing examples like this is like saying, OMG, pokar is rigged, full house over full house twice in the last 20 hands, asdfaklsdjfkajsdfkjasdklfjasdf!!!!!!!

Sample size too small.

Spidey44 06-11-08 08:01 PM

I've got more...

Spidey44 06-11-08 08:03 PM

54-16 in the Knicks favor... OT game.

Spidey44 06-11-08 08:04 PM

And also the guy admitted his guilt. I was simply pointing out his jackassed-ness. I hadn't read into the situation that closely until now. Sure it's a small sampling, but I'm also sure he didn't have action on every game he worked.

I officiate college football. We have to turn in reports to the NCAA after every game containing every foul we call and who called it. It wouldn't take long for someone to notice such one sided-ness
