My First Foray into 8 Tabling

1 Attachment(s)
So tonite I decided to go a little nuts. Im all about the 4 tabling and rarely have less tables open, but I always thought this was the most I could do without pulling something in my mouse finger.

I fired up party and started working on their latest bonus. With 4 tables of PL25 O8 open, I got to work. Opened up Multipoker for their bonus as well, and fired up 4 tables there. After some confusion (trying to log onto the same table on both sites accidentally a couple times) I finally got all 8 tables up and running.

Let me just say WOW. This is nuts! but I LIKE IT. I seriously have found my new way to play. I was getting bored by the extremely slow pace of full ring O8, but hated the variance of 6max (not to mention having to pay attention for tables breaks all the time). So this is my new happy medium. Having 8 hands to play at once lets me fold all the hands I would normally play mostly from frustration, and lets me focus on that AA24ds that just popped up over here. No more playing marginal 19-20 point count hands, just to see.

So I think I will continue the 8 tabling while I work off the rest of the party bonus, and see how I come out in the end. I've attached a screencap so everyone can see my table placement. Is this a good layout? Any recommendations? I would love to hear what other people think about 8 and even more tabling (I have no idea how that punk Justion does 12! jeez, :D )

i think that when people 8 table or more they do it by using two or more monitors. the way you have it set up there seems kind of tough for the multipoker tables, as they can get covered by the party table pretty easily if all 4 party tables come up with hands in succession.

i have seen pictures of setups that have 4 flatscreen monitors next to each other in order to 16 table, but that seems a bit extreme.

8 tabling like that seems pretty nuts, but if it is profitable and helps you avoid tilt, then definitely go for it.

First - let me just say I'm impressed.

What resolution is your monitor set to? I recently bought two new 19" monitors, and LOVE having the extra space. I'm seriously considering going to 3 though, ad I have no problem filling up 2 screens quickly (not just with poker, of course).

Take a pic and post it.

Now THAT was funny!

Ok... here ya go:

I change the setup all the time, but for this shot, you'll see the forum on the right with a movie playing in the corner, and two Party windows on the left (so you can see how much overlap there is when I have them on the same monitor.

Like my mousepad??? :D

MAYHEM45 10-06-05 02:26 AM

That is a solid setup man.

Yeah I was impressed with myself too, :D . I run a resolution of 1600x1200 on my laptop. This allows 4 party or stars tables without any overlap at all. I figured my setup would be the best, as you can always see at least one bottom right corner of the party window, and when it is your turn to act on any of the windows it tells you which window to go to in that corner.

And yes it was very profitable tonite. 60 dollars in profit over 700 hands played. Nothing special, but im just a lowly bonus whore. :o

BlibbityBlabbity 10-06-05 07:37 AM

TP, I thought your new monitors were 1200x1600 capable? That would make 8-tabling easy. One thing I don't like about the overlap is that you can't see the other players action. So, all of a sudden you are in a hand and you are being raised and don't know that he has raised the flop on the last 10 hands straight and then folded to a raise...

I didn't know Dreamworks made porn movies.....

Nice mousepad :)

Talking Poker 10-06-05 12:22 PM

1280x1024 seems to be as high as my monitor (video card?) will allow. I'm not worried about the overlap though. PT and GameTime+ (well, PokerAce HUD recently) are all I need to know who has been raising every pot at a glance...

PShabi 10-06-05 01:18 PM

Give me some pros and cons about this poker ace HUd please.

MAYHEM45 10-06-05 02:07 PM

Pokerace hud is also what I use. You can sort of see it in my pic.
Pros: FREE, every stat you could ever want from PT, works on almost all the sites, not just party, automatically recognizes tables, unlike GT+

Cons: none that I can think of at the moment.

eddo31 10-06-05 02:28 PM

TP, i'm also a bit surprised that you dont have 1600x1200 resolution. that must make it tough when playign as many of the 6 max tables as you do.

my laptop screen only goes to 1280x1040, so the only time i play more than 2 tables is when i am on UB and I can use the miniview. that is a godsend when you have a crappy screen.

Talking Poker 10-06-05 04:00 PM

Actually, it was never really a problem for me when I was using just one monitor, and since I've changed to two, it's definitely not a problem.

Talking Poker 10-06-05 04:04 PM

Comparing to GT+ only....

Pros:
-It recognizes the tables automatically
-Better placement of stats (you put them where you want them and they stay there forever)
-More stats to choose from
-It automatically shows mucked cards at all showdowns.

Cons: None.

MAYHEM45 10-06-05 05:15 PM

Yeah the mucked cards feature is key. I love that! No more digging through the instant hand histories to see what the fish called to the river with.

JDMcNugent7 10-06-05 05:16 PM

I just downloaded it. I really dont understand it yet but I guess I'll figure it out.

Are you ever going to sign up for the TPFHUC2? You know you want to!

PShabi 10-06-05 08:18 PM

I used playerview first, before it cost $$$$$. Now I use GT+.

It sounds like PokerAce is pretty much free Playerview, right?

Gonna get it.

PShabi 10-06-05 08:20 PM

Yeah no shit.

I'd be looking forward to a grudge match. ;)

PShabi 10-06-05 10:59 PM

Okay, so I downloaded Poker Ace.

Never playing again without it.

Mucked hand feature is the best. Next to the price.

Talking Poker 10-06-05 11:02 PM

I thought you'd like it.

jillaj 10-06-05 11:18 PM

Where can one download pokerace from?

PShabi 10-06-05 11:23 PM
