pop up ads

Is anyone else getting a bunch of pop up ads running this site? Ive been getting tons about noble poker and some other sites Ive never heard of.

omahilo 11-20-04 07:45 PM

think I figured it out.

I had something on my harddrive called 180assistant... it said it was on my PC because I downloaded something they sponsored... has anyone ever had this on their PC before?

most likely you have adware on your computer that is doing some combination of hijacking your search functions and shooting you pop-ups of sites its creators have designated (or worse, but it is best to think positively :) ). That 180solutions thing IS adware, i believe.

Program called Ad-aware SE will search out most of it. The personal version is free. Here's a link you their site. I would suggest that everyone have some adware/spyware software that they run frequently. Adware/spyware can be just as annoying/dangerous to your computer and your personal information as a virus.

Also note:
If you do have adware on your computer it may have been implanted through a virus which will reinstall the adware after it is removed. So, also make sure to update and run your virus software in the process. Both the antivirus and antispyware programs have options to give you more detailed info about the particular files they find and what other steps you should taketo get rid of them once and for all.

All of this is unfortunatly was learned from recent experiences with a variety of adware/viruses/spyware :(

You've figured this out by now, but there are no popups coming from this site, and there NEVER will be.

Yeah, I am still trying to fully get rid of this crap....1/2 the websites I go to I get some random popups. AHHHHHHH

Thanks TP, for not adding to them :)

Google not sufficient

I tend to be pretty paranoid about this stuff, as in addition to poker I do my banking online. Obviously TP.com isn’t going to hit you with any malicious adware/spyware. Other sites can’t be necessarily trusted to the same degree. I have a McAfree firewall up at all times, and periodically run Ad-Aware, and suggest everyone do the same.

I have google ad blocker and it didnt block these ads which bugged me and it seemed they always came when I was at this site and they were about poker, which bugged me more. Ive run adware protection stuff in the past, looks like I'll need to again. I found that once I deleted that 1800solutions from my PC everything went back to normal, which is good.
