Web browsing while playing

I tend to play multiple tables *and* browse the web at the same time. Who knows WTF I'm browsing (varies from news to porn  ) but the question is:

Think this takes away from your play? Do you other folks browse while you play?

I'm running an extended desktop off my laptop onto another monitor so I usually have one game on one and another on the monitor so I can have them both up, but I'm just wondering if I should be on the game and not on the web.

If you're distracted by anything, then you have to be taking away from your game at least a little.

But, I browse all of the time. If you've ever played 6-max, you'd know the game moves at a "breakneck" pace. Sometimes, I'll find myself 3-tabling 5/10, talking on AIM to Lou, and browsing TP at the same time.

It definitely takes away from the game, but when you're grinding out 10k hands / month or more as a part-time rec player, then you have to make some concessions to help you stay sane I guess.

Huh what? I'm sorry - I was looking out my office window wondering why the f*ck people buy the Scion.

What were you saying? :D

BrianSwa 01-03-06 11:02 AM

so how many hands do you have?

studiopet 01-03-06 11:19 AM

I usually have 2 hands going at once but sometimes I just can't concentrate that good and have to go with only one hand. My big hits usually come when I'm running two hands and I really see a massive payout. I can share the wealth of the payout if your interested next time. Maybe back ya or something. :D Hit me on messenger or PM me and I'll let you know wether I'm single handed or multiple handed.

studiopet 01-03-06 11:26 AM

BrianSwa 01-03-06 11:31 AM

I browse all the time while playing one or two tables. If I try to play more tables than that there's no way I'm browsing. I don't see how some of you guys can play 5 or 6 tables, browse, chat on IM, walk the dog, and bake a cake all at the same time. I have trouble keeping up with 3 tabling.

I miss too much information on the other players if I try to do a bunch of shit while playing/mulit tabling. How do you guys (JD, TP, Mayhem, Slim Shabi, and more...) do it? Do you just play ABC poker or what?

studiopet 01-03-06 01:10 PM

Ditto on that. I was watching JD, TP and Chip play mutiple tables one night and i could barely watch that many tables let alone play em.

PShabi 01-03-06 03:23 PM

I use PokerTracker and PokerAce to help with reads during the game. However, I don't think I'd want to play more than 2 tables of NLHE. Limit is much easier to multitable.

BrianSwa 01-03-06 03:39 PM

hey

is pokerace any good?

Talking Poker 01-03-06 04:48 PM

Now, Brian.... I know you know enough to do a search. We have a few threads floating around here, singing it's praises.

BrianSwa 01-03-06 06:06 PM

yep

did search and most about pokerace is like 3 posts, might be missing some thread somewere. Of course tons on pokertracker, but not much on pokerace, shabi did a whole thread on it but only 3 replies in there and most just said havent tried it.

im probobly missing it though I will research.

It's worth it if you play a lot of tables, use it for table selections, or are just lazy(this was my reason), otherwise use Gametime +.
