SnG's

Hi all, I'm first time poster :) looking for some feedback on a couple of issues. I've been mainly playing lowlimit ( $10 + 1 ) SnG's for the last few months.

1) Could people tell me what a good return is for SnG's? And as a related issue, what a 'significant' sample size would be in order to draw conclusions from this.

2)I've played on a couple of online poker sites and was wondering if people would give me their opinions on which ones are best for SnG action and why.

Thanks

Welcome to the board - you're in for a treat.

1. For me, it depends on how well I'm playing. If I'm playing sharp, then I automatically expect to place in each SnG. I can't say that this always happens, but I do really well, especially at the $10, $20 buyins. There's a lot on RGP about this question, and for a better answer, I'd say do a search on Google or RecPoker.com. As far as "sample size" I think 50-100 would be sufficient at each buy-in limit. You should get a good analysis of how you're playing - and, more importantly, whether or not you should continue to play them!

2. I said it before and I'll say it again, Party is the best for SnG action. Wide selection of limits and games, and it's the fishiest site in the poker world. I'll save you my affiliate link. Just go sign up.

Thanks Aequitas, I'm already on Party and have a sample size of 130+ and am showing a return of 20%. I was just wondering how that stacked up. I'd tried doing a search on 2+2 but there was just too much irrelevancies to trawl through. ( plus of course I have to get that post count up :) )

And thanks for the welcome.

Party is the best because they have tons of fishes in the SNGs but the blind structure sucks so bad. The stars SNGs are nice for blind structure but I find them to be so tight... They protect their $10 like its gold! I like the loose ones myself. If you like the grind, I would go with stars since the blind structure doesnt make it a crapshoot at the end.

Yea, I hate the way Party can turn into a crapshoot really quickly. The starting stacks dont really give you much room to maneuver and thats why i was thinking of moving back to Stars.

Does anyone have any other comments on the other sites?

I prefer stars to party. It is a crap shoot on what kind of table you will get. Some are tight some aren't. I find the weekends to be really easy at stars for the sng's.

party sucks too because if you bet like 4x BB you are committing over 1/8 of your stack before the flop which sucks because if you completely miss the flop you could be dead before you know it. Stars gives you 1,500 to start and favorable blind structure.
