Now that's just funny....

First hand of a SNG. Obviously I didn't have any reads on anyone, but I was pretty sure I was ahead. Note my big bet preflop (knowing I'd get action), and my larger than pot sized bet on the flop. I wanted it to be a big mistake for any flush draw to call.

Yeah, that worked out great.

Nice!

After this hand I'm sure he thought he was the next Chris Moneymaker.

Did you hang around to see who ended up with your chips?

Talking Poker 08-08-05 03:26 PM

Nope.... I figured one hand was enough and moved on.

Penguinfan 08-08-05 03:59 PM

I can't tell you people enough, and quite honestly it is starting to piss me off:

1. People, with a gun to their head, will not lay down a flush draw for any price.

2. A flush draw has never missed in the history of PokerStars and that will never change.

Seriously, I guess a flop with two of the suit in question will get the flush there like one in four times. There is no way in hell you will get me to believe they don't hit more often than that at Poker Stars. Save any argument as it will be a waste of time.

Keep these two rules in mind and your PokerStars game will improve, trust me on this.

PShabi 08-08-05 09:49 PM

In regards to #2:

It should be changed to: The hand that is behind going to the river will not lose and that will never change.

Seriously, I play a lot (too much) of poker and I'm not screaming "rigged" or anything, but let's just say I see where "River Stars" came from.

kkirk1329 08-08-05 10:15 PM

Everyone says they get the worst beats on Stars and Party poker, i rarely get bad beats on these sites, not saying i dont get them of course, but i experienced WAY worse on full tilt poker.

omahilo 08-09-05 11:04 PM

TP, what was the buyin for that SNG? just wondering by that horrible play, etc.

Talking Poker 08-09-05 11:40 PM

$100+9. First hand.

Zybomb 08-09-05 11:49 PM

WOW........ that is crazy -- I usually find that when you get past the 30+3's those kind of players are rarely ever found

Talking Poker 08-10-05 12:24 AM

You should railbird me more. I find these guys EVERYWHERE.

lightfungus 08-10-05 12:40 AM

Wow, wasnt expecting that buyin amount. So, from the data collected in my experience and from what TP has just intoned(sounded right but dont even know if its a word or if im using it correctly) to us I am ready to state my hypothesis:

STAY THE ______ AWAY FROM THE FIRST HAND IN A SnG (period)

Talking Poker 08-10-05 12:46 AM

No way. Look at how easy it is (in theory) to double up. Sure, sometimes this happens, but when it does, just fire up another one... or do like I did: laugh and go do something else.

ChipFish 08-10-05 01:39 AM

Rigged! It's Rigged I tell you!

GeoffM 08-10-05 09:11 AM

I don't want to get into it with River Stars LMAO. It's true, it's damn true. The only site I have ever lost money on clearing a bonus. The PL games are so weak, but I always seem to get 2-outered on the river.

lightfungus 08-10-05 07:09 PM

The thing is when I sit down at a SnG I plan on winning something and I find I have a better chance of winning without throwing my chips in like that. I play the grind poker in those and it usually works out. Granted I dont play limits like that sooo could be a different story.

Talking Poker 08-10-05 07:15 PM

I completely agree. But I am more than willing to get all my chips in with AA on the first hand, even if I think someone has a reasonable draw or maybe even if I tihnk there's a small chance I'm already nehind (post-flop, obviously). Then you either double up, giving you a huge advantage over the rest of the field, or you bust out and can fire up another one...
