NHL Live Draft Pool

To go with Geoff's NFL survivor pool might as well see if there's any interest in an NHL pool....
I'll run it if you want, or whomever else wants to run it...
Yahoo has a free one.

Any interest?
$20 seems good.
Maybe take $10 of that and pay out the Regular season, and say the top 30-40% of entries get to participate in a Playoff Pool for the remainder?

I'm game. :D

Ok, well yahoo is accepting leagues now, so Chip could you post a sticky or something and maybe we'll have this draft on a weeknight or Sunday or something like that?

We'll do a straight draft, none of these stupid hybrids. It goes 1 thru 9, 9 back to 1, and so on. To make things fair, we should have an even number of players per team, since if there is an odd number the 9th guys would have the dis-advantage of losing one of the swing picks. Either a rotisserie or a points draft. I for one prefer the straight points only draft but we'll leave that up to all you guys.

I, for one, would like to see a live draft take place next Sunday night around 9pm ET. That would be Sunday September 4th if that works for everyone. Chip, if this works with you, we'll discuss Saturday over a cold Blue and one of us can set up the draft and start accepting email addresses via PM.

The rotisserie system, if we go this route, IMO should include goals, assists, points, +/- for players, and wins, goals-against-average, shutouts, and maybe save-precentage for goalies?

If we go points, I recommend using points for players (at 1 each, goal or assist), and for goalies wins=1 and shutouts=3. This is the format I have commonly used and the top goalies usually get about as much points as the top scorers in the league.

Chip, it would be nice to get the entrants in as soon as possible so we can figure out roster sizes. Of course, us Canadian boys could technically draft all day since all we do is drink beer and watch hockey, but I don't think it would be as fair if we had to select say a roster of 20 players and we have 12 guys in the pool. There comes a point where you are desperate for a defenseman and end up taking Aki Berg.

Chip, I'll wait for your reply but it would be nice to get this ball rolling since we may be looking at having to get 12 of us together for this draft, and we all know that just isn't going to happen.
