Anyone get the DirecTV NFL package?

I've never purchased it. I usually just go to Buffalo Wild Wings and eat/drink there, but that ends up being more than the cost of the package.

Anyway, I made this thread because of an interesting thing I just read over on the Chicago Bears forum. Apparently, you can get crazy hookups from them by just calling and asking.

Many, many subscribers got the "Superfan" upgrade for free. A majority of them also got a $10 monthly credit for 6 months. Someone else got the Superfan package and a $10 monthly credit for a year.

Some very good deals to be had. If anyone really wants, I'll post a link, but it seems to revolve around just asking. If you haven't ordered yet, your play should be to ask for any promotions first. See what you can get. Maybe point to the fact that new customers are getting great deals while loyal customers like you are paying full price. Then go with this:

1) "Wait...What? I don't get the NFL package in HD? I already pay $10/month for HD and you want me to pay more? Seems ridic, imo." Then they hook up the HD super fan.

2) After that you show minor disappointment and claim you are still unsure if it's worth it when you can just hit the sports bar down the street. Then they usually credit you.

If this doesn't work (it will), cancel the order. If they don't bit on cancellation, wait an hour and call back. You'll get someone else who will take the bait.

I'm still debating if I'm going to get the package, cause the Bears are gonna be dogshit this year. If I do, I'll be playing my hand this way and I'll post a TR.

Ive had the package several times, usually as a 'new' customer, because I move more than a gypsy. Being a Pats fan its a must (although we now get alot of national coverage obv).
The absolute best thing, is the last few minutes of the early games. there are always two or three games coming down to the wire, while the national game is usually a blowout.
Definately worth it imo.

GO PATS

im a big titans fan and we usually play the early game so i have no trouble picking up the full titans game. i do like the cowboys as well and i dont always pick them up so direct would be a good option

off topic here but does anyone know a site were u can watch old college and pro games for free?

TP, a friend of mine cancelled DirecTv because he said he only had it for the Sunday Ticket. So what did Directv do? They let him have JUST the Sunday Ticket.

I doubt they'd bring on a new customer like that though, or else I think a LOT of people would have JUST the Sunday ticket.

Ah...I was thinking you had Directv already... When I did get the ticket I found that almost every game had a commercial at the same time and a lot of times we went elsewhere for the game. Really not worth it to me anymore. Not to mention I have Verizon Fios now...

So, FYI.... it probably took me a good 90 minutes, but guess who is getting DirectTV, the NFL Sunday Ticket, and basically the whole works next week???

Woohooo!!!

Long story short, I was playing around with it online. Was interested, but didn't want to pay the tons of set up fees they wanted for the additional boxes.

Called and talked to a girl. She found some special new customer promos... it all sounded great. Placed the order, hung up, and logged into my account, and saw that she was basically either a filthy liar or just stupid and entered everything wrong. She had my name spelled wrong, my address wrong, and the order was WAY wrong - Standard boxes instead of HD DVR + HD, etc...

So I called back and explained to a new girl. Not only did she fix everything and get me what I wanted, but it's like WAY cheaper too. She found a $10 per month discount for 12 months and waived all the startup costs and everything. The last girl claimed she was waiving them, but there was still $20 in there.

So now I'm looking at $80 a month for 4 months, including the top package, the NFL Sunday Ticket, insurance (hurricanes can't be good for satellite dishes), 2 HD boxes (1 DVR), etc. She added in some $10 per month discount for a year too. After 4 months, the price goes up, but I'm allowed to switch to a smaller package, which I will.

Good stuff.

Goooooooooooooo football!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's a string raise, you gotta take it back. Although, nevermind, she can stay.

Just as an update on this.... watching 8 games on my tv at once this past Sunday was the absolute nuts. I don't foresee me leaving the house much on Sundays for a few months.
