From The Onion
|
cant believe anyone would talk like that before the big game, sounding pretty much like they are just happy to be there
|
LOL.... tell me you're serious.
|
Clearly he's unfamilar with The Onion. :D :donkey
|
Me thinks that's not the only thing he's unfamiliar with.
|
I wonder what the response would've been had I posted something in the other off topic forum from this site:
  at the risk of hijacking my own thread. |
Welcome to the forum skippy - we usually aren't this harsh with new people...
FYI - the onion is satirical in nature. None of those quotes are actually real. |

Oh, and...
|
i have heard of the onion before, but never read it or known what it was about. i cant beleive they dont get sued over stuff like that, or do they?
|
You cannot sue over satire. Neither can you invoke copyright law over parody. Its a form of speech protected by the 1st Amendment.
Most people do not undertsand that to successfully sue for libel, you must prove both material harm and malicious intent. Satire does neither. |
"i cant beleive they dont get sued over stuff like that, or do they?"
Ain't that the truth? I mean...damn...SNL has only been around for 30 years and they've been lawsuit free the entire time! |
I enjoyed a previous Onion article about the Canada-Mexico overpass connecting Guadaloupe and Winnipeg. U.S. residence expressed some concerns.
Favourite column: Ask the "High School student that didn't do the required reading" |
not really the same...SNL you can see that its not really the person being portrayed, but like this article , not knowing it was satire, there really is no way to tell unless its printed somewhere
