Chris Ferguson on Bankroll Management...
You probably heard how Chris Ferguson once turned $1 into $20,000 playing online. You may have also heard how last year, he decided to try to turn $0 into $10,000. Well, here is an update on his progress:
I guess he's still working at it. I think the most important part of that article, fpr all of us, but especially for the people with smaller bankrolls is the bankroll management "rules" he uses when playing: That's pretty good advice. Follow it, and it will be extremely difficult for you to go broke. |
Good Advice.
Thanks for posting that article TP.
Definitely a rule I have been violating by playing the 25 Max NL tables lately, but I see the logic. Although I have not been hit hard by any wild swings in the last month, I can see those winds blowing all around me. Recent advice that TP and others gave me about not going into a NL cash game with anything less than the max buy-in kept me from going bust a few nights a go. I was able to more than double up on a single hand about an hour in. 15 minutes later I took a nasty beat that brought me back down to around my initial buy-in. Had I gone in with $10 at the start(:donkey ), I would not have had the cushioning to absorb the later beat. I feel really comfortable with the level of play at 25 Max, but I am definitely going to check out the .05 / .10 game this weekend. I know I am emotionally prepared for one of those wild downward swings that will come in NL, but my bankroll is not as "mature" as I am.;) TP's post entitled "Bitches..." under Beats and Brags is a good companion post for illustrating how things can go south FAST! |
I think I will try that!
Hmmmmm...
I don't know how good it will go, but I think I will give this idea a try. I have been playing exclusively on PS so far. It would be interesting to see if I could build up any kind of money account. I have never really tried freerolls. but.. If I get my "money for nothing" do I get "chicks for free" too? :twocents: :twocents: :twocents: :twocents: :twocents: :twocents: :twocents: :twocents: :twocents: :twocents: :twocents: :twocents: :twocents: :twocents: :twocents: If you get that reference, you are probably at least my age! LOL |
cant beleive he has the dscipline to bother with this.
|
well
you did it didnt you? turned $0 into $100k in about a year was it? |
ya but i was broke, not a multimillionare.
|
yep
but thats his point in doing it, to prove it can be done for all the hopefulls out there. Plus I bet people play back at him alot more then they would against a normal person. You know like they say I outplayed Chris Fuergeson or I bad beated a pro sort of thing. So I think he gets paid off alot more then normal person. |
I know this is crazy but I'm going to try this like Chris is. I'll keep the money I got on PS for private tourneys for forum events but I'm really going to give this a try. Wish me luck :c: :d: :h: :s:
