Flop comes all diamonds and its checked around

Turn is a black king

River is a diamond

Checked around and a guy shows a pair of kings, no one else does anything for a second although no one mucks either

The dealer then actually says out loud: "Does anyone have a diamond?"

No one even flinches or acts like anything wrong just happened except me and im like ?!?! uhh "What are u doing?"

I told her to call the floor...they come and after hearing what happens say to her "you really shouldn't do that" and then leave

Is this fair, or am I out of line thinking she should have been pulled from the shift?

That doesn't surprise me. Here's my feelings on it:

1) She's obviously in the wrong and needs to be corrected. Not up for debate.

2) I hope you were in the hand if you called the floor over like that. If you were, I don't see anything wrong with calling for the floor. If you were not in the hand, you are still within right to do exactly what you did. I MIGHT have been more discreet. Wait til the hand is completed, I guess. If I'm grumpy, I would probably just do what you did, so whatever.

3) If she was corrected by her supervisor, which she was, then that's enough for me. I don't think she needed to be pulled.

agree totally with pshabi. corrected was enough, pulled is too much i think.

Clarification that when the floor said "you really shouldn't do that" it wasn't "you REALLY shouldn't do that" (as in that is very very bad) it was "you really shouldn't do that" (as in well, thats probably not the best thing to say....ok see ya)

My take
 

A) Guy with Kings definitely has every right to be pissed/withhold tips indefinitely. Calling the floor seems appropriate. If after the dealers comment someone with a diamond exposes their hand, I'd still expect them to get the pot.

B) At the local cardrooms I play at here in WA, it is unlikely that this would get the dealer pulled. But that's strictly low stakes. Higher stakes at top caliber room in Vegas, I would expect she'd get the hook.

Of course, at the higher stakes, it is a lot less likely players would need to be asked if they had a flush. :cool:

I'd venture to guess that they wouldn't pull her at FW, but like you, I'd complain if she wasn't.

i am surprised that a casino dealer would act the way she did. i really think its wrong to ask if anyone has a diamond... i mean, she could have asked the players to flip their cards over instead. if that happened to me at my table, i would call for the floor too. i dont think you did anything wrong.

I'm guessing you don't play live very much. ;)

heh.. well you are right. the nearest 18 and over casino is 90 miles from where i live so its a hassle going there. but ive been there many times and i have not seen a dealer act that way.
