Vonage...

This is kinda spam and it's kinda not... but I'll put it in the SPAM section just in case - wouldn't want to get myself in trouble :p

Do any of you use ? If you do, is it not the single greatest thing ever? I LOVE it! If you don't know what is, here's the deal:

is a voice over IP phone company (phone service through your cable modem), and they kick ass. They have over 300,000 happy customers already, including me. Business is so good, they actually REDUCED their rates for everyone last month. For just $25 a month, I get unlimited local and long distance calling to anywhere in the U.S. and Canada. And their international rates are a joke - meaning like 3 to 6 cents for pretty much anywhere in the world. No kidding - see for yourself.

The $25 includes everything and gets you all the features you can think of. My favorite feature is probably the voicemail. I travel a lot, and it actually emails me my voicemail (actual audio files). How cool is that?

I'm a very satisfied customer and could go on and on, but I won't. Check out their site, and feel free to ask me any questions you have. Set up was simple, and yes, I got to keep my phone number. Basically, if you are paying more than $25 a month for phone service, you need to check this out. Sign up through my affiliate link and they'll even give you a free month of service:

If you make the switch, you'll thank me someday. I guarantee it.

My friend didn't like it.

My friend tried to get me to sign up - I didn't.

Then, 3 months later, he cancels his account. He said the service was shitty and the clarity sucked. Well thanks for trying to get me to sign up, ass. This was about a year ago... hopefully they have upgraded their service.

I have something similar to that in Canada.

My girlfriend lives in Toronto, I have moved to the burbs and a long distance call now. I was paying about $40 a month. Went to callzone.ca, now I pay $20 a year :D.

The big losers in all this is the big phone companies, but who cares.

I can honestly tell you, the clarity is the exact same as my old phone line, and their service has been superb. I've only had to call them once - the initial box they sent me was defective - but they are available 24/7. They sent me a new box at no charge and a return label for the old one.

I have had exactly one "problem," and that was when my router was on the fritz... not their fault. Bought a new router, and everything worked like a champ again. Conversly, after Hurricane Frances, I was the only one in the neighborhood with phone service for 4 days, because cable was restored faster than the phone lines.

Liked Vonage, But....

Unfortunately, I was at the mercy of my cable provider - went through a period of days where cable was out the majority of the time. I know it would be an awesome deal if I could count on my broadband service (cancelled after two months).

Is this still in effect? I am definately switching to vonage next month and was seeing if you could still get something out of this deal? as well as me

Yep. You get one free month (your second month of service). And yeah, I get a one month credit too :)

Vonage rules!

Do you have to have cable tv service? I have Directv, and use Verizon right now.

Talking Poker 02-05-05 01:45 AM

If you have high speed internet access, I think you're good to go. Shouldn't matter what tv service you have.
