Charity Poker Rooms

Has anyone ever played in these? I guess they can pull of running these things by donating a portion of their profits to charities? I mean they are adding roulette and they already have table games...

I have basically been scrounging around my new location looking for a place to play that wasn't 2-3 hours away (Foxwoods) where I could play decent stakes. Unfortunately, I have yet to wiggle my way into any home games but I might go check out due to sheer poker-withdrawal. They only have crappy tournaments at the moment but I at least want to check it out. Oh, and of course 1-2 Omaha on Sundays .

I played at some big bar in Lebanon NH once a Sunday probably 5 years ago. The structure was crap and the play was worse, some kind of charity tournament (SNG) that lasted 30 or 60 minutes and the person with the most won if no one had won outright. I think it was sponsored by a radio station if I remember correctly. After a couple of times there, it is mostly what convinced me to play online.

I know there are some sketchy poker rooms (if you can call them that) in Manch-Vegas.

edit to add- in case you aren't hip with local lingo, that is Manchester, NH.
