OT: just kidding, not ot

Nice site. Glad to see some sort of order. I could give a shit less about bush or kerry. Nice to concentrate on poker.

I missed the humor.

Talking Poker 10-15-04 12:07 AM

You just gave me an idea for an OT poll............

Penguinfan 10-15-04 01:27 PM

It seems every third post at RPG has OT in the title and ends up being about politics and it really pisses people off, thus the humor in the original post.

DMAUL 10-15-04 04:29 PM

hopefully this will be the only one...

Talking Poker 10-15-04 04:52 PM

People are welcome to make as many OT posts a they like here... just so long as they are in the OT forum where they belong. That way, the people who are only interested in Talking Poker will never have to see them!

sounds good.

RGP vs. 2+2 vs blogs

I've been really disappointed with RGP as of late -- I just can't find anything of value lately. Tons of spam and garbage posts. I do read quite a few blogs including Iggy and Card Speak. I also visit 2+2, but only as a lurker (maybe they should offer to pay for posts :)

What other sources do you guys check out?

Aequitas58 10-19-04 01:25 AM

Just RGP usually. Rarely do I check out 2+2...

To add about RGP: It has definitely been shitty recently. I think because of that whole "backer" thing, and especially b/c of the election, it's hard to find a poker-post.

Tone, did you used to play in Atlantic City? (Still do?)

2Tone 10-19-04 01:42 AM

Never played AC

I'm a West Coaster. Play the local Seattle 3/6 games once a week or so, and make it to Vegas as often as possible, about four times a year. Last Vegas trip was great. I made about $250 playing 2/6 at the Excalibur with people who were very unclear on the concept of straights and calling with "three pair". Too bad I gave it back in tourney entry fees and other ... distractions.

Online, I play the NL $25 Party game pretty often, plus a bunch of SNGs. I should play more low-limit there as well, but it is just such a zoo.

How are the AC games? I've heard they get pretty wild.

Aequitas58 10-19-04 03:15 AM

Too much of the Bunny Ranch? Ha. There was a special on HBO a few nights ago, which was a rebroadcast of something they aired a long time ago. It's funny the way those hookers wheel and deel.

Anyway, the reason I asked was because I remember playing with a "Tone" in Atlantic City a few years back.

The action in AC is great. Here's a hand I recall from my last trip, maybe 3-4 wks ago:
$1/2 NLE. I'm in LP w/ KK. MP player (very loose player) raises to $10. I make it $35 to go, and both the BB and MP player call. Flop comes 894, rainbow. BB bets $15, MP folds, I raise $118. Call.

"You probably have me beat," he says.
"Can you beat Kings?"
"No, but I have some outs," turning over Q9o.

Turn brings him a 9, and the river doesn't help me. What action, that's all I have to say. (Suffice it to say, the previous night I won $400, and the night after, another $220. Same game.)

After calling an $118 raise with Q9o:

LOL! Now that is humour!

I want to play in *that* game.
