threads in strat?

first off, nice looking strat sections and it seems like there are a few pretty decent players on this forum from reading the posts i have read so far

just wondering why in the non holdem forum 99% of the threads are locked and i cant add an opinion to them

Is this some sort of default loking that hapens with threads over a certain age?

anyway enough rambling ( my sugestion would be to not lock threads in strat) there will always be new members joining the forum who might have differwent views on hands that have been posted

Yeah, TP has it set that if there are no replies after 30 days the thread auto-locks. It prevents useless bumping. I see your point though about strat posts.

What I would recommend is create a new thread and put a link to the old thread in it.

gogzy 09-13-08 12:35 PM

makes sense

Yes, we have threads to set auto-lock after 30 days of inactivity. Without that, people can bump extremely old threads and it makes a mess of the forum.

I'm sure you know how that works from experience elsewhere, but imagine what would happen if someone bumped 10 or 20 old threads here in our forum with such low volume.

If you have something you really want to contribute about a specific hand, you can always PM me to unlock it for you, or even stat a new thread about the hand, linking to the old thread so people know what you are talking about.

Doing this for 50 hands wouldn't be cool, but for one or two, it's certainly reasonable.... especially in the non-Hold'Em section, since they get such little action as it is.

gogzy 09-13-08 12:37 PM

yeah totaly understandable

ty for your quick response

And yet some old threads seemed to get resurrected just a few days ago - I think all in the arcade thread.

gogzy 09-13-08 12:45 PM

 that was me lol

i bumped a few threads ( to be fair though i am new here and just found the arcade)

Robbie Robb 09-13-08 12:49 PM

yeah, i thought so. I just found it odd that you were actually able to. Unless the 30 day lock can be set individually for each sub-forum and it isn't on the arcade. meh, whatever. It triggered a Swingball tourney that I got pwned in.

gogzy 09-13-08 12:50 PM

ill get pwned in that when i reach the final against invig :(

Talking Poker 09-13-08 01:03 PM

Correct.

The Arcade is timeless, so those threads don't auto-lock. I kind of feel the same way about the Video section, but right now, I still have those set to lock. Thoughts?

MAYHEM45 09-13-08 02:56 PM

Def unlock the video section.

Robbie Robb 09-13-08 04:55 PM

Yeah, I would say unlock it. With this new influx of members they may venture in there and watch the videos or listen to the podcasts.

Invigilator 09-13-08 06:57 PM

I know that the non hold'em section is low volume, but would it be...

a) possible
b) worthwhile

to have sub forums for major forms such as stud, omaha, mixed, ugh...

I already see the problem. Too many forms and permutaitons.
