Lost Everything

Sorta.

My computer crashed yesterday and after Rob fiddled with it for a bit, he determined that my hard drive was dead. Completely. I've lost everything on the hard drive. Which means, I've lost my entire Poker Tracker database.

Boooooo......!

Well at least you live in Canada so you (probably) don't have to pay taxes on winnings anyway.

Backing up is vital though.

Couldn't agree more. I'm surprised RR let you NOT backup your stuff...

Sorry to hear the news though. Dead hard drives suck.

Definitely, we feel dumb we hadn't, well, not recently enough to really matter. Fortunately, as Storm guessed, I'm not worrying about documentation for taxes. Even if I was, the majority of my play this year (not counting cake since it's not PT compatible) was on Stars, and I'm sure if I email, stars, they'd be willing to send me the necessary HHs.

dvd burner - $35
50 high quality dvd's - $20
having a stack of dvd's storing your data when your pc dies - priceless.

(I'll be offline for the rest of the day while I back up my stuff...)

All of which we have... sigh

I even tried the ol' HDD in the freezer trick but this is one dead HDD.

We have some quicken information backed up on my laptop (which, incidentally, I just replaced today) but it's easily 6 months out of date.

When I saw the thread title, I immdiately thought.

Oh, please JD, tell me you didn't tilt it all away!!!!!:D:donkey:talktothehand

I did as well,

However I imagine he is getting wasted watching mizzou play OU. He could be on drunken tilt if mizzou loses though.

That always sucks. I have had it happen twice and it is pure pain.

Doesn't sound like there was anything on there REALLY critical, but if there was there are services out there that can actually get the info off of the surface of the disk (for a pretty good price, but if you HAVE to have it it might work for you).

Off to buy a stack of 50 high quality DVDs....
