april prop bet?

I have a real problem checking my account balance while playing to see if I am up or down. I don't like it and I want to stop, as I think it affects my play. I imagine so other folks have a similar problem (ahm Mayhem). Here is a fun solution for this problem. I propose to make a wager with one (or more?) degenerates here that every session we check the account balance while playing we pay the other $5. We can keep a running tally in this thread and at the end of April total it up and the loser pays the winner. I play around 30 sessions a month, so it would be most fair if it was someone who played a similar amount of sessions. Also, as written is it $5 per session, but if you talk me into it I'll take $5 each time we check during a session.

Only those that do this and think it is a problem and want to stop should take this bet, as it will motivate each of us not to do this. So if you are interested in taking this prop bet, reply to this thread and I'll check back tonight or tomorrow and pick someone if more than one are interested. Also, since it is going to be self-reported honor system, you got to be trustworthy.

Why do you think checking your balance is a problem? Does it affect your play?

Poker is a long term game, blah blah blah, but I don't see any harm in knowing how you are doing in a given session. I actually have my table total on my PAHud layout.

Great idea for a prop bet though (if this is an issue for you).

I didn't make fun of you for that whole hand washing thing you freak, so lay off :p

I have my table totals on the table, but somehow adding it all up, esp into a session when several tables have been opened or closed, it just too much work. But I don't like to check because it messes with my head. When I sit and play I can zen it and it can be all one big session, even if running well or taking some hits, but when I look at my balance it becomes "I can't believe this is a losing session" and I would rather just avoid that.

Well, looky who's online at 11:02 PM but can't play in our cash game.

(That's for the hand washing comment)

I actually find that it sometimes effects my play as well during a session if I check my PT numbers to find out what I am up or down. If I was up $1k and am now down like $500 if can definitly be that nudge that moves me slightly into the tilt zone.

So no one ever took you up on this?

How has it been going? Still addicted to the Cashier window?

FWIW, I used to play with mine open all the time until I realized it was contributing to FT freezing up on me.
