Negreanu possibly quiting playing in the WSOP

Negreanu is pissed off!

Very interesting!

The Rio is really not handling a ton of things well, I kinda hope Daniel does go to the gaming comission over this and get them straightened out for next year, you know, when I finally win a seat to that damn game.

For the record, I am with Daniel all the way on this one, rediculous move by the Rio.

Talking Poker 07-17-06 12:28 PM

Absolutely. I can't even imagine what there were thinking with this one.

You can't just MAKE a standard event a shorthanded event! Maybe they should have changed it to Limit or to Stud or something while they were at it.

He'll get his money back and still be playing - I'm sure of that. But that doesn't make this goof up any better, and it should be reported to the Gaming Commission.

And in other news, a memo has surfaced on other poker forums stating that the organizers are planning a change to the ME. After precisely 17 minutes of play, it will be announced that they are changing the format to No Limit Crazy 8s.

And all the decks will be shuffled together, so that dealers are pulling from one gragantuan deck.

Is this true??? I'm glad I busted out of that satellite yesterday. Though it would be fun if it was Crazy Pineapple.

Robbie Robb 07-17-06 01:53 PM

Oooh....controversy

ANOTHER memo has been leaked that categorically denies that first memo. This one, instead, goes on to say that, because of the poor organization of this year's events which may have treated some players unfairly, such as scheduling Omaha events side-by-side with limit events (apparently a lot of the same players play both styles), they are going to change the ME from a No Limit event to a LIMIT event. That's right folks, 8,000 people will be playing a $10K buyin LIMIT event. It is anticipated that, due to this change, the ME final table will take place sometime around Sept 17th.

Which memo is right? Guess we'll find out in 11 days. (Unless they wait for Flight A to finish for the day before announcing the change)

Talking Poker 07-17-06 01:54 PM

I heard this too.

But when you get to the Final Table, the game of course changes to "Go Fish." Heads Up, I heard they are going to "War."

Robbie Robb 07-17-06 01:57 PM

When they announce the change TP, can you do us all a favour and jump up and scream and holler really loud and get thrown out like Demitriou? That way you'll at least get your name printed in some places. Of course, it won't be on CardPlayer or PokerWire as they are apparently pawns to the organizers and pulled the reports of the controversy.

Talking Poker 07-17-06 02:06 PM

Are you kidding me? Did they really? If that's true, that is just SAD. Nice "reporting."

Robbie Robb 07-17-06 02:18 PM

Someone posted a Cut 'N' Paste from CardPlayer apparently. It disappeared almost immediately after though. This was on 2+2. Needless to say, pretty much all the forums are buzzing about it.

Mike O'Malley also has his firsthand report on it too at his

Hey, I recognize that user name. If memory serves, way way way back when, circa early 2003, I was playing in a tourney on Poker Room and for whatever reason, he and I got into it. He was "giving lessons" and that sort of thing. He was going on and on about this and that and how great he was and so on. After I busted him, I went on to either win the tourney or have a nice Top 5 finish, something like that.

bdawg may actually recall this, as I remember us making fun of his "RZITUP" name.

Unless of course I'm thinking of someone else with an extremely similar screen name, but that seems pretty unlikely.

Talking Poker 07-17-06 03:16 PM

Since this entry won't be on his main page forever, I'm quoting it here. Well written, and a good explanation of what happened.
