Around the world....

Hey all...I'm back again. I was a regular poster for a couple years then was sent to Iraq for a while and dodged some mortars and rockets but came out okay. I've been traveling around the world the last year inspecting ships for the US Navy.

I try to get a poker game going wherever I go. I've been successful so far at attracting the player who watches waaaaaaay too much poker on ESPN. The guy I'm talking about is the one who goes all in with Ax and hits two pair, who calls my 3.5x raise with 34 suited, etc.

I was recently at the Borgata in Atlantic City and won $1300 at the $2/$5 table then lost $1800 the next night at the same table.

I'd like to think that I know the game. I've had a rude awakening in the last few months. I have been trying to play thru it but cannot seem to shake the bad players.

I'm happy to be back online and reading this forum again. Any advice is appreciated.

hey man, welcome back!

Screw poker for a minute, thank you for serving our country. I am truly happy to hear that you came home alive and well and I hope that all of our men and women serving overseas come home the same way.

Congrats on the score at the Borgata! Nice work. As for your shitty run, are you talking live or online? If online, bankroll management for the win (which the cool kids around here type as ftw). If live, I don't know, maybe violence?

1st- Welcome back, and a wholehearted THANKS!

2nd- Online poker has changed a bit in the last couple years. With congress passing the uigea or whatever its called; alot of the fish have gone away. Mostly because its much harder to re-deposit, which is the main reason they are fish in the first place.
There are still tons of bad players, but there are many more solid players, even at the lower levels.
Cash games seem to have been effected the most, lots of donks still love to play the tournaments................"just like they see on TV".

GL and welcome back to the forum

Welcome back here and home! Glad you are safe. Are you stationed down in Va Beach/Norfolk? A good friend of mine is a Navy doc down there.
