fuel for the fire

With the usc upset it just adds fuel to the fire for a college playoff system:D
So which do you put in championship game MI or fla with a win over ark?

omahilo 12-02-06 08:03 PM

As a buckeye fan... I dont really care who we play.

MAYHEM45 12-02-06 08:05 PM

Bring On The Rematch.

Reel Deal 12-02-06 11:02 PM

My personal opinion is Michigan is the better team and therefore should play OSU in the championship game.

Robbr25 12-02-06 11:05 PM

A rematch would be cool, but OSU already beat Michigan in a great offensive game.
So give Florida a chance.
Florida won their conference Michigan did not.

thrash1294 12-02-06 11:07 PM

I am a michigan fan but the sec is tougher and with the championship game I say Gators...leapfrog

The big ten and pac ten need championship games:twocents:

And I am a UM alumni

Reel Deal 12-02-06 11:23 PM

I-A Football needs a playoff... bad.

Dodoubled 12-03-06 07:09 PM

Gotta go with Florida. I personally think Michigan would beat the Gators by two touchdowns (and this is purely speculative and coming from a Big Ten homer; I, of course, have no evidence to back this up), but it would be categorically unfair to put Ohio State in a position of double jeopardy. In other words, why should OSU have to beat Michigan twice, where Michigan would only have to beat OSU once, to win a title?
You can argue whether Florida or Michigan is a better game all day long, but I simply believe you do a much, much bigger injustice to the game -- and system -- of college football if you allow Michigan to play in the national championship game.
Plus, Michigan didn't even win its conference title.

Dodoubled 12-03-06 07:26 PM

It's official. It's Florida.

Edit: I just want to point out that you guys got that breaking story before it was posted on any of the major sites. If anyone needs me, call 1-800-PULITZER and ask for my secretary.

MAYHEM45 12-03-06 07:30 PM

Ohio state was at home. Bring the Buckeyes to the Big House and things would have been different.

I think they should have gotten a rematch on the neutral field. Florida fucking sucks. Luckboxes.

Dodoubled 12-03-06 07:35 PM

Right. But that's the nature of the beast. And since the home team gets 3 points anyway in football point spreads, you could even call that whole matchup a virtual tossup, another USC-Texas.

Again, I'd much, much rather see a rematch. But I'm also about doing what's fair. And a rematch simply wouldn't be fair to OSU.

I hate to say it, but I think the national championship was already played -- a few weeks back.

Dodoubled 12-03-06 08:05 PM

TP, Zy or Robbie ...
Can you move this to sports?

Akverno 12-06-06 05:05 AM

I'm just wondering what happens if Boise wins? I think that would call for a playoff system pretty hard as well. A team stays undefeated all year and has no shot at the trophy. I know their strength of schedule was horrid, but they did beat one of the teams that beat USC.

omahilo 12-07-06 09:35 PM

lol Ohio State would of beat Michigan by 2 TDs+ if not for 3 2nd half turnovers, they were already winning by 14 when they had the 1st turnover. This game wouldnt of been even close if not for the turnovers. Also we own Michigan at Michigan or at Ohio State, doesnt matter where we play them.

Also if Boise wants a shot, we will play them after we roll Florida, it doesnt really matter.

thrash1294 12-07-06 11:13 PM

Yea...

Boise geets no props:cheers:

Dodoubled 12-08-06 12:49 AM

Whoa, Tiger. Reread what you wrote. OSU had three second-half turnovers because of bad decisions THEY made.
I hate woulda, shoulda, coulda second-guessing. I mean, if you want to play that game, then I'll say that Penn State would have had a chance against the Buckeyes, too, if Anthony Morelli didn't realize he sucks ass throughout much of the second half of that game.

Now, that sounds pretty stupid. And we all know that's not true. But that's the kind of bullshit second-guessing gets you.

I DO, however, think OSU wins in a rematch. But if the two teams play flawless football, I also think the score is a lot closer than two touchdowns.

omahilo 12-09-06 10:30 AM

I do agree if there are no turnovers on either side that perhaps the game could be closer but also the buckeyes could of easily rolled that game without those turnovers.

The INT came on a tip pass, that was no fault of Troy Smith. That thing could of hit the ground just as easily. The 2 fumbles came on bad snaps by Doug Datish, which he NEVER does. Those 2 fumbles were something that usually doesnt happen. All Im saying is that those 2 of those 3 turnovers were the buckeyes simply not getting the snap right, which wont happen again in a rematch or the title game.
