Robbie Robb's FTP Mods - Get 'Em Here!

Okay, since I'm planning on doing a few of these I figured, "Hey, why not create a thread dedicated to these mods and conversation around them?" instead of hijacking a FTP Update thread. Heh.

I've attached the ones from the other thread as well.

I am pleased to present Dark GradientsSP. This is the second mod previewed over in the other thread. This particular file, at the moment, does NOT have the lores version. When I get those done I'll upload a new version. It DOES, however, have the bright card backs that were requested, along with the TP logo back that I did before. It also does not have the suit pips at all. I'll release a new version with the pips in the next day or two (although the lores version may not have room for the pip).

One other feature this has is your choice of 'T' (default) or '10'. If you want '10' just rename the 10.svg file to something else (or delete it) and then name 10(1).svg to 10.svg.

I'm also uploading JUST the card backs as well as a separate file.

I mentioned it in the other thread so I'll mention it here as well: I'm not charging any money for these mods however donations are always welcome and would certainly go a long way to fulfilling special requests.

Thanks everyone and enjoy!

Card Backs

Robbie Robb 07-15-09 05:31 PM

Grr. Editor took old time/date stamp instead of new one. Enjoy folks!

melioris 07-15-09 06:14 PM

transfered another $5 cause these will be worth it, but there is a problem for me with the SP cards. Suits and colors are not matching up. Several suits look transparent, and sometimes multiple suits will come up black and when a player reveals his hand the cards are transparent but the big letter/number shows up.

melioris 07-15-09 06:15 PM

are the file sizes right?

Robbie Robb 07-15-09 06:46 PM

oh oh. that's not good. I'll take a look at it right now. I *think* I know what the problem is but I'll confirm. Obviously there'll be a new version shortly...my apologies.

Robbie Robb 07-15-09 07:16 PM

Okay, should be fixed. For some odd reason, Illustrator chose to save the gradient as a .PNG file for *some* of the cards. Not all, just some. The ones it did, I loaded up in Illustrator and it showed them fine at the time so I just shrugged my shoulders.

Since I finished up the cards just before I had to start cooking supper I also did the unforgivable - I zipped and uploaded WITHOUT actually testing them in Tilt. :o Rest assured, they have now been tested and appear to be working without issue.

Take a look and let me know what you think. If you see anything odd looking let me know. There's something I see that I'm not sure if I'm imagining it or not and I want to see if anyone else sees it because it shouldn't be there.

Corrected file is in the first post.

And thanks again for the donation!

TP - version with pips should be a day or so. Should hopefully be pumping out lores for both decks at that time as well.

melioris 07-15-09 07:41 PM

I haven't tested them yet, but i am sure they will be good and I'll confirm later on tonight. I did notice the backs of the cards being dark green for a millisecond or two as they were dealt no matter what color back I had selected. Is that what you saw?

Robbie Robb 07-15-09 07:58 PM

I didn't see anything wrong with the card backs. But I didn't test that. But the board cards, well, over half of them were transparent. So it was pretty much "What the fuck suit do I have???"

I'll look further into the card backs as well. May need to patch those.

Robbie Robb 07-15-09 08:08 PM

Okay, what I'm seeing - at the very top - as the deal starts is the files from the cardbacks_lores file. Apparently each card starts off smaller and then gets to it's regular size so it pulls from the lores file. The reverse is also true when folding/mucking, your cards shrink away and access the lores file. Because that's efficient...

When I get the lores backs done this should be a none issue.

Talking Poker 07-16-09 01:15 PM

One request.... can you post screen shots with each file? That way, people will be able to preview what they are downloading before they actually make a decision (without having to find the other thread, dig through it).

I kind of like the set up I have right now (save the 2:d:, which tilts me like mad), so I think I will hold off on these until you've got the kinks worked out and the lores done, etc.

Thanks for working on this. I'll spread the word a bit once these are 100% ready to go.

Robbie Robb 07-16-09 03:30 PM

No problem! Screenshots coming up!

Can you explain again the issue with the 2:d:? I just compared it against 2:c: and the '2' itself is exactly the same size. It's also the same size as the 3:d:. The only thing I can see with the diamonds is that the suit image is taller than the other three suits.

I'm going to completely re-do that deck, which I've since dubbed Cherry Buster. It's next up after I get Dark GradientsWP completed.

Dark GraidentsSP is now 100% functional with the link above.

Screenshots coming soon!

Talking Poker 07-16-09 08:55 PM

Can't wait to see them. I guess I could install and just overwrite them with the old ones if I don't like them.

As for the 2:d:, it's in the old deck you made with the lighter colors and the suits behind them. The 2 itself (the number) is smaller than any other number/letter on any other card.

I can screen shot for you if you want, but I figured your master file (which I apparently can't see with the software I currently have installed) would make it obv to you... no?

DarkGradientsSP doesn't do anything for me...? Maybe because of the table size I use or something? Maybe I need to wait for the full lores deck, or whatever the difference is that makes this file size much smaller than the old Cards.zip file?

Here is your 2:d: issue.

Robbie Robb 07-17-09 01:27 AM

Woah! No wonder that tilts the shit out of you. That's just messed up. I'm sure it's not like that in my deck but I'll double check.

As for the Dark GradientsSP, it's could be because you're using smaller tables. One thing you can do is check the new option in the...err...options: Use Standard Deck for all sizes. (or something along those lines) It will ignore the lores files and scale the standard down smaller. But it makes it all jaggy...Stupid renderer.

Edit: Actually, the more I look at that screenshot, the more fucked up it looks. The T:d: is smaller than the 5:d: but bigger than 2:d:. Weird shit. Off to check my files...

Okay, something strange is afoot. Check out this comparison I just did in Illustrator. I'm going to switch back to this deck in Tilt and see what happens.

(but you're right, the 2 IS about 1 pt smaller on the bottom... ;))

Oh, as for the file size, I think that has to do with the way that I saved the first deck compared to the second. The first was saved in SVG 1.1 or something whereas DGSP was saved as TinySVG 1.2

Robbie Robb 07-17-09 01:44 AM

FML. Mystery solved. It's the nf_lores/lores deck that's fucked up. I apparently did a bang-up job on that one...sigh. If you check that option I mention above, it should fix it. Haven't compared it to see what it looks like.

As I mentioned, I'm going to redo that entire deck. I've only done one deck since that one but I think that it's far better technically than this one that this one needs to be brought up to snuff. Probably be next week for it though. Poker Night and Annual BBQ at Casa del Rob this weekend so getting ready for that.

Fildy 07-17-09 01:49 AM

I'm having a similar problem with the 2:d: except my 2:d: is much larger than every other card.
I'll post a screeny after i finish this session.

Talking Poker 07-17-09 02:29 AM

Yeah, but it's only the 2:d: that makes me want to punch babies and shit.

Talking Poker 07-17-09 02:35 AM

I'm happy to switch to the new deck. But................. I tried today, and all I saw was the stupid FT cards still (after a fresh install, since FT refuses to let me "update" normally). This must have to do with table resizing or something.

If you complete the deck with all the lores files (I guess that is the problem?), I'll switch to it... at least for a while.

I have a feeling I won't like "jaggy," but I'll try your suggestion. Yeah, that's just gross. Bleh.

Fildy 07-17-09 03:00 AM

Are you by chance on Vista? I have found that on Vista I have to run full tilt in administrator mode in order to be able to update.

Robbie Robb 07-17-09 03:22 AM

One last post before I head off to bed.

Here's my roadmap for the next few days:
1. Finish Dark GradientsSP - all decks including lores and nf_lores (although those will both be the same since no one seems to know what the hell lores does and when it's used)
2. Dark GradientsWP - all versions
3. Remake and relaunch the first deck using the knowledge gained since last week.
4. To Be Determined but I have a couple ideas.

Dark GradientsSP is now totally complete. All lores and nf_lores files are included.

I have removed the bright/TP logo cardbacks as not everyone may like those by default. They are now offered as a separate download.
