I have a question about SNGs... I usually get down to the final 4 then it seems like I never place. what kind of style do u try playing once you get down to the final 4? Ive tried playing the aggressive style figuring some people would tighten up, didnt work. Then I tried playing a tighter style and play good hands. which style seems to work for you people that place alot in this situation?

For me, it all depends on my stack and my opponents. If I'm short stacked when we get to 4 players, I play tight and hope two of the others will clash and get me into the money. Then I pick a spot and try to double up. I won't play so tight that I let myself get blinded off though.

If I have a lot of chips when we get down to 4 players, I'm all about playing aggressively. Of course, when I say aggressive, I don't mean crazy. I will raise frequently preflop to try to pick up blinds and force the short stacks to start taking risks, but I'm not going to push all my chips in with a bad hand and double anyone else up.

Looks like we have two related threads going on SNGs, both with some good posts. I wrote in the other one how I think that as you get close to the money, it is great time to steal from smaller stacks, as they are naturally afraid of getting knocked out on the bubble.

For me single table vs. 3 table is really a matter of how much time I'm prepared to dedicate to earning a return on a $5 or $10 dollar buy-in. I haven't found the level of play (at least on Party) varies much between the two, so it become an issue if I'm prepared to sit down and play for 90 minutes or if I’m hoping for some quicker cash - I find the Party single table SNG's rarely take more than a half hour.

If you place in the money on Party SnG's, it will take, on average, at least 45min - pushing to an hour for a win.

It all comes down to sometimes you can wait for the others to bust each other out. You just have to pick a spot and
make a move.

they key to winning the SNG's at party is to let the idiots bust themselves out early... if they get lucky and get a big stack, just get really agressive on the flop when you flop anything.... mid pair, even.... they'll call with nothing.

That's been my experience as well. That's also why I find that the $5+1 SNGs can be a short as 30 minutes to win. $10+1 -- or a more conservative $5 table -- can run longer.
