men the master

i just cant keep this memory out of my head. AA vs 4 flush on flop. Men all in + amatuer calls = pro out. It kills me.

Talking Poker 10-23-04 11:28 AM

I moved this thread to the Poker on TV category, since it is clearly about... you know.... Poker on TV.

johnbaker 10-24-04 10:23 PM

junYUN 10-25-04 12:07 AM

men is one of my favs, but hey, it's all about the cards and it can happen to the best

omahilo 10-25-04 01:05 AM

then the loser who knocked him out has the nerve to say 'I guess I wont get his autograph now'

bigjohnstud2o 10-25-04 01:22 AM

lmao yea what a dick. He called on a draw and then had the balls to say that shit

jimmytheg 10-25-04 01:55 AM

He didn't say it to Men, said it afterwards. And I don't think he was trying to be a dick at all.

jimmytheg 10-25-04 01:56 AM

Men the cheat

Men will never get the slightest bit of sympathy from me. He was the biggest tournament cheat for years. Look it up on RGP, even Daniel called him out about it.

eddo31 10-26-04 12:52 AM

i didnt get the feeling that the guy who busted men with the heart draw was being disrespectful at all. i thought he just said it to be funny/ironic.

of course, that is a call that you will almost never see a pro make. they might push it in in that situation (like doyle did against lederer's set), but i doubt they would call off their chips in that situation.

jimmytheg 10-26-04 05:29 AM

by the way, that guy who made the call ended up making the money in the tourney

ChipFish 10-26-04 08:00 AM

Good for "that guy"... Who says he's not allowed to call a questionable hand against Mr. Men the Master?????
How many times in his career do you think Men has sucked out on someone?
Or made a very questionable call and won? Without knowing for sure, I am still confident that he has.

GeoffM 10-26-04 08:45 AM

Suck outs are a part of poker, it's called luck. Without them, the people that get the best hole cards would win every time, and there would be no such thing as skill involved in the game. It would be like playing a game with your family for pennies.

jimmytheg 10-26-04 09:00 AM

Exactly. Poker is a game that anyone can win on any given day, and that allure is what brings the masses to the game in the first place. Over time, the cream will rise to the top, but without the luck factor the number of new players and new money coming in would be almost nothing.

Suck outs are a part of the game, and a part that you must be able to deal with if you want to have any long term success.

GeoffM 10-26-04 09:08 AM

Yes, they do bring new players to the game, and with those new players comes their hard earned dollars, and with their hard earned dollars comes my supplemental income :D.

I can't begin to comprehend what goes through these fishies minds, depositing money, losing it, and then depositing, losing, when does it end for them?

I just love taking advantage of people's gambling addictions :p.

johnbaker 10-30-04 06:08 PM

ive never heard about this, can you post a link to daniel's post?

eddo31 10-30-04 09:33 PM

i dont have a link, but just do a google search in rgp for daniel men cheat

i think that russ g might have had somethingto do with it as well, but i am not certain about that

johnbaker 10-31-04 09:36 PM

wow im suprised after reading that.... the stuff men did is pretty childish and unprofessional, ive lost respect for him.

eddo31 11-01-04 07:38 AM

so i just saw that men won the seniors hold em event at foxwoods.

is that embarassing for a top pro to enter one of those events? it seems like it would be, at some level. although, i guess that money i smoney, and he would have a hugely +EV in that event.

Jackass_man 11-01-04 02:06 PM

men is a cheat , and that "guy" that busted him out also has some interesting things to say about it too. Do a google search, he also had a thing in cardplayer.

jdiana86 11-09-04 02:32 PM

It was great to see Men so scared even though he was a favorite. I liked explaining that one to my dad when he was asking why he looked so sad when the cards were turned over and the guy called.

Tilter 11-09-04 09:31 PM

I too would like to see the RGP post. I just heard the rumours about Chip Reese and Doyle being cheats as well.

eddo31 11-09-04 09:38 PM

essentially russ g cast a very wide net, and in doing so i am sure that he has actually implicated some cheats. i have no idea whatsoever if doyle, chip, men, etc are cheats, but the cynical side of me says that there is a pretty good chance that if you are a professional poker player, then you wouldnt be against gaining small (or enormous) edges wherever you can.

i think that russ g hurts his credibility by implicating every big time pro as a cheater, but i am sure that some of his accusations are right on.

if you want to find some interesting old posts on rgp, search for any posts by doyle, who posts as texas dolly. there is some pretty interesting stuff, with significant allegations flying back and forth, and apparently some challenges that were never met.

drewjax 12-06-04 03:07 AM

I have read the stuff by DN on Men, very interesting. And he suggested stuff about Doyle without being specific. I havent heard anything on chip. I can take like 10 min. of RGP at a time about once a week thats it. I'll look other places, because this stuff is fascinating to me. that they would have the balls to even try some of the cheating stuff. I am sure back in the day, Doyle gained plenty of edges. If anyone has anything specific, or good links post em.

Tuff Luck 12-06-04 07:12 PM

grain of salt guys.. grain of salt:

Some guy who claims he's a cheat himself (says he runs a boiler room too)

Second part below:

Tuff Luck 12-06-04 07:13 PM

couldn't fit it all in one post...

This is supposedly written by DN...

BTW, I found this on another site where they were discussing these RGP posts so hopefully they're accurate. But as I said, take this with a grain of salt.
